  1. Went to see a doctor recently about a lump on the palm of my hand. Left hand so it wasn't caused by what you might think. People at the office told me they knew what it was and that it could be cut out by surgery. When the doctor saw it, he confirmed it was not cancer. I asked if it should be cut out as mentioned by others. He laughed and told me when he practiced in the USA, patients would come in with articles or medical books and told him what to do. He lay my hand on the table, scrubbed the palm with alcohol, picked up a large syringe filled with anasthetic and pushed it into the lump without any anasthetic and there was a spray of clear liquid. It hurt but he put the anasthetic in afterward and said, there was no need for an operation. What I learned was: 1. Don't take medical advice from anyone who doesn't have MD after their name 2. Go to a good hospital with a reputation 3. Ask to see a specialist, especially in the case of the OP 3. Do what he suggests. You may ask questions, but he or she is a specialist for a reason.
  2. I suppose they could have asked Interpol to bring him in, but the problem is that no country believes in removing a popularly elected prime minister so that won't work. Maybe if they could at least bring the Red Bull guy in then people would see Thailand as having a justice system.
  3. It is completely legal to own a gun but it is heavily regulated. You must also prove to the chief of police that you’re allowed to have a firearms certificate and pose no danger to public safety or to the peace. No history of mental illness or criminal record. A shotgun certificate will not be given or renewed if the chief of police has a reason that you should not be allowed to have a shotgun under the Firearms Act. Or if they do not think you have a good reason to have, buy or acquire a shotgun. Usually, shotguns are used by farmers to get rid of vermin. Olympic shooters are another group who need guns. In high school, before it became more difficult to get a certificate, I shot .303 rifles and reached sharpshooter rank. There are many gun clubs today. Not sure why people think we are not allowed guns but without a good reason, not many want to have one.
  4. Such a shock. Expect gun ownership to become more difficult.
  5. Isn't there a law about smuggling ilegal immigrants across state borders? Something called human trafficking? Quite shocked that no charges are being laid.
  6. Under the BMTA? The KittiSunthorn company in Pathum Thani Is not a government company. They provide a bus service in another province.
  7. Weird. They all think they're smarter than the law and after they get caught they have learned a lesson. Don't do the crime of you can't do the time.
  8. I guess some don't get that private companies can make their own rules. If they insist on passengers wearing a mask, wear one or get off the bus. Remember California in the 70's, "No shirt, no shoes, no service"?
  9. I admit to being confused. Every gift is what the police are supposed to do every day. There is nothing special among them.
  10. Seems a common element of mass shootings is that they take everyone by surprise and no one is on the scene to shoot back.
  11. Gambling is only illegal if not organized by the government i guess. Back to betting on the ponies...
  12. Empty styrofoam boxes seems to imply life jackets were sold to Pattaya banana boat operators. Or similar. which admiral will lose his pension over this fiasco?
  13. This was over 10 years ago and so I sent a letter.
  14. I can only tell of my experience. Wrote to the police and they replied that they aren’t allowed to say whether someone has a record but did state that to the best of their knowledge I am not wanted for anything. Thai authorities accepted that.
  15. The royal family is supposed to keep itself away from this sort of public controversy. What next? Meghan standing for President? This appeared to start because she wanted to be a princess and he wanted all the money and privilege he thought he deserved whilst acting as a spoilt brat. Personally, stripping both of titles and ranks is the next step. Let's see if Netflix will want to interview a couple of spoilt former royalty.
  16. Immigration does its job and if it is a series of verbal questions, there is nothing much to do other than jump though the hoops of answering with a smile on the face. The onus is on the visitor to keep all relevant paperwork (including stuff you assumed you wouldn't need after entry) on hand to show as evidence. Always have an envelope and keep everything in it until leaving Thailand.
  17. Budgets are made years in advance of airline decisions.
  18. Not sure how many actually understand the reason he took power was to enable the transition of a subject not up for discussion on this forum. I'm betting that the fragility of that estate is such that Prayut still believes he needs to be around to handle protests. He seems uninterested in more than that.
  19. When an actor, musician or politician is accused of anything sexual the media is happy to jump in with innuendos and gossip. It ain't over till the fat woman sings.
  20. There are enough old pedos in Thailand so I doubt the police will let him in. Chemical castration is one alternative.
  21. I do not trust Muslim governments. The Taliban promised girls would continue to receive education. Words on the wind. If passport surnames don't match does it mean you aren't married? Some women keep their original family name. Do you have to carry a marriage certificate always? How many carry a marriage certificate on holiday? Yes, officials may say the law doesn't affect foreigners. Just to be safe, better not visit anywhere in Indonesia where fanatics will piously report you regardless of their relationship to you and you will get caned.
  22. Many people come to Thailand thinking it represents total freedom. So they break the rules, like careless driving, drugs and waterfall accidents. When everything comes back to bite them then suddenly it is back to begging strangers for help. First thing is to get her moved to a government hospital for cheaper initial treatment, then fly back to the uk for surgery.
