Curious to know more...are you retired or working and/or raising a family or just doing business. For me, a retired person, my interaction with the Thai state bureaucracy is deminimus and consists of two trips to immigration per year for a total of 30 minutes to renew my a "retirement" visa and prove my bank funds after 90 days (90 day reports are done online) and a trip to the Land Transportation Office every 5 years to renew my drivers license. The annual car registrations are done by a service just down from my house for 100 baht. I don't think living as an expatriate gets much easier than this.
It's only the addiction of many retirees to complain about something day by day.
What burocracy do they have to fight with? 90 day reports doing online shouldn't be a problem as they seem to be used to type on a smartphone or computer. ????
If not smart enough go to the IO...-

I remember a good friend of mine went to immigration to renew his work permit. They kindly informed him that he didn't do his TM30 (this is when the whole issue was brought in) and he had to pay a fine. Not only did he have to pay a fine, he also had to wait for hours to hand over the money. He's been here over 10 years, married with a kid and working and paying taxes. He was furious and decided to travel to places like Vietnam, etc, a few times instead of weekends at the beaches here.
I also remember the meeting with immigration at the FCCT forum. They simply didn't have any good answers for why they were trying to enforce this ridiculous law. I remember one officer smugly replied, "don't travel, then" when asked how people could find time to do the TM30 on a Monday after a weekend away to Pattaya, etc, when they have jobs and responsibilities. It felt like a complete abuse of their authority and just one abhorrent cash grab.
Now, I'm not the sort of person who isn't going to travel because I wanna vote with my money. If I wanna go on holiday or have a weekend away, I will. But asking me to travel to help them? No chance. I'd have quite happily done it had they just left me alone. I wasn't looking for any favours or special privileges. I just wanted some basic decency to be shown and not be treated as a criminal.
I have sympathy for people who work in the tourist industry. I have absolutely zero for Thailand's tourism chiefs. Som nam na.
Since when would immigration renew a work permit ?

Great offer. Let's GO! ????
Luckily they are not all same.
I use to go often to a little resort in Pai.
A superior room in high season was 1100THB.
They contacted me a few days ago: Low Season extended to December - Superior Room 700THB.-

We might well be interested if Immigration didn't make life so hard for us expats . I would like to travel around the country but they insist on knowing where we are all the time and with all the reports they want from us i just go to the supermarket .
How does Immigration make your life hard when travelling in the country ?
The hotel makes the report for you when you check in.
TM30 is not necessary to make anymore after you returned from another province.
So what is "making life so hard" when you travel ?-

Because most locals don't have the money anyway to go overseas for a holiday trip ?

I had a room in Ladphrao for around 3 years and didn't see many farangs or tourists there.

another pointless post about a tourist resort in thailand being deserted and the subsequent hardship being experienced by the locals. what do you expect if foreign tourists are not allowed to enter the country?!
They didn't want Westerners anymore, Chinese were their new friends. Now all are gone, so they remember farangs again ?

What abt those with long term visa that expired (non b, extension stay) and will like to apply for another new long term visa, such as Ed visa or thailand elite?
If you are older than 50 you can apply for a Non-O Retirement.
My Non-B expired mid of April and I got the amnesty bcoz they didn't extend my visa. Now I changed to Non-O. -

all makes perfect sense to me
if ur on an extension do everything as you have always done before, (yearly extension, 90 day)
If you haven't done a 90 day since march 26th you have between August 1-31st to do so.
If ur on a VISA get everything in line by sept 26th or be prepared to leave asap
If you need change to a Non B or...get ur paper work in order before Sept 26th
If you are on a Non-B and immigration doesn't extend it (what happened to me), change to a Non-O.

My annual extension (retirement) is due early November.
When am supposed to do it?
Prior to Sept 26?
So you have a valid visa until early November.

That's why people should act early as possible now.
Find an immigration office that can help or an agent who can do it.-

Do you know whether the USD100K insurance policy document needs to specifically state "Covid-19"?
It is a bit confusing because I have read elsewhere that insurance covering only Covid-19 is insufficient whereas the requirement is for medical insurance "including" Covid-19.
In my case, I have a policy from Pacific Cross with coverage of USD1M/year and nil exclusions. I have read through the Policy Document and there is no mention of Covid-19, epidemics, pandemics etc. so presumably it is covered but would an embassy/consulate accept that or would they require a separately issued Certificate specifically mentioning Covid-19?
Why don't you contact your insurance company / broker instead of asking members of a forum who quote everything about their dreams last night or what a friend of a friend thinks to know ?

Bad news for some TV users. Good news for the rest of us. Looks like one more time the Immigration bureaucrats were silenced by some higher authority in the government.
Agree with sentence 1 and 2. 3 might have a different reason. ????

How about we just accept some good news? We are all good for two more months. No crowding into Immigration rooms. Maybe they will even give up on 90 day reporting altogether. They don't want to have anything to do with dirty farang anyhow. I just hope they don't kick us out. I think we are safe as long as tourists are gone. We are the only game in town now.
You contradict your own positive starting comment from lane 2 on ?

Why the 26 and not the 30th? Does WW3 start the 27th? ????
26 is the last Saturday in September.
1. IOs don't want to start the new week with desperate and grumpy foreigners who are begging for a solution what they didn't care about since April ?
2. Less traffic jam to Swampy on Sunday 27th ? -

The sound of 50,000 sighs relief heard across the country. An extra 55 days to get your visa sh *t together or plan an exit strategy.
Or lean back again, relax, doing nothing and start asking for solutions on several forums with "experts" from September 23rd on?

Any more info on the "will allow foreigners in Thailand to either obtain a new visa" part, or is it not something there's actually info about yet?
