If she wants a good clean fairly new Condo with nice views to the south of Chopraya River with a high floor and a parking space. She will have to reduce the size to 35sq mtr or increase her budget. At the moment the GBP is in freefall but will make back ground as soon as the EU negotiations sre done with.

I would suggest renting an unfurnished Condo at the start and see how it goes. Rents ate cheap and it will give her a foothold and knowledge of areas and buildings she may like. My Condo is on the 30th floor of a newish Condominium near BTS TalatPhlu and BTS Pho Nimit on the Silom line. Easy to get into town for dinner or a drink. 1 Bed with balcony 35 sq mtr pool, sauna, gym, library. Well maintained. Narai group. 3.5mb last may fully furnished to a good standard. Prices have increased by 10% since then and the £ has dropped by 30%. I would say wait a couple of years before buying.

How much does the condo cost?

PS not sure about your GBP prediction, if the ECB unwinds its QE next year, the € might get even stronger

I have a Garmin Edge 810.. Long battery life, waterproof, includes a mounting bracket, links to my heart rate monitor and my cadence sensor. Highly recommended and not that pricey.

Hi Pdaz, when you say 'not that pricey', what's the typical price of this in Thailand?

    Thanks!

Why don't you want to use a phone, out of interest?

It seems to me GPS devices are made almost obsolete by the emergence of the GPS apps.

    Phone downsides:

    - mounting it on the handlebars, feel free to point me to a decent mount....

    - battery life

    - not waterproof

    - if I get good I want to see my cadence :post-4641-1156694572: maybe there is a mobile app to do this now?

These a overpriced Chinese crap, if you're looking for reasonably quality look at the Java brand for Chinese rubbish. At that price though you can get a Merida or Giant with Tiagra which would be a better long term investment. Or take a look at Nich, it's a Thai brand based on Chinese open mold frames, painted in Thailand but generally have good support/service

    Thanks for the reply

OK I'm up for a Giant, Defy would be good, got any prices you can point me too?

Re the Nich, I just looked at their website and the KEM alloy frame and carbon fork is 1.6kg for 580 Usd (excluding shipping). I don't see anything special there unless I can get a 50% discount somewhere? ;-)

  5. Hello cyclists!

Looking at coming to Thailand and buying a bike

@StreetCowboy did you buy your Avanti locally and what was the spec/cost?

I've seen a Twitter Rocket with 105 5800 at around 25000baht, seems like a good deal?

If I wanted to push the boat out where could I get a Synapse or Defy for cheap?

    Also looking for a GPS

    Thanks!
