kuzmabruk replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
They reduced not removed tariffs. For LNG, the import tariff rate would be reduced from 5% to 2%, while the tariff on imported cars would be slashed from 64% to 32%. Ethanol tariffs would be reduced from 10% to 5%. -
Bangkok Building Collapse Sets Unwanted World Records
kuzmabruk replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
The unfortunate thing is that all if these good intentions will fall on deaf and dumb ears and nothing will actually be done. Talk is cheap and Thais love to talk but they don’t like to do.- 97 replies

For example MGM Grand in Las Vegas. MGM Grand in Las Vegas has over 5,000 rooms, and while exact room sizes vary depending on the room type, the average room size is approximately 400–500 square feet, which totals 2,250,000 sqft of hotel rooms and they have 171,500 sqft of casino floor. 7% for casino - not including the lobbies and shopping arcade. 10% is enormous

Thailand's Global Education Ranking Sparks Controversy and Scrutiny
kuzmabruk replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Sorry it took me so ling to respond, been bent over from laughing. My wife who graduated from technical college once asked me “why are there two” as she pointed to the moon on an early evening when both the sun and moon were visible. And she, like the vegetable salesman at Rumpoh market in Pattaya, do not know the name of any vegetable, they just say “si kyao” or green. She does know the names of most Thai fruits. And rivers, streams, lakes, ponds and all bodies of water are “nam”. So I definitely agree she is literate, at least compared with our two year old. -

Most likely Thaksin as the race will probably be moved to land he owns and the prime minister will have the government purchase the land for only 25 times what her dad paid for it. Such a deal can’t be turned down. I really hope he moves it to Na Jomtien. -

Tourist Bus Overturns in Phuket: 20 Injured

In Thailand the inspection is done when the vehicle is new before the first owner takes possession. Do vehicles need maintenance. Is that you are referring to? I don’t think Thai authorities or Thai people understand maintenance. -
Thailand's Smile Fades: Nation's Global Happiness Rank Falls

I built a house in Chaiyaphum for the wife’s grandmother. During the hanging of the fluorescent tube fixtures, I had the electrician connect the fixtures and he left them hanging so they almost touched the floor. I wanted him to test all the lights before mounting the fixtures to the ceiling. In walked my wife’s uncle and he grabbed my wife and started complaining. Turned out he wanted the fixtures to be raised up a little so he wouldn’t hit them when he was walking around the house. That is when my wife and I coined the phrase LOS = land of stupid. But her uncle does smile alot. 555 -

Over ripe. Infrastructure is antiquated based on 1980 standards. Chinese, Japanese and Korean people expect infrastructure to be solid, safe, convenient and Thailand has none of this. -

Inside the Prison Cell Where Thai Police Chief 'Joe Ferrari' Died
kuzmabruk replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
In Thai news my wife said blood was found outside the Joe’s cell. The warden replied to journalists that this came from the LGBTQ inmate having a period (menstruation). He was later made aware that lady boy’s can’t menstruate. The level of ignorance in Thailand is funny.
