  1. What were the sumptoms?

Did this come out in the stool?

Otherwise how was this diagnosed and found?

I was given only a very little info.

So far I was told it came with the stool, in total about 6 meters. Not all in one piece, though.

Dutch Doc has difficulties with diagnosis. Searching for a month already.

Symptoms were not told to me.

I was hoping someone has seen this before and knows what it is. That would be very helpful for the search-work of the doctor and for the patient, of course.

  2. Thanks for your replies.

The person with this parasite is back in Holland and currently under medical treatment there.

Not sure why the doctor there can't find what kind of parasite it is. Also not sure whether the person already has been treated with Albendazole or something similar. I just got a mail with this pic and the question whether I know what it is or not, because I live in Thailand. :)

  3. A friend has an unidentified intestinal parasite, most probably gotten in Thailand.

The client and her doctor can not figure out what it is, already for a month now.

I would think a kind of tapeworm. But the doctor hasn't found any worm eggs in the client's feces.

Anyone has an idea what this is or in which direction to search?

  5. Dear Mapguy,

Thank you for your story and the three posts directed to me.

I invite you to visit our facilities, see for yourself and discuss the matter.

Route description you can find on our website: http://www.luckydogs.info/contact-us/

Please, give me a ring before you come, so I can make sure I'll be at the kennel to receive you. The number is: 08 triple 9 78 146

  6. Depending whether your dog is full-grown or not, you may have to have it ready made, as I doubt the XLarge travel crate will be large enough for your dog. .
Also check the airplane companies as several have a maximum size and weight, as I've heard.

In case your dog has to travel by cargo, then I suggest you contact Dynamic Air Cargo in Bangkok:

    Current contact person: Natcha Sankum(Jan)

  7. Okay, here are the breeders to look for puppies according my friend. I trust his judgement as he himself has a TRD and he's is a puppy-dog trainer in BKK., and is, therefore, very aware of the importance of socialization and early education.

I copied and pasted his reply (I hope you've got a facebook account. If not ... open one. wink.png ):

Noppakao Trd https://www.facebook.com/noppakao.trd this kennel, Noppakao, is the kennel I bought Peun from. This kennel is outstanding in black, blue and issabella color. Also, dogs from this kennel are quite friendly for the standard temperament of TRDs.

Thamarut Grand https://www.facebook.com/siam.grand this kennel, Siam Grand, owns top ranking TRDs in conformation show ring for many years and has a lot of beautiful dogs.

Boy OstenTrd https://www.facebook.com/boy.roddamrongrith this kennel, Osten TRD, is the friend of Siam Grand and also regulary produces nice dogs.

Wip Tkk https://www.facebook.com/wip.tkk this kennel, JDsamut, is owned by the TRDs' breed judge.

Doipukha Muangnan https://www.facebook.com/doipukha.muangnan this kennel, Sam Mok Dog Farm, is located in northern province, may be Chiang Rai I am not sure. Dogs from here are quite prominent in temperament, compare to standard of the breed, as well.

And then taking the opportunity to promote myself, or rather my biz: I'm the managing director and head-trainer at LuckyDogs-TH, located in Chiang Mai
See for more info our website, which is in the (slow ... by me, not my webdesigner) process of being updated: http://www.luckydogs.info , and

    our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/LuckyDogs.TH?ref=hl&focus_composer=true

I'm Dutch and got my dog training and behavior wisdom at the Martin Gaus Academy, among some other places. Martin, just recently, got a Royal ribbon for his 4 decennia of excellent and very influential work with dogs. smile.png

We do take very young pups in for the highly necessary socialization and education, and will continue the vaccination process, while with us. (by bringing the pup to the vet. We do not do this ourselves). Currently we have a few pups in boarding and training of which one will go to Singapore in a few months.
Soon our guesthouse will be finished which will have a dog-run aka garden attached to it. Here dog-owners can stay with their dog during the period they are looking for a house in CNX or when they follow a dog training course at LuckyDogs-TH with their dog.

Of course, if you go this route, your cost will double if not triple, as the boarding and training will carry a fee and by the time your pup can travel s/he has almost the adult size already, making the cargo costs sky-high. (I fear it'll be a small 1000 US$)

Therefore, last but not least (just did a google search), have you seen this list? http://www.eurobreeder.com/breeds/thai_ridgeback_dog.html

  8. I'll ask for you and let you know once I've received an answer.

As for sending the pup to Holland or any other country in the EU, it needs to be micro-chipped and has received all core-vaccines (Distemper, Parvo, Hepetitis and Rabies at the age of not younger than 3 months). Only 1 months after the Rabies jab blood can be draw and put into a serum. This serum has to be send to a registered lab in the EU for Rabies serological testing. Only if there is a sufficient amount of Rabies anti-bodies found in this serum the dog/pup will be allowed to enter the EU. But not after it has stayed another 3 months in Thailand after the blood-drawing. So, by the time your pup is allowed to enter Holland it will be at least 7 months old. And that will negatively influence your plans on socialization and training.

Why not look for a pup in or around Holland?

  9. I've heard rumours that the Happy Gambol will open again in 2 or 3 months. :)

If I wouldn't have my own place, I would definitely board my dogs there. Very professional couple.
Do not agree with their training method, though.

  10. Well, there we go: so many people, so many preferences.

At LuckyDogs-TH’s current place we have several different set-ups:

    1. There are the indoor-outdoor kennels, as can be seen on the picture above, with daily excess to the play-camps for at least 4 hours. And once all 7 play-camps are finished the time spend in these camps per day can be even more. These dog-kennels are used mainly for the bigger dogs, the aggressive ones, those who don’t mix well with other dogs, the Houdini’s, and the multiple dog group from 1 owner.

    2. Dog runs with a similar set-up as in my old place only much larger.

    post-27646-0-07759600-1399647096_thumb.j

    3. Homey stay, where the dogs have access to my house, sofa, bed and large garden around my house. This is primarily reserved for the very young puppies, dogs with separation anxiety, sensitive dogs, and dogs that need special care.

    4. (near-future plan, still needs fencing) 2 to 3 rai sized dog parks, where my and the guest-dogs can roam as well, in addition to their stay in the play-camps.

    post-27646-0-49209100-1399647953_thumb.j

    5. Large indoor cat-kennels with each their own outside run. (photo's tomorrow. Need to make them first)

    6. (near-future plan) 1 or maybe 2 guesthouses with dog pens attached to it for those pet-owners, who come and live in Chiang Mai with their pet/s, to stay with their pet while they search for a suitable house.
    post-27646-0-70360400-1399648556_thumb.j

Although, all pets can enjoy freedom to a certain extent, they are not put in situations where they can do whatever they want or go wherever they want. IMHO that is not advisable; it can put a dog in dangerous situations and will not give a dog the feeling of safety it needs.

We also do not have brightly colored rooms, or air-conditioning. We do have a fan in each kennel (which you can call a room if you like). And dogs that do not destroy their bed, have a pillow or blanket to lie on … if they prefer to do so.

  11. Thank you all for your replies.

I think Isanbirder made a good point.

The owl became more alert and active, with some increased flapping of the wings. . Didn't want to sit on the stick I had put in the box, though.
Two days ago after I came back from diner, the owl was gone. Can't have hopped over the fence. Too high.
No dogs in that or the neighboring area and no feathers, heads or other bodies parts found. so also that can be ruled out.
    It must have flown away.

  12. No, I didn't. Don't really know who to contact.

You know anyone at the zoo who I can contact? I fear it will be too stressful (and hot) for the bird when I just go there, and have to search around for someone.

  13. And I suspect an Asian Barred Owlet. Looks very much like this:

    11493570084_0d8dc275b4_n.jpg

Found sitting in the middle of the lane, nearly escaping a car in front of me driving over it.
So, I picked it up and took it home.
No visible injuries, blood or scratches, but on vet check up it turns out the left wing is broken. Wing needs to heal by itself, according the vet.
Other than this broken wing, the bird seems to be a pretty good health. Although it did not want to eat the teeny-weeny pieces of raw chicken I try to feed it today. Water with a syringe goes in so-so.

Now, I'm not an owlet or other bird expert, plus I doubt being surrounded by dogs is THE place for a recovering bird, I just really would like to see this gorgeous little animal to survive and be able to fly back to where it belongs one day (asap).

So, here's my question: is there any bird-expert out there who is willing to reach out a helping hand for this little creature?

If so, please, pm me or call: 08 triple nine 78 146

  14. Thank you! :)

It sure is a little paradise.
Sat yesterday evening outside watching and listening to the lightning and thunder and could smell the rain approaching. Just made me realize how much I missed these natural sounds at the old place(s). Had some, but not like this.

Around 6.30 this morning, like most mornings, watching from my kitchen window the first groups of dogs playing and racing each other in the play-camps. Also they enjoyed the very cool and fresh morning, just like me. And it is still much cooler than normal around this time of year. Absolutely lovely! :)

Still a lot to do, like 4 more play-camps, more cat kennels, and more dog runs. So, still stuffed in work. Keeps me off the street. ;)

  15. Try the following pages. It's in Thai, so if you can't read then ask the help of a friend.

As for the remark of the puppy mills, I fear there's a lot of truth in that ... unfortunately.
There is also a lot of back-yard breeding going on, which includes those who breed with their family dog/s but have no clue about the health history of the bloodlines of their dog/s.

This doesn't make me anti-breeding, though. Just anti-puppymills and -backyard breeding.

  16. Best of luck with the renaissance of the CEC, and to you, its new leader.

Chiang Mai is all the better for a functional group like this, and I'm sure that you will be able to give it the proper direction.

Perhaps now it can become something that will attract rather than detract!

Glad to see that finally the CEC is going in a new direction with a new leader.

Folk guitar, and others, have said it already, so I will only add my Congrats to Nancy and good luck with the reformation of the CEC.

I sincerely hope you, Nancy, together with the other Board members and the help of some volunteering CEC-members, will turn the Chiang Mai Expat Club into the club it deserves to be.

For those who are whining about sponsors of the CEC, I suggest you donate a certain amount per month so that the costs the CEC is making can be covered without the help of their sponsors. One problem solved. ^_^

And for those who were/are put of by the age level, careful with what you are saying, as one day you WILL be one of them, dozing of and all. ;):P

  17. I have nothing but good things to say about Pizza Plus, I've been going since they opened a few years ago and keep going back for more. And yes, we are getting spoiled in Doi Saket with so many farang restaurants up here: several Italian, German, European, and an American restaurants all close by.

With 'Gerrman' you mean G&M, or are there others? And if yes, where?

American restaurant, is that Iam Gourmet? and the European restaurant/s, which ones and where?
