  1. Well if he had paid the case would have ended 10 years ago, wouldn't it?
  2. I am back in the Twilight Zone.
  3. Tactically, with Pita out of the way, the junta will be looking to dissolve Move Forward Party next. Supporting a change to 112 has made this a death match. Recordings of their rallies in which they discussed changing 112 could be used to show lese majeste. The People(tm) may demonstrate. The army will shrug its (well-armed) shoulders..
  4. Peta has been very disappointing. Couldn't plan his way out of a paper bag. Best thing to hope for is a minority government then and early election where MF win an overwhelming number of votes.
  5. NordVPN. Provides ad blocking and malware scanning. With one NordVPN account, you can protect up to six devices. Fast. Extras include double-hop VPN and Onion over VPN (slows it down though). Works out of Panama so pretty neutral. Doesn't keep logs.
  6. Absolutely. In fact I wonder why his lawyers have not given him better legal advice from the beginning, such as return the shares or give them to the relative his father had instructed him to give them in the will.
  7. Yes, I see your point but I think they can do so only if it were against the law. For instance, the question was raised whether Pita's books were media. This would make Stephen King/Tomayanti journalists so i don't believe it can be used. Having said that, what else could they find?
  8. Somehow, not surprised. Having worked with and known personally several government officers, they are frankly afraid of being sued if they don't follow the law, no matter how petty it seems to foreigners. The law states that MPs are not allowed to hold shares in a media company. It doesn't differentiate between 2 shares or 42,000 shares. * Thanathorn ignored this. Banned. * Peta ignored it - off to court. Peta held the shares for many years as an executor. Years during which he could have disbursed them to someone at any time. Finally, he disbursed them this year. As if somehow he just realized the sh*t he was in. If the constitutional court finds him innocent of holding media shares, the court could be in trouble. As many here want to ignore the illegality, perhaps the court will too and everyone will be happy. Personally, I think Peta has been too naive by not understanding that the old guard would check everything about him to find a tool with which to remove him. Footnote: Wikipedia says: There were recent (from 2022) attempts to revive ITV with the aim of attacking Pita. ITV's description was changed from “a holding company principally engaged in the non-financial business” to “television media” in 2022, despite the company being unable to carry out television broadcasts. The description was changed again in 2023 to “advertising media and returns from investments”.
  9. So, tough on staff in private, sweet and polite in public. Typical politician. He should run for president. Um... wait...
  10. Presage? Has the Thaiger editor bought a thesaurus?
  11. Off topic but I wonder how many problems for foreigners in Thailand would be solved if those foreigners spoke Thai? In the UK and US locals get angry when hearing people speak foreign languages, "speak American" has appeared in many articles (not condoning racism). I know Thai education is not good so learning the national language makes sense for doing business here.
  12. I remember what happened the last time the Democrat Party was in government in 2011 and told the water authorities not to release dam water. This was just before Yingluck took over. Maybe a coincidence. Now the junta is leaving office just as a new government enters office.
  13. Why chop him up when the body parts would still identify him?
  14. Surprised her mum never asked where she got all that money, and never wondered why she was high all the time.
  15. Hoping MF will not rely on the constitution alone to end coups but create a law stating the death penalty for coup makers. Then another dozen laws regarding misuse of state funds (the military belongs to the state) and ancillary laws that can’t be quashed easily.
  16. Met Prayut once to ask (together with many others) for him to take action on waste management. He got upset and declared, “Don’t you know, I’ve got a country to build!”
  17. The couple who passed the building couldn’t understand why it was raining on them only.
  18. He is accused of malfeasance. The article makes no attempt to explain further what the articles mean is unhelpful.
  19. I will be happy if Pita is chosen. A pity he thinks politics is about giving people what they want.
  20. Democracy is not what is on the Senators' minds.
  21. Just fit the sub with pedals the crew can use to recharge the batteries. You're welcome Thailand.
  22. Ask for permission and he will say gasp, gasp, hurrr, herrrr.
