You are advocating that everyone should boycott Thailand as it is a very dangerous place, based on a couple of incomplete and sensationalist newspaper reports. For all you know there could have been more attacks in any other country, over the same time.

"Ok I do not know Australia and have never been there". Yes that right, you have no idea if there is more violence in Australia (or elsewhere) or less violence. A couple of people got robbed in Tahiti last week, are you going to call for a boycott of Tahiti as well.

see your point....as for Tahiti well we are talking about Thailand here and not Tahiti so what to say, as I am as well informed as you seem on Tahiti?

Now these reports are not invention or would you consider that they are just a tissue of plain sensational lies and that nothing happened?  So perhaps we could consider to sue the press, make charges for libel and god know what else to boycott freedom of news and speech?????

And yes I do agree, the streets of Irak are much more dangerous for a late afternoon stroll,  but once again to remain on topic, the issue was on Pattaya and the fact that worse things happen elsewhere is perhaps, in my humble opinion, not an excuse to accept such attacks locally...and it is important for tourists not to become prey in a society that seems to consider tourists only as walking ATM's and nothing else? ... ..but on the short term, if such agressions against tourists are not tackled, the whole country would suffer .. up to you to decide my dear fellow which direction suits you best!!

That what happens when you always point to people who are not your kind and label them as "farang"! That with the other stigma that the elite has been successful in putting in everyone's mind (the dark skin stigma), fine for the elite whose kids can have cushy a/c jobs, ... There are some intelligent Thais, but given the brainwashing and the face washing,... Still, these kids belonging to the elite also get great schooling in private and oversea's schools/uni. The only way an Isaan woman has a chance in hell is to sell her body to jump the queue, which a lot of "farang" and rich Thais appreciate. Very devious! Checks and balances!

Funny how humans are obsessed and attracted to the opposite of their skin colour....in Europe, on the lovely shores of Mediterranean beaches, you will see the Brtits, Germans and other nordic folks, freely entertaining a potential  skin cancer with no sunscreen and getting roasted under the sun from noon to 5 pm!!...and on other parts of the world, people entertain further skin disease with bleach to make their skin fair....we really are never satisfied....

Yes thats right, in the past few days in Australia everyone hugged and sang kumbya, there was no crime, theft, assaults etc.

Good to see that you can read these articles and put them into perspective.

What sells newspapers, reports of random violence or photos of puppies.

Ok I do not know Australia and have never been there....so if you say that people sing your local song well...good for you?

Actually was commenting on Thailand and not on Australia, but thanks for the information nevertheless.

Foreign transfer fees are prohibitively expensive from US banks and the exchange rate is bad. I deposit cash into my account when I get to Thailand. It's safer than a hotel safe (which I rarely have anyway)and much cheaper than making endless ATM withdrawals.

Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Your are very correct. Not to mention also that during the transfer the banks in Thailand will screw you on the exchange rate. If you locally look around a bit, you will get a far better rate in changing your foreign exchange directly in a money changing booth rather then do it through bank transfer. If the amount is substantial, so will be be the extra cash you'll get if you do it yourself. Enjoy and Thailand permits to import upto US$ 20'000,-- without having to declare/display your cash to a potentially corrupt customs cowboy at the airport.

It was really easy to open bank account 1 or 2 years ago. At that time I opened bank account on tourist visa without any problems too.

But situation and rules changed. So people who opened account 1 or 2 years ago, and now are comenting here, how easy it is, are providing old info.

True. A friend of mine with a German/European passeport, 30 day visa was refused in every branch he tried in Bangkok, Hua Hin and Phuket,  This was in january 2017.

  6. The Australia media (and the medias of other western countries)  should start a campain to dissuade  from visiting Thailand. There are other more hospitable asian countries to spend one's money. Thailand is getting a bit spoilt with farang money so why bother?

Spend the cash somewhere else and above all, never, never get into buying property in Thailand who seems to disrespect farangs more and more on a daily basis.

Sorry, to the trolls who will deny all obviously, or those who have no cash to drink and screw!! but in the past few days 3 tourists have be assaulted within Pattaya and Phuket and no matter what the reason, Thailand is definately not the safe haven it used to be in for farangs any more...

  7. yet another attack on a Pattaya tourist???!!...oh c'mon...Thailand is safer then Irak, will the trolls say!

ok I was never uneasy to travel here and there, but definately, reading on these numerous agressions within the last 48 hours in Pattays -  if I want to drink and screw my head off, I'll rather hop over to another Asian country for 48 hours with Air Asia but definately not to Pattaya any more!!...

But on a different note, perhaps it's a subtle way to "clean" up Pattaya by discouraging tourists with their cash, to come over?

  8. oh really this is not such a big deal just like the other incident in Pattaya where another tourist was bashed up...!!!

the country needs in prioprity to deal with those over sexy busty superstars with sexy pelvic moves that make the top brass of governance, hard under their pants!!

who cares for these tourist farangs in Thailand who have "huge" amounts of money to drink and screw all those busty cuties that hang around??!!!

  9. The victim should report the incident to the press in his country and to his embassy,  to warn tourists.

Thailand is getting a bit spoilt with all the farang money and taking farangs for granted, with no benefit of doubt, safety or any protection from law.

The trolls would say that it's worse elsewhere and they may be right. We all feel safe despite what happens to others, until we are personnaly hit! It's human nature.

But is that a reason to get bashed up at 2 am?

The state propaganda boys on TV would contradict this on a whole, but on the short run, tourists will flee and spend their cash in other Asian countries that are more farang friendly!

  10. Well done the military....now it's time to focus and get rid of the other bangkok taxi driver thieves who refuse to put the taxi meter on or who cheat on the toll charges when driving tourists to and from the airport....it is giving a disastrous first image of Thailand... the trolls would come up and claim such stuff is random and not an issue, but we all know how hateful it gets when it can be prevented.....well done the army once again....

Relax. So are the finances of Italy, Spain, France. Just to name few. The UK is just in good company.

Thank Buddha, most Thai-Ladies don't know, that by re-locating to such places, all they would get to observe is a continent in economical decline, as opposed to their home-country. Otherwise, they might just prefer to stay in Thailand, ignoring fancy courtship-dances by Farangs with the purpose of luring them to some cold and windy shores.

But, for as long as it last's, it's strictly::partytime2:
    Cheers.

Very true. Europe in on it's downfall and I don't give the Euro monetary zone more then 10 years to last. Ask any taxi driver in spain, france, italy, greece what he thinks of the disastrous  Euro Currency, the European Union and if has improved their standards of living.... and you'll get your answer....
