  1. This is a good idea. Fewer soldiers but highly professional. Of course military governments won't like it but parents will.
  2. Must admit i have often wondered why alcoholics are not supposed to have a few beers then stop. Must be something complex that one drink can drive them back. Knew some alcoholics but they seemed to have complex mental problems.
  3. It seems frequent that pitbulls savage people. They may not be the only dogs that attack people but maybe keeping them locked in the house or garden is the only way
  4. They are private companies and are not restricted by the 1st amendment. They have the freedom to deny him access.
  5. Well her position as a global activist certainly helped to spread the word. As you know, Germany has gone back on all is commitments for it's own reasons. It doesn't all explain for instance why Thailand signed up to reduce its carbon footprint then immediately ordered 4 more coal fired energy plants. She has a point, they're all liars.
  6. Sorry you feel you have to make stuff up. There is a lot of information from trustworthy agencies if you care to look.
  7. She didn't pay. As the yacht owner said, "The sailing team that’s taking climate activist Greta Thunberg from England to the United States aboard a high-tech racing yacht says it will fly two crew across the Atlantic to bring the boat back, but that the carbon emissions from their flights will be compensated for."
  8. She never lied and the photo was not staged. She had to catch several trains. "So we sat on the floor on 2 different trains. After Göttingen I got a seat. "This is no problem of course and I never said it was.
  9. She sailed for free. Amateur yaughting couple volunteered to take her. Lots of evidence in the web.
  10. She effectively turned a small local protest into a global news item.
  11. When she needed to travel across the Atlantic she asked if anyone could help and a couple offered to sail her across gratis. They weren't influencers just yachtsmen. Her parents are not poor. Who influenced her? She told the UK Parliament not to listen to her, listen to the scientists. Her Extinction Rebellion group received donations from philanthropists. She's written several books but given most of the money away. As she has said,, most of the people she upsets are white, male and on the right of the political spectrum. She is far from rich and this article discusses her income coming from awards for her work. https://www.greenmatters.com/p/who-supports-greta-thunberg
  12. I hope you have evidence, and aren't just parroting others. Before she was 18 people wrote her off as "just a kid", but she persevered. I have yet to catch her lying, which is more than i can say for politicians
  13. I looked it up and a class action costs Euro 50 to file. If successful the value of the claim is shared. I don't think the group is asking for money but demanding action. Keeping in mind there are many people who protest, sharing costs may not be onerous.
  14. Greta is actually suing the Swedish government for not doing enough to protect the environment. The woman has more grit than anyone on ASEAN Now and is no one's mouthpiece. Her smile while being detained says "You fell into my trap and put this local protest in a global spotlight". I look forward to the day she becomes Swedish PM.
  15. Fantacists want the world to change in the way they want and are not self aware of their own inadequacies. I am sure their families will swear later, "He was such a quiet, sweet boy who never talked back to his mother. Wouldn't hurt a fly, well except the ones he pulled the wings off. We just don't know why he did it."
  16. Perhaps the government might acknowledge there is a need for more recycling. If the result of operation Sword in China resulted in no imports of waste here there could have been an attempt to bring Thai recyclers into line. If anyone recycles illegally close them down and offer companies the opportunity to take over following the rules and laws.
  17. Quite happy with this governor. The city lags other cities in terms of green space and this is an appreciated addition.
  18. Just an opinion but by joining different parties they can have their cake and eat it. If either party wins we can expect close cooperation without a merger. Two parties with the same mindset effectively means one party.
  19. I see your point but, as you mentioned, it is unprecedented. Nixon was lucky.
  20. Admittedly, the accusations against Trump have not led to imprisonment and there seems to be no way of succeeding. Dems know if they put the orange one away, there will be repercussions. People can write all they want but unless he is put away by a jury, it isn't going to happen.
  21. Whenever these stories come up I would like to know which plastics were found. Name and shame. There are many types of plastic (who would lump a Ferrari with a Suzuki? They just aren't the same). I can't understand how a small turtle could get a PET bottle in its mouth (they take hundreds of years to break down I read). Also when the author writes "plastic and other garbage" what was the other garbage? Be clear. Was it worse, the same or better than waste plastic? Some computer parts are poisonous for instance. Years ago the media went after lead. Then there were warnings about radioactive waste being dumped. Mercury too. All I ask for are the facts in full, not half truths.
  22. And so passengers will suffer, maybe see fare rises to cover costs or be forced back into cars to pollute Bangkok even more
  23. As with all punitive measures introduced by the RTP, the problem lies at the point of contact between the police and the offender. Being stopped for any infringement, whether it's a fine or imprisonment or a points deduction, if the "public servant' accepts a bribe before recording the offense then it will remain useless for all practical purposes. Drivers need to fear being caught because they know the law will be enforced.
