I've renewed my passport since my last 1 year extension, and had all my stamps transferred by immigration. Today I went to Songkhla Immigration (Hat Yai) to renew my extension, as I was assembling my documents this morning I thought, will they want the old passport? I put it in just in case, lucky I did as they requested it, and copied all the pages from the last entry on my original visa.

Is this normal and will it be a continued requirement going forward?

I had to give them my old passport last year too because it contains my last entry into Thailand in 2020, which ties in with the white arrival card stapled into the new one.

Thailand and Thais have a habit of shooting themselves in the foot, never look a gift horse in the mouth it might kick you and spoil your day.

They are going to try and tax money I bring into this country every year, I won't be liable for tax in thailand but its the extra hoops I'm going to have to jump through just to show that, they think trying to tax retires will earn them billions - they really haven't thought it through

The Thai never think anything through it just knee jerk after knee jerk, mumbo jumbo statement after mumbo jumbo statement...

  3. I've been checking the dates now for along time as I inadvertently once bought a case that was several months old and had to throw the whole lot away it tasted so bad.

IME 3 months is about the max to sustain a good taste so I always try to buy as close to the date I am shopping on the case filled by date.

They always try that on with me at Trat IO, "oh its so much paperwork  winge winge....." As I told them don't blame me your the one's that want it, and if I'm sick will you pay my hospital bill as I can't take my money out?

They don't like the work involved, but what really pees me off after submitting my 26 documents 12 glossy photos signed my name 61 times, they then Scan it all into there data bass. Thailand 0.000004

The whole concept of computerisation and going digital is to eliminate paperwork but unfortunately your right, the Thai just can't understand it.

  5. There are many rocket festivals every year and the dates change constantly from 1 year to the next.

Some festivals are Amphur driven and some are local Tambon affairs so it's difficult to be able to pin down anything unless you have boots on the ground.

The Yasothon one is by far the most prestigious as it's what the province is most famous for.
