  1. On same subject , I am aware one is advised to submit ones renewal extension a little in advance although I don't know if there is any set minimum ? If one submits a retirement renewal extension ( O-A) say 1 or 2 weeks before the expiry date of the current extension , do the immigration put the renewal date as the date of the application or from the day after the expiry date of the current extension ? Reason for asking is that last year tried to match my insurance policy dates with my extension and immigration wouldn't play ball let alone listen . This time I have my my full one year insurance starting first of the month and my extension expires last day month 2400hrs so I want my FULL one year extension to start on the first (same as insurance ) If Immigration put the renewal extension for the date of the application ie lets say one week before actual expiry , then your current one year extension is cut short . Hopefully , I will ask and they will oblige by making the renewal date the requested one , from the 1st of the month .
  2. well that's a new one on me because I requested a slightly shorter extension to match my insurance and the reply was "we only issue 12 month extensions " !!
  3. same story, modified Isuzu - wide wheels . lowered suspension , go faster exhaust , gungho speedsters probably with the minimum government giveaway insurance - what does one expect with such ridiculous lawless policies ?
  4. you're still confused ! The payment is to ME !!! Todays new message states it should arrive by 6th ! Better than the 12th !
  5. What's confusing you ? The message received from Wise is exactly as stated !! Why should I disclose the full payee name - it's not relevant and private !!!
  6. Made a transfer today and sent the money from my account to Wise - received confirmation of receipt BUT a message saying "We’ll pay out your money to GW shortly. And it should be there July 12. "!!! Some people seem to get the money in minutes so I just hope it doesn't take until 12th July to get here . Wise do have a the best exchange rate and low fees so unless one requires the money urgently , then it is the best transfer service.
  7. If you are going to use a trailer often on public roads try to get one with certification /DLT approval otherwise, yes you will get stopped many times as the police like to give you a fine for using an unregistered trailer BUT if you look around at the rubbish trailers on the road without certification ( take the rickety old wood ones that transport the ferry boats to and from the beach - then no action is ever taken for them ! I actually have a photo of the police boat being transported on an unregistered rickety trailer !!! It's like one rule for you and none for them !! If you do buy from Upbeat or Respo make sure you put it on the order " with certification" . You can order trailers / towbars etc on Ali Express / Alibaba and some on Lazada !!
  8. "you pays your money and takes your chance" as they say !! All this so called work by visa agents can actually be done by the individual if they bothered to take the time ( unless they are already in trouble of their own making ) . No sympathy here.
  9. Very difficult to get a Schengen visa for Thai girlfriend ( or gurlfriend !) - tried a few years ago and if you don't actually live in the Schengen area even more difficult !! The best way is get you girlfriend to book a "holiday " with a travel company with say a coach tour to different destinations , then they look after the visa bit . Your girlfriend uses the outward flight and maybe stays at the 1st destination accommodation for 1 or 2 night , then ditches the tour and as long as has the visa , book a return flight before it expires !! It's the only hassle free way to do it without lengthy paperwork , huge costs and no certainty of approval of the visa at the end - they don't have to give a reason for refusal AND that refusal will be in your girlfriends passport and registered with the immigration !!
  10. One needs to be sensible re the precautions of the new variants ie wear mask in enclosed spaces / if in groups of people or meeting unknown persons and still avoid shaking hands but keep to washing hands . Monitoring of the number of cases and taking early action (pro-active approach ) should be the norm . The info on the new Moderna vaccine is very useful and if might be more useful to read here about about what the other pharmaceutical companies are developing in regard to the new strains . Other info on getting a 2nd booster ( is that advised after the first boosters efficacy wanes and before the newer vaccines become available and if so where can one obtain that ? ) . What is Thailand's planning to obtain the newer vaccines resistant to the new BA.4 and BA.5 sub variants ?? Positive and informative information here is really welcome .
  11. What a shocking way to go ! Tourists out for early morning ride . Thailand just does not have a clue about reducing death on the road and especially speeding , modified pick-ups . RIP the deceased .
  12. I recently tried to use the Government Gateway to advise change of address ( for pension purposes which one can do ) but found it had been cancelled . No reason given - perhaps if one does not use it for a period of time or after a certain period of absence from UK your access gets cancelled ?? Back to snail mail system now !
  13. mmmm lets try that when I'm next due to do my 90 day and see if it works . I actually wasn't aware of the new online site because I got fed up previously of it not getting me anywhere !!
  14. I get this problem doing online 90 day when I go out of the country and return on same visa to same address ( not required to report to immigration ) BUT come to do the 90 day , it doesn't accept and says report to immigration !!
  15. would agree with the Wine !! Here 5ltrs 1300baht , in Portugal 250 baht !!! whose making the profit ??
  16. Only because he knows the first two - Sinovac - were useless !!
  17. There is a farang beach clean up group in Banchang who regularly organise beach clean ups !!! Do you see a Thai beach clean up group ??? very occasionally yes and I expect as the problem becomes more widespread so more people will become more conscious on the need to clean the beaches . The beach deckchair vendors here in Jomtien do actually try to clean up their "patch" in the mornings - a thankless task .
  18. Just do a morning run (or walk) along Jomtien Beach promenade early morning and you will see the problem!! Polystyrene food containers and plastics everywhere !! The are no waste bins at or near the beach walkway - only some on the road above. Unless Thailand adopts a litter fine for dropping/not disposing of litter properly - nothing will change . It will only change when it hurts the pocket !! Not just the beach - check out soi 6 ( the Na Jomtien Police Station soi ) and there you will see the worst of fly tipping , old toilets , sofas and plastics !! No fines, no cameras , nobody doing anything to stop it and yet the Police drive by all the time !!!
  19. You need to get an "Offshore Bank Account " !!!
  20. correct - when you complete your extension of stay at Chonburi Immigration you are given a paper to report back after 3 months to show the money is still in your account !! Nothing to do with 90 day reports .
  21. The Residency Issue !!! The O-A visa / retirement visa and extensions of stay are , in reality , nothing more than a 1 year tourist visa !! Although I love Thailand and the people , had I investigated a bit more I would have plumbed for Panama ( and still thinking about it ) I live here in Thailand , have no other residences in other countries , stay here 12 months a year , pay tax !!! , have a Thai partner, support local community and business so why can't Thailand give those whom "reside" here some sort of residency status ?? It could all be made very simple !!! Anyone staying in Thailand more than 180 days a year be regarded as resident ( as in Europe) and be required to have a tax number and pay tax where due . This would then enable one to acquire temporary " foreign resident status " say for an initial period of 5 years . I think then one should be entitled to join the Thai social security system for medical care ( not for pensions) with the proviso that all bills are immediately settled by the individual (likely to be a lot cheaper than private ) One should then be able to obtain a " foreign resident " document . Do away with the disparity and unfair system between O-A and O visas . Anybody staying less than 6 months be regarded as a tourist irrespective of whether they own a Condo . If they don't live here full time they are a tourist .
