  1. I posted this in the Loas forum but got zero replies... Going on a 3,200km round trip drive (yes painfully long drive) to Savannakhet for a Non-O multi Spouse visa. If my wife and two kids (all Thai) want come over the border to Savannakhet with me, do they needs Thai passports? its just my kids are 2 and 6 and so don't have Thai ID cards yet. Thanks for any replies!
  2. I understand Thai Nationals dont need a visa to entry Loas, (specifically interested in Savannakhet), but what about Thai children, do they need a Thai passport if they are under 7 years old as they wont have a Thai ID card at that age.
  3. I also love those shops, and I wish I could I could easily go to them, but.... (rant coming...) it would involve a car drive total 6 hours round trip, total travel time 9 hours, and cost over 2000 baht and i would be very tired when I got back. Where I live for the most part everything comes via Lazada/Shopee (you should see the Flash and Kerry delivery depots here, like 20,000 parcels arrive each day and 3 underpaid thai workers pile them up from floor to ceiling in messy disorganised piles and wait 4 days as their underpaid understaffed delivery team cant deliver them and they can send them back to the suppliers, and avoid the work of actually delivering them!) or Homepro delivery (no physical HomePro store, in fact where I live HomPpro don't even allow ordering on their website!) having said that we do have a Makro!!
  4. Again thank you for your advice A cable gland like this? https://www.lazada.co.th/products/cable-grand-pg-1-1-i4000204260-s15525404354.html? Im guessing the PGXX is the diameter of scree thread? Yes I don't really need a universal socket, I just can not find one with a Thai socket. I wont be using it in IP66 weather, only using it on sunny dry days, I just thought it might be better to get an IP66 socket for safety? "Unless your extension is really long 1.5mm2 would normally be adequate." how long is long? is 100m long? 50m long?
  5. Thank you, once again invaluable advice, much appreciated. What would you think if I made my own using this IP66 socket https://www.lazada.co.th/products/weatherproof-5-ip66-i3948996385-s15242600899.html? This 100m 3 core 2.5 cable https://www.lazada.co.th/products/vct-3x25-100-50-pks-i3297029179-s12395126938.html? And this plug https://www.homepro.co.th/p/1218707? It it was all wire up properly is this safe? Use case would be garden tool and power tools
  6. I had a cable extension what I call a cable wheel like this one https://www.lazada.co.th/products/vct-2x1-sqmm-20-2-i1127236691-s8075863673.html? which recently broke, it was very old. Anyhow, a friend who was over on holiday was shocked that the wheel was made from metal, and said "better get a plastic one next time". Looking on Lazada, they all seem to be made from metal, I did find this one https://www.lazada.co.th/products/randy-4-30m-20m-i2910429662-s10653925778.html? which says "Abandon the steel shell, Thai design, change to durable engineering plastic instead, reducing the risk of electric shock" although it seems to be more than double the price of the Thai Metal one. My question is: Are the Thai metal wheel ones really a danger? Also what does everyone think of the non wheel ones like https://www.lazada.co.th/products/vct-2x1-20-30-nano-2x4-i2147710836-s12619864728.html? im quite tempted to get this one as the price is much lower And second question is, what cable do i really need? I really want a 30m cable, to plug in a makita pressure washer https://www.lazada.co.th/products/makita-hw1300-hw-1300-hw-1300-hw-1300-i661414623-s1289764316.html? The pressure washer says its 1800 watts. do I need a 1, 1.5, 2.5, 4 mm cable....
  7. I understand that, but Im meant to set up a Wise account and they transfer to my Wise account, there is no thai baht receiving option on Wise
  8. Someone wants to send me a payment and asked if I had Wise (transferwise) I said no but ill set one up. So i go and set up a Wise account but I can see no option to receive Thai Baht, it seems I have to receive it in a foreign currency? Then what do I do? transfer it to my Thai account and get some weird exchange rate that will not really match the Thai Baht that the payment am am to receive should be? All the information online seems to be about sending Thai Baht overseas not about receiveing Thai Baht
  9. Thank you This was for Non-O married to a Thai visa, right? Thai bank or foreign bank? How much cash are they looking for?
  10. Thinking about going to Ho Chi Minh to get a Non O multiple entry visa based on thai spouse, like in the good old days pre covid! Their website seems to imply it's possible, a bit vague on what the financial proof required is. Has anyone done this recently? any positive (or negative) outcomes? many thanks
  11. Thank you! that’s really helpful as I now have some understanding about an RCBO
  12. Thanks I will follow that advice, from hearing your recommendations im getting a UK electrician who lives locally to come in and sort this all out. thank you for your invaluable help!
  13. Reason we have currently have no RCBO is I brought 2 RCBO for the bathrooms but the electrician said he couldn’t install them as the bathrooms have no earth cable. The only electric in the bathrooms are two 12v recessed downlights. The hot water comes from a boiler in the loft. I do have 1. a 100L boiler in the loft 2. A undercounted instant water heater in the kitchen should these be on a RCBO? again thank you for such useful help.
  14. Thank you for your helpful feedback and suggestions. Here is the RCBO
  15. An electrician attempted to install an RCBO breaker in for the outside sheltered bar area, the RCBO was housed in the main house consumer box. Our house is well earthed with our own earth rod. The RCBO just tripped as soon as he put it in. However that electrician was a bit out of his depth..... so a new electrician has just come round. The new electrician said: 1. The RCBO breaker will trip all the time because of the moisture 2. The RCBO breaker will trip because of thunder/lightning 3. The bar has a fridge and freezer and the cable running to the bar should be 4mm not 2.5 So the advice here on the forum was to put a RCBO in (which i agree with) but now the electrician is saying it will just always trip, so im unsure how to proceed?
  16. Thanks for this idea. We have already wired it all up and this is just an after thought, so this would require further work for the electrician to come back and make a new circuit for the Fridge and Freezer.
  17. What are we really taking about here, is it just a RCBO will trip faster than the standard breaker, is that the only consideration? and is that a real advantage outside of say a bathroom?
  18. so every socket inside your house uses a RCBO?
  19. do you think we need RCBO for the sockets behind the bar?
  20. We have just built a bar with freezer and fridge that is outside on the terrace. The roof is large and completely covers the area. Should the breaker for this area be RCBO? EDIT: We will be selling ice cream from this bar, so i would be concerned about an RCBO tripping to easily and all of the ice cream melting!
