A single-entry tourist visa used to be 1,000 baht in some neighbouring countries. Other than that, embassies make up their own prices, depending what exchange rate to the Thai baht they think is appropriate. Meaning, the embassy in France has a more realistic exchange rate, while in Belgium they possibly anticipate, at an exchange rate of 1:25, a further decline of the euro. ????

I noticed a general decline of good bread on offer over the past couple years, Big C, some Villa Markets, etc. Of course, Covid-19 and a lower number of expats and tourists didn't help. -

My experience, so far, is actually pretty good. Able to book with Agoda, two international airlines, and an international tour booking company. (In the latter case a lousy exchange rate, though: 37.28 to the dollar.)

I got an SMS what number to call, but even though I dialled #2 for English language, I never got past an endless recorded message in Thai. I then tried to split the amount into two, but my second transaction was declined, so I reckon the daily limit is either 20,000 or 15,000 baht. It's not a big problem, as my payments are usually lower.

Tried to pay a bill with my K-Bank debit card. Turns out 28,000 baht is above the limit for a transaction. Anyone knows the 'limit'?

Fair enough. If you have relatives and friends who take you in, meaning you live there for free, and employers who will hire you anyway, even if it is illegal, then it is a win-win, of course.

My landlady charges 8 baht as usual, but instead of 4 baht + 4 baht 'service charge', the bill this time said '5 baht + 3 baht service charge'.

Well, as a foreigner in Thailand, those people are the ones I follow on YouTube (e.g. Simon Whistler, standup comedians, talkshow hosts, etc.), or actors/characters of my favourite TV shows, and, on rare occasions, other foreigners or Thais I meet for a limited time.

The age-old belief that 'money grows on trees' in the West. Also, the lack of knowledge about housing crisis and high living costs. Yes, wages may be twice** what they are in Mexico, but housing and other living costs are four times** as much (**example!). - Do these people google what life is like 'up north' before heading there? I don't think so...
