Has there been any progress whatsoever in the tracking front besides the useless thaichana? Do they have a task force for manual tracking? Did they use the time bought by extremely expensive lockdowns for anything? Testing capability?

Forget the Thaichana. Had to go to 3 shopping malls in Chiang Mai on Sunday.
Staff at the entrances playing on their phones, nobody is registering wether by app nor in the book.
I asked one staff how to use the app, his answer: Is BS only, must not do.

I must say that they are quite clever. Of course they do not want arrogant "I have money and own the world foreigners", and the virus have given them the tool to say that in another way. Not saying that all foreigners that comes to Thailand are this way, but unfortunately a great amount behaves with a very bad attitude. I do believe that´s a big part of many Thais way of looking at foreigners coming back to Thailand or not.

    A post that says a lot ...

Isn't it strange that only "retournees" cause covid-19 cases here in Thailand, in a country with such low infection cases?!

If you use your logic then you decouver contradictions.

    • As far as I know, no normal tourist is allowed to enter Thailand - except diplomats, etc. "12 from Sudan", they all haven't been controlled in their country or airport of departure? The same concerning 1 patient from Bahrain and from the US, too? Unbelivable.
    • Only farangs carried the Covid-19, Thailand, but Thailand has gone 47 days without a domestic case. Incredible. Yes, if you don't test Thais, there are no cases! Trump logic.
    • Yes, I know, the time between the virus-infection and the -discovery takes more than 3 days. Therefore it's possible, that the virus could not yet be detected in the state of departure, but a short time later in Thailand. But, but .. that happened 47 days only in falang cases? Incredible.

For me it seems the military government wants to hide a lot.

How do you come to the conclusion "falang cases"? RETURNEES !

so interesting that Thais don't have to go through all the hoops except get a fit to fly paper...this must be one smart virus that can obviously pick and choose who it will infect and who not....obviously Thais returning home won't be affected..only farangs...Thais are bullet proof...

Who tells you that Thais do not have to do ?

And see the tourist sector unemployment go out of control, and continue to have daily food handouts to the needy until the world is free of this virus, by that time Thailand would be in real financial trouble.

Some experts who are posting their mental sh.. on this forum seem to think that a cold beer, a forum to post nonsense and being bored day by day would make everybody happy.
Sometimes i feel like they enjoy to watch people in biggest financial trouble queing up for free food. Perverts they are !

  6. I don't understand what the big problem is about this.
Tourists who don't want or can't go back home yet - Give out tourist visas at any immigration office in the country for the existing fee and extend them for the existing fee.
Expats who can't extend Non-B visas get in trouble as well, or are already. Visas could easily be issued to them or extended in the country.
Can't be a staff problem as staff from consulates and embassies should be available.
Can't be a location problem as many hotels are empty around the country.
Flexibility is the key word to make everyone happy.
Tracking of remaining tourists? Accommodations and landlords do TM28 and TM30 for what? There are apps to track movements as well.
Who doesn't agree to be tracked - chose a flight !

    Expect another U-Turn tomorrow.

Can't see why Thailand is not opening up to EU while they allow Thai citizens to come in.

I guess after China the EU probably the biggest number of tourists coming to Thailand.

And with the ending summer, many tourists from Europe would like to spend some warmer days here.

There would be quite a lot of European countries with very low cases but i guess TAT can't even find them on a map.

    Glad to hear this decision.

Makes me feel as though Thais possibly are not all about the money after all..

For many people in the country tourists are the only way to survive. (tour guides, drivers, small hotels and resorts, elephant camps ...)
To change to other jobs is nearly impossible for the majority of them as there are no jobs available.
Many guides spent a lot money (29 to 50k) for their licenses, no chance to use them now.
So what's your solution for them ?
Most did not even "qualify" for the 5000b payouts. Was a media bubble to safe face only.
Travel agencies who kicked their staff out from one day to the other get financial support. Fair?

Besides, of course, the very rich and influential are now much richer and more influential. The real achievements of this government must not be hidden behind a smokescreen of fake news, unemployment, financial ruin for many and consequent poverty. They can always go back to their farms. And if the farms are gone, then they can wait at the road junctions near the villages early in the morning, in case anyone wants a slack handful of day labourers for B300 a day.

They don't know how lucky they are - of course they're happy.

They will even be happy to get 200B and sign for 300, same as the mango farmers do with the poor chaps from esaan every season.

There are thousands still stranded in Thailand that need to do border runs to activate another period of entry when the borders re-open, such as multi Non O Visas, or Non O-A Visa holders.

Then there are those who's current Visas have expired but need to apply for new Visas at local Thai Embassies/Consulates, or those just wanting another VE entry to convert to Non O and subsequent 1 year extensions.

Or those whos Non-B has to be renewed at a consulate/embassy in a neighbouring country but land borders still closed.

The greedy Thai landlords, still asking for full rent payements, are part of the problem.

A lot of the small beer bars are running like a ''family'', the boss and the mamasan are the

parents and the girls are the child, so i am not surprised the ''parents'' take care of their ''child''

but of course they don't have infinite funds, they need to open again soon.

And the children sell expensive ladydrinks and give mamasan some barfine when they go 'take care' a customer...

Isn't this a violation to people's right to privacy? What happens if you refuse to allow them to come inside your home?

How do they know when to knock on your door? Some people leave home very early and work all day, only coming home pretty late in the evening.

Are they also heading into forests to check the temperatures of forest dwellers?

    Lots of unanswered questions.

Your temperature seems to be a little too high...
