Why would you remove the windscreen unless it was broken? Makes no sense whatsoever. Anyway, it isn't normal practice to remove a windscreen for tint, and as many will tell you, it's not necessary to have tint on a windscreen, side and rear windows are sufficient.

Many can tell anything they think it's true, but I always had a tint because of course it is useful to protect an expensive German car interior leather from sun. And many still do not seem to understand that with 7500 thb (for windshield) tint, one can see exactly as clearly as without film.

    Thank you for your reply.

Tinting car windscreens is dangerous. May seem fine in the daylight, but night vision is very definately darkened, and in Thailand, the last thing you need is diminished vision ...... night or day.

I'm guessing that many expats would be of senior age, and let's be honest, our eyesight is no longer as good as it used to be, particularly at night.

Windscreen tinting is banned in many countries, for good reason.

Having 3M cristaline is like having nothing, perfectly clear, even the darkest. But it protects from heat and UV.

Many people have a tint on their windscreen and do not even know because it's light.

If I'm not mistaken no more than 30% filter (of visible light) is the max in Thailand.

Of course, people exceed that all the time - I don't and don't feel there is any need to, air-con works well... and the car would get hot it parked in the sun all day even with 100% tint / block.

In answer to the Ops question: NO.. it most definitely is not necessary to remove the windscreen or any windows upon installing tint.

Op: did they give you any reason for wishing to remove the windscreen? or are you simply assuming they might?

It's a shop that works for insurance companies and also change windshields, so I guess that they are trained to remove any windshield. So, because they know how to do and because it is easier to install film on a removed windshield, maybe the reason why they do it this way ? I had never seen this before also.

With a cutter knife, water, a hotair gun, patience, and skill. First lay it on outsides, blow hot air on it so the film takes the contour of the glass, then wet the inside and put it on. Squeeze the water out between glass and film and cut it to form. Done.

so you mean that they don't need to move the windshield ?

About 3M crystaline, the darkest CR40 already looks totally clear on the windshield, I don't think that it change vision even at night:

I can say i'm very happy with my 3M CR70. No problems to see at night. I am now close to 40 years old, so I can feel my vision at night is not as it used to be. Heat protection is also very good.

Now my GF wants it too. We fitted a 30% tint on hers from the dealer, but she complains she can't see well in the dark..

Sorry, can you explain more ?

Difference between 3M CR70 and 30% film that you fitted on her car ?

CR70 looks darker from outside but you can still see clear from inside ?

  6. Car Window Film Tint, which brand for 1800 thb (windshield) ? Lamina, V-Kool, 3M ? Or more expensive Sea Launch, Legend, Crystaline ?

Hi, I was quoted 1800 thb only for windshield and have to choose between  Lamina, V-Kool or 3M (not cristaline).

Is 3M still the best even not crystaline ? 40% ?

Some other shops install Sea launch film (3500) or Legend film (5000), supposed to be good but who knows ?

3M cristaline costs 7500 thb, way too much for a piece of plastic ?

And do you know if they always remove the windshield to install film on it ? Scary process ?

    Any idea ?

The name of it is Parking Monitor T626 SE.

Have also some thai words in the title name.

I am very happy with it. The night quality picture is bright and good, which was most important to me.
Easy to use, have nice large screen, and all the functions it should have.

The only downside is that with 32GB (not included) SD card it records videos of about 2-3 days, depends how much you driving. That has something to do with good picture quality in good resolution, so the file is large.
When SD card is full, it overrides the older recordings.

Not a big deal, because if something happens, usually you take that video right after or on the same day.

    All dashcam work this way.

I do not think that you can see number plates clearly, especially at night ?

I buy the frozen chicken breast from Betagro....and feed it to my pets. A fair amount of suspect meat products around.

If you are one of those who buys their chicken from those open to the air trays at the supermarkets, those are thawed out products anyway. So you might as well buy frozen from Betagro in the first place.

So I only purchase certain pre-packed products.

    Which ones are good ?

    What is your budget?

For example a 1 Mbps unlimited package with AIS would set you back 321 baht.
    *777*7153#

    4 Mbps Unlimited 481.5 baht *777*7155#

    6 Mbps Unlimited  588.50 baht *777*7211#

    http://www.ais.co.th/one-2-call/addon/nonstop.html

Do you know whether those allow tethering? Link doesn't give detail. I'm thinking i could use as backup for my TV box

How could them ban tethering ? They have no way to even know.

Why would you write something so idiotic?

The mere fact that you quote the worst value plans from each network, speaks to the paucity of your knowledge of the subject.

Further to that, the OP indicated that high bandwidth is not of the essence to his application, so  the focus is on value.

A capped bandwidth, unlimited data bundle seems appropriate. As running out of data during a class won't do. They also offer better value than the overly expensive plans that you posted.

DTAC 1 Mbps 30 day plan costs 321 baht per month

DTAC 4 Mbps 30 day plan costs 535 baht per month

AIS 1 Mbps 30 day plan costs 321 baht per month

AIS 4 Mbps 30 day plan costs 481.5 baht per month

TRUEMOVE H 1 Mbps 30 day plan costs 321 baht per month

TRUEMOVE H 4 Mbps 30 day plan costs 535 baht per month

So there we are comparing like for like and more suitable plans.

As to speeds, AIS offers the best in the locations I use. I recommend that people run their own tests in their locations, in order to ascertain which is best for them.

I'm sure just about everyone perusing this thread and/or with any knowledge of my posts on this forum are confident in my knowledge. Which no doubt puts yours to shame.

My advice to you is to stop embarrassing yourself. I doubt if you will take it. Surprise me.

P.S. My personal DTAC number is more than twelve years old.

I won't even reply to your mine is bigger than yours game, as you just inspire me pity.

    But easy to compare...

How stupid is it to pay 535 for slow internet when you get A LOT better speed for 399, especially if you have no risk to use more than 4.5GB ?

Actually you are quite wrong. It is certainly not as simple as that.

Apart from that you are selective with the packages that you chose to list.

    *900*8820# is TrueMove H's 12 GB 4G package for 799 baht + VAT. http://truemoveh.truecorp.co.th/topping/4g_topping_en.html

AIS has many options. They also have a 12 GB package at 799 baht + VAT.  *777*987#  Though it's not listed as their highest speed package.

There are many options to get more data for less than is illustrated by the packages you have listed.

It all comes down to the way you want to use the Internet and your budget.

To suggest that DTAC is the cheapest is patently wrong.

Ridiculous, why not just accept that you know nothing ?

There is nothing else to know than what I wrote and I am sure that the OP will understand it:

AIS IS THE WORST ! I have it only as a backup but i use it 1 time a year only ! It's such pain in the a and ridiculous speed almost anywhere in Thailand !

Thanks for the help I've been doing a bit of reaching. And the only other option for me which I can afford and get to easy is. Jomtien Tony's for 900 THB. Which I think is worst then fitness 7.but it dose have its advantages. Closer I can even walk there so don't care to much about the showers. And 600THB cheaper. But how much worse is it then fitness 7 anyone know?

I am thinking of trying out all the gyms which I can get to for a day. I might even pay for a trainer for a day just so I know how to use the equipment.then I can join what one I want.

I would not even go to Tony if you paid me 10000 thb a day...

So scare to die because of the old rusty machines.

You should have a look before you even dare to compare the WW1 tony gym and brand new Fitness 7.

If 600 thb is so much a concern exercise for free on the beach, but do not go to Tony.
