watched an aljazeera film yesterday about 9 year old Thai kids getting brain damage from Muay Thai. Nine year olds were smashing each other about while the adults were betting on them, should be illegal

Impossible to prove and your argument is flawed.
It cannot be proved but still illegal. If it were legal there would be no need of visa agent go betweens and you could just go up to the counter explain you do not have the funds but are willing to pay for them to ignore it, you would be shown the door if you tried it because it IS illegal.

Except that the senior officer who signs the visa stamp has the legal authority and discretionary power to issue a visa without ANY financial proof if he deems appropriate.
That is where all this talk falls apart. It is NOT therefore illegal.
Not illegal EXCEPT if they are taking money to do it, which is always the case. Can anyone tell of a case otherwise?

Of course it's a bribe and a corrupt illegal payment. While not illegal for an officer to waive the financial requirements, taking cash to do so is illegal, it's not a service, it's a crime! Let the buyer beware, some have had their extensions done in another province to where they live and have met with difficulties when going to their own office. Lets not pretend this money making is anything other than what it is.

The agent has the right relationship with the office boss, and protects both you and the boss from allegations of bribery and corruption.
But it remains bribery and corruption, I would never do it myself.

How do you go about it? Do you say something like, "I'd be happy to pay a fine if that can fix it."?

I never heard about it either before, the Brits of course went on to defeat the communist uprising in Malaya. Pretty sure the Gurkha's were there as well, probably the most effective jungle infantry in the world then. Quick search says they were the mainstay

It was branded as a non profit Hospital, but the Dr fee was almost as much as Bumrungrad and the anti biotics of course about 5x the cost. Only paid for the drugs as not sure they were available outside.

Went to st Louis 3 years ago for uti infection but found it expensive and the Dr rude and uncommunicative, would not go again

I go to Hanoi, in the north. War museum.
They remember.
They also don’t like the French people. Very cruel.
They not have good experience with farang.
The Brits seemed to do well, if they had stayed longer fighting the communists in 1945 the Vietnam war might never have happened. As the Brits were made to leave and the hated French moved back the communists returned when they could have been eradicated by the Brits aided by the re armed Japanese.

Doom mongering seems as cyclical as the weather, only 40 years ago we were being warned about a new ice age, all the science 'proved it'

One of the cruellest ways to dispose of anything. You have to be a real sadist to use those.
Says a bloke who almost certainly eats animals that have had their throats cut, fish that have died in pain and stress and chickens that have head the heads ripped off. People are such hypocrites when it comes to animal welfare.
