  1. I had a problem with 3BBB about a week ago .   I use windows 10 and keep it up to date and check security regularly so I was a bit concerned when I found I could no longer access my security to scan/check etc !  The screen came up with " your internet security is managed by your ITT provider "  !!!!!

I asked 3bb about this and got the usual "don't know "

Tried all sorts to get back to Windows Defender and ended up loading a new copy of windows 10  which got rid of the problem and back to normal .  Very scary when ITT provider can take charge of your computer !!!

  2. Loads of soi dogs on Soi 6  from Na Jomtien traffic lights to Na Jomtien Police Station !   They don't even move for road traffic !  They are in all the rubbish/fly tipping which is happening on Soi 6 and thereabouts yet the police ride this road all the time and all is totally ignored !!   Even noisy soi dogs behind the Police Station !    Thinking of moving to somewhere with a cleaner environment !!

  3. Buy a dehumidifier to keep the moisture levels down and put on auto with a drain to the shower or waste . Need to keep the place airtight and tell anyone entering NOT to leave doors/windows open otherwise dehumidifier works overtime to get levels back down . I have 2 dehumidifiers working in my empty condo and they do help stop mould and mildew on woodwork etc. Otherwise  get someone to check regularly and run the AC units for an hour once a week .    Faux leather clothing ( handbags/belts etc) does not like humidity and disintegrates rapidly !  Could try coating with honey leather conditioner !  Even shoes suffer the same fate unless leather AND usually the glue comes unstuck on the first time out after storage !

  4. I was relying on Windows 10 Defender for all my computers (as most other anti virus conflict with this and the free ones are useless )

However , just recently I was unable to do a scan and a message popped up " your internet security is being managed by your IT provider "   !!   I found this strange and shortly thereafter my Windows failed to boot up stating I would need the original software or latest to recover my account !   I ended up purchasing a new windows 10 copy from supplier (tucom) in order to get up and running again .Luckily I did not loose my files but these are now in another portion of the hard drive labelled windows.old !!   Still don't know exactly what caused the problem .   Windows 10 Defender back to normal working .

  5. I have been here 8yrs now and would strongly advise you open an offshore account with Standard Bank International ( IOM Branch ).

I can thoroughly recommend you get in touch with Stephen Strowger (Private Client Manager )Offshore Investment Brokers (located in Bangkok )  [email protected]    .  He can put you right on everything and I am more than 100% happy with him .

  6. we have house near Chaing Rai - unfinished when bought with the land and I decided to renovate it so we could live in it until new house built !  Found that termites had invaded all the woodwork and even the tree roots on the land (trees were dying)

Seems that you need to dig a trench all around the house about 1 metre deep and fill it / soak it with Chaindrite !  When the termites pass through this they take the poison back to the nest with them and this kills off the rest .   Also do this around infested trees .   Seems to work although have to repeat at possible 2/3 yr intervals depending on infestation .  Remove all wooden doors/windows etc and replace with pvc or aluminium . It has been said that termites even eat concrete !!!    Best of luck .

  7. strange how few people know there is a form available at the land office which should be completed when you and your partner/wife buy land and a house together with you as a farang funding the purchase and you want to ensure you will never be "locked out "  !     The form , signed by both of you , gives you the right of entry / occupation for whatever duration you specify or until you die or until you rescind your rights !   It costs a few hundred baht - simple and economical !! No need for expensive lawyers !!   Your wife/ partner/other half can not dispose of the property and can not refuse you entry .

  8. I have a nice Condo and I was unaware the management ( who are reputable) would keep a large percentage of Condo's for short term rentals (they are Booking.com )  The Owners are the Managers and quite well known in Pattaya but I do agree with many of the comments above about short term renters not caring about the residents or the building and the increased wear and tear on Pool items/Gym Items/General maintenance is met by Co-owners !    I noted the comment that short term rentals at Condo's less than 30 days are illegal ??  Is this the law and can I / we as Co-owners stop these activities and have the owners/management company sell off the rented Condo's .   The management unfortunately control more than 50% of the votes at meetings so even though the management is very good ( their own interests of course for rental clients) we are stuck passing a co-owners vote !   Only something legal that prevents this activity will enable us to take action .  Any advice welcome .

  9. No proper garbage here !! Land near us cleared of garbage/dumping and fenced off - NOW dumping continues just next to this !!   Until Thailand ( and especially Pattaya ) gets a grip on this , the situation will get worse .   Need to look at UK/France/Europe system of garbage disposal with defined garbage/re-cycling depots PLUS proper bins for separating household waste AND implement the system with BIG fines for those who do not comply ( ie wrongly filled bins/not in plastic bags etc - not collect and impose fines /  littering and dumping - more surveillance and instant fines .    Only fines will help Thailand as people get the message when it hurts their pockets !!!

  10. These "ladies"  are just trying to make a living , usually to send money home to support their poor families in northern Thailand .  Ladyboys/transgenders are so persecuted here in Thailand with no legal protection and employers shun them - (hopefully that is changing ) - so what else are they supposed to do ?

If the authorities are worried about the "image" of Pattaya and want to remove them from the general public areas then WHY (as I have said before) can they not allocate one or two soi's with barriers/notices at each end warning the general public that this is a "red light" district where any prostitution is controlled and the sex workers can operate in safety ( like Hamburg) the and the authorities / police have the ID of those working there plus proper medical check-ups should then be enforced and the general public have then been warned - either they are looking for such services or to stay way !!

  11. the old way with lightening protection using a length of chain(as already mentioned ) is ok but even a lightening rod fitted on the top of the mast does not completely protect one - the lightening can strike the rigging and follow a path straight to the boat so some people attach earthing straps from the chain-plates , down inside the boat to either an external iron keel or a large grounding plate .   Also a good idea to put your phone and electronics in the microwave !!   Thankfully no one died or was injured .  ( ex master/marine surveyor )
