  1. Good for you being rich. If not, getting 'happiness' from money, Thailand is probably not a good place, as most foreigners don't get rich in Thailand. But as surveys have shown, such 'happiness' related to money loses its edge as soon as people live comfortably, i.e. more money beyond that comfort level, and it won't lead to any more 'happiness'...
  2. Even if, she would still have to explain why she was carrying the passport of someone else.
  3. No, as she isn't a corrupt former PM.
  4. In Thailand probably more often Nam Pla...
  5. That's right. Just like Thailand, they want people to spend money domestically. Plus, a large number of outbound travellers may lead to larger RMB outflows, and, possibly, a further weekening of the yuan, which the CCP currently wants to avoid at all costs.
  6. Group of 1,000 travellers? Sounds more like an invasion...
  7. I'm curious, how record rice and other agricultural exports, and bad growing conditions add up. Did domestic consumption slow down?
  8. There are certainly fakes and unjustified reviews. However, I'd think that due to rapid employee turnover (e.g. chefs), scores may have to be taken with a grain of salt. I wouldn't rely on reviews that are older than 6 months.
  9. Great plan. Instead of the glass bottles, the aluminium cans will pile up. This despite the fact that it is much easier to reuse and recycle glass bottles...
  10. Everything is used in order to make a quick buck in this "Buddhist" country...
  11. Saw that too. Chinese family of four spends the day at a mall, but, instead of buying food at the food court, or one of the dozens of restaurants, they bring and carry around their lunch in tupperware.
  12. Damn. Billionaires; exactly the kind of tourists Thailand is vying for. If it hadn't been for the overlord party poopers who wanted them back...
  13. Fair enough. The boss already went to Cambodia...
  14. A few Vietnamese were recently busted for illegally selling food (and were prominently mentioned in the media), and I met a number of Vietnamese girls online, who came here to do, well, let's call it 'social work' that doesn't officially exist in Thailand... I doubt that any of them came as 'contract workers' here, but most probably as tourists.
  15. True. Back home the brand 'Thailand' lost appeal years ago, and high living and flight costs don't help either. The country seems to become popular with single Indians and Russians (for very different reasons) though, so, if they are smart and don't just bet on China, they might get lucky with short-haul tourists.
  16. That's like saying: "Thai households will stop amassing debt..."
  17. Thailand had a good run with 28 million or so tourists this year. Attracting 39 million again won't be easy. Probably not achievable in 2024 either.
  18. And? With all the cameras around, didn't they find out about the license plate? (Works when there's a robbery...)
  19. Interesting. I'll read up on that.
  20. Yes, I know Thais who don't know the difference between King Mongkut and Mang-Kut (mangosteen)...
  21. The thing is that in Thailand and also other Asian countries not the Hindu version is used, but very often the Nazi one... (I know many Thais who adore Hitler and Nazis.) As for the 'wrong' direction in other countries (e.g. Malaysia), who knows...
  22. I was very surprised to see Nazi swastikas in Kuala Lumpur recently. As there are many Indian-Malaysians living there, I would have expected to see the Hindu version, but no, they really pointed to the 'wrong' side Nazi style.
  23. Not surprised in a country where parents name their kids Hitler, or Nazi... https://thethaiger.com/news/national/should-you-name-your-baby-hitler-nazi-the-n-word
  24. And I thought many tourists came from neighbouring countries... My guess is that most Malaysians do not come here for a beach holiday.
