  1. When I turn on the main breaker one of the follow 3 outcomes occur, randomly 1. Lights start flickering all over the house 2. no power even comes on 3. power comes on and ever Is normal it’s the first one that seems to happen often, this is my concern. edit: however some of the sockets are wired wrong and some of the earths in the sockets are not connected properly, this happened after the so called electrician installed new sockets yesterday. I’m just going round correcting these issues at the moment
  2. So the incoming neutral should go into the ground bar first before going into the main breaker? Mine does not…. and my main breaker should be a RCBO?
  3. Yes, not the case, one goes outside and other goes to 2nd consumer unit. what is the purpose of connecting the ground bar to the neutral bar?
  4. I do not see where the ground bar is connected to the neutral bar?
  5. Socket tester says first socket is correct. what have they done? Just randomly use blue and brown for live and neutral with no logic?
  6. the ground bar is the top bar, correct? the black cable on the far left runs to the second consumer unit, the black cable next to it, one in from the left, runs outside the house.
  7. Where’s the ground bar? and which one is the neutral input? The black cable going into the main C63 breaker?
  8. Do you mean these two cables? The one on the right runs down into another consumer unit. Both the cables of the main C63 breaker go directly outside to the PEA meter
  9. Panasonic socket, one side has L other side has N, so why is there a blue and brown going into both sides? Is this correct? it then runs two cables to the socket next to it, that socket, when I plug in my socket tester shows a fault “wire - neutral switch”
  10. When I switch on the main C63 breaker, sometimes no power comes on, sometimes power comes on and all house lights start flickering and sometimes everything just works as it should. Also is that earth wire, which comes from an aircon meant to be going where it goes? See red arrow.
  11. I want to move my consumer unit a few inches to the left. because I want to have a cupboard hide it all. how can I switch the electric off? Can I do it at the meter?
  12. Yes that small black cable goes to a pump that pumps water directly to the house, so thats not the pump next to the water well. We have two pumps one from well to tank and then one inline from tank to house. I thought perhaps power comes via the float switch in the tank, but cant see how that happens as the top breaker has a feed to the bottom breaker and that feed is always providing power as the bottom breaker always has power flowing to the inline pump to the house.
  13. Thank you! Do you think its okay run the cable along the wall by attaching some conduit to it and cable through that?
  14. Monsoon may arrive where we live shortly and I want to get the electric cable that runs to the well pump off the ground in case of flooding. Which type of 2.5x2 cable should I use? That black cable that’s very flexible, or that white cable that is quite stiff? Also should I run a conduit along the wall with the cable inside? Or do I need to gets some concrete posts to suspend it from? See pictures below I fell the whole system is a complete mess and any advice is very much appreciated, thank you! P.S. that cable in the box that doesn't seem to terminate with anything, is not live, theres no electric in it according to my multimeter reading.
  15. Hello everyone... I need to get a video camera fitted in my car that can record all around the car as i drive. This is needed for accidents, so I can show the police or whoever what actually happened. The way tourists on bikes drive during high season is quite concerning, and is the main issue, if I have an accident I don't want to get into a heated discussion about what each party thinks happened, I want to be able to have a video of what really happened. Does anyone have any experience with buying a camera(s) on Lazada or Shopee and installing it in the car themselves? Or is the consensus to get a garage to supply and install one? Btw, I have a Toyota Yaris if that makes any differnce. much thanks for any replies.
  16. Im from the UK so Im okay with the Cambridge system leading to GSCE and A-level, but im also okay with the IB system as ive heard good things about it. Interesting to know the Phuket schools have waiting lists. In terms of universities the ones i checked had people going to both UK and US universities which is the preffered locations. Thank you for your advice
  17. yeah i just looked long that road, i didnt see any schools apart from thai schools
  18. My thinking is if they enter a school now and it turns out to be the wrong choice or perhaps Bangkok is the wrong city to live in, we have time to move and select another school or location to live be in it in Thailand or overseas. But if I wait until my daughter is 11 years old and would start what we call secondary school in the UK, i dont want to move her after that, so would rather try now and have options then do this when she's is 11 years old.
  19. yes, from what I've seen application fee is not refundable, but what else can we do as we have no knowledge of which schools are over subscribed and have the higher chance of rejection from, so we must just apply to many, like 4 or 5 schools.
  20. thanks, seems like some schools are over subscribed then and we will certainly get some rejections.
  21. I know what you mean, I know people who had very expensive educations and turn out to do nothing in life and others with much lower cost education that achieve highly in later life. However, as the cost is not an issue, im leaning towards trying to get them into a so called "top" school.
  22. Thanks, so it seems there are different opinions here, that perhaps all wont just hand out an admission. I do worry about this, my daughter is only 6 and although she's British, her written English is very basic and her reading level also low.
