My normal flight itinerary is Dublin /Doha and return with Qatar . I look at Flightradar24 to see if flights have actually happened as schedules and for sure Qatar are still flying the route every couple of days without cancellation .How is this possible when we are not supposed to be allowed into Thailand I wonder . Could be repatriations but it’s unlikely many taking place still . I would welcome your comments . Now missing my “go to” lady in Bangkok very much.

Why do people feel the need to reply when they don’t know the answer ?

When tourists really needed help at the beginning there was nothing . No extensions for those who couldn’t get or couldn’t afford the outrageous prices being charged for returning home. Instead we were left to guess what might happen while we watched flight after flight being cancelled and top airlines scratching their whole operations. It was terrifying . My kid bailed me out by booking a one way flight back to Dublin for €1500 ! Thank god I was able to reimburse him when I got home . All the “ help” came too late. As my kid said !, Dad , you would have died in those queues for immigration where you had to have 7/8/9 .. can’t rember ..documents and no social distancing .and me over 70 with diabetes, in the beginning . No... too late to redeem yourselves .

It looks like Thailand may be open again in June . Whether this is based on playing loosely with the facts of the virus impact on the population or just a simple economic necessity is up for grabs but no matter .
Thailand might let you in .... but will your government let you out will Be the next hurdle for those of us missing LOS. -

Hallelujah! Shame they couldn't have done it earlier.
I came home at the end of March , costing me a fortune , because I knew if I had to go to immigration I would be signing my own death warrant given the underlying health problems I have and being an elder lemon. If only they had done this earlier I would be still safe and happy in Samui but instead I am cocooned in my home in Dublin relying on the police to,get me food .. in theory .

Way too soon. For now, saving lives has to precede saving the economy.
Agree but fair reporting would help determine the true extent of the affect the pandemic is having in the country . If you do not test many people you do not get many positive results . No one would trust the statistics being published , unless you are very nieve .. I for one , wouldn’t go back to Thailand Any time soon even if they opened the air routes again. Simply cannot trust the current government to tell the truth .
it cost me a fortune to get out of there in a hurry last month . I do not wish to repeat that experience again. -

Hope I'm wrong - want back with my wife and daughter - but I seriously feel this year will be a wipeout
Sad to admit but you are making sense based on the opinions of those closest to this pandemic. Only this morning I read about how many waves of this cursed virus it may take before “herd immunity “ is achieved . There could be up to 9 waves ,each smaller but nevertheless affecting our freedom of movement. Sadly , the pessimistic view is Spring 2021, but of course governments around the world will find ways to bypass would be restrictions for the sake of economics which will result In risk for us all for a long time. Given the sentiment that we are now witnessing in parts of the US there is no doubt that the short term future will involve a preparedness to accept substantial risk to achieve something approaching a normal life, which includes holidays and travel of any sort.

i have a friend on holiday in pattaya, he could have come home at any point by rescheduling his flight or buying another, he still could, but he's sitting in pattaya whinging and moaning...
Me too ... I came home but it was expensive . He kept telling me the irish government would send a rescue plane or piggyback onto a UK rescue operation... the Irish government did secure loads of seats home ... but ..and this was the bit I liked ... at a price ! Rescue and Punish at the same time €1600 one way to Dublin ...

I live in one that does care and not only that, it hammers home to me the risk I am taking at any time being in Thailand as much as I am in a year
my son got me home to Dublin a week ago at a sinful price because he told me exactly what would happen in Thailand ... so far everything he predicted has happened and now , again he predicted it would happen, news of anti farang posts on Facebook and a threat of violence. He said “ do you think they are gonna give a *hit about an old white guy ? I’m getting you home tomorrow!” And I am so grateful ...
all the best to you who cannot leave for whatever reason .I now have a policeman knocking on my door every few days asking if I need something from the shops ...caring ...

Why are immigration so determined to make problems for tourists?
They are helping to trash tourism here in the future, with their crazy antics.
I hope fervently that this behavior by the Thai Authorities pays appropriate dividends to the tourist industry in the future ! I really would love to hear them say in 2/3 years time that they behaved responsibly during the pandemic and can’t explain why the numbers never bounced back . Actually I will write to TAT to tell them why I will not be taking my 4 Months .. different months ....holiday in Thailand every year spending thousands of euros in the country ... millions of baht... simply to take my personal revenge on their stupid government.
My son demanded “ get out of there Dad ... it is a second world country without a clue “ and he presented me with expensive return flights to do so ! He was right ... today I see my original return flight cancelled for tomorrow while the airline are e mailing me saying ..” we will get you home”I am lucky that I am home ... Lucky that I have a caring family with more sense than me...Bye now Thailand ... we had some fun together but in the end you let us all down...

I spent 57000 baht on Coronavirus related activity last Week..I got out of Thailand. If I had waited any longer it was 134000 baht the next day. Then the next day ... no flight... cancelled .
there’s no sympathy at home. They are delighted to see me suffer for my silliness in being there in the first place.
money is money ... but life is vital.... lol !
As well as the danger of the pandemic being badly managed in a country that is generally clueless about most things there is now a real threat of lawlessness as the money dries up for those who are used to creaming it from stupid tourists . They will turn their attention elsewhere... Farangs... who they think are living in their country at their expense... not true ..but what has truth got to do with the Thai mentality ... I have nightmare visions of the health minister screaming drive them out ... now ... and make sure they leave their assets behind ... of course.-

I got out last Wednesday at enormous expense because I took at look around me and knew what was coming . I pitied my LLT lady as she cried when I told her I had to go . She really didn’t understand ,and that was the problem I saw everywhere . So it would only be a matter of time for me as I am in the at risk group of elder lemons . Even when leaving the same old stuff was going on ... taxi to the airport ... tried to demand a fixed amount after agreeing to use the meter and I pay the tolls ..I gave him such a bollocking that he switched on the meter immediately and when we got to the airport he jumped out and got a trolley and loaded my bag even though I had only given him A 50 baht tip.. which I should not have ... I dunno why.. lol !
I swore to myself that I’m finished with Thailand , but of course .....On arrival in Dublin everything was so quiet .. they had to ring for a taxi ... none at arrivals .. no flights except mine ... roads Empty, neighbours vanished to their children’s house .. all older like me . A really serious attempt being shown to fight this wretched pandemic ...
I fear for the good thai people left to deal with the fallout from the lies and stupidity of ministers and administration in general ...but I wish them luck . Now I have to survive ... but at least I am home ...

Them Russians dont give a S#it so Im recommending UK to Moscow to Phuket
The cheapest flight from Dublin to BBK is Aeroflot and the duration is as good as Emirates, Qatar or Etihad... the only problem is Aeroflot ... better than they used to be but still so lacking in comfort and other areas .. Used to travel to Moscow to see family posted there and I know. Still it’s there as an option if I need a cheapie Charlie...
