  1. If you want cheaper hotel rooms and good cheap food in Singapore at streetside cafes I recommend you go to Geylang ( no..not gay ) Its out of town a bit but theres a good train service. The meals and beer are cheaper than in the city and you have the extra fun of watching the activities of the Vietnamese  hookers that abound there as they try and stay one step ahead of the police but they are not cheap.

"THEY" are just a bunch of badly paid angry stuck in a <deleted>ty job gov workers that have not much in their lives and need to vent their frustration at everyone they can.

As my friend Mr Google predicts, this seems to be a worldwide phenomenom.

PS: Yeah the ones in singapore are nice, and the ones in Dubai - you can make a guess what they earn there to know why.

Everything hebought is wrapped in plastic. How much damage would a couple of plastic bags make?

All the crisp bags would probably end up on the side of roads/sois.

Thats the stupid part about it.No more plastic bag so we can save the world but nearly everything you buy is wrapped in plastic. If the Gov.was serious about it they would ban ALL plastic and plastic wrappers.

Hahahahahaha, yep when they did the bag ban in Aus last year there was massive public butthurt and outrage too !!

This whole plastic bag thing is a rort.In Australia the big stores stopped giving out the free thin plastic bags and instead sell you a much thicker bag that takes 20 years to break down for 15 cents each. This is gonna bring them approx.15million $ extra profit per year. Yes you can buy the cloth bags but from my observations I would say that 70% dont bring any bags and buy these (including me )who forget or were not planning to shop.

Reducing plastic bags = more profit for the retailers,a windfall,

yes I know we should be getting rid of plastic bags, they are evil,

but why not give us an alternative with paper bags.

    regards worgeordie

Fantastic idea  this will SAVE the world !! In QLD.Australia the government banned stores giving out the free light weight plastic bags to customers. However they now sell heavy duty plastic bags for 15 cents each instead. These bags take 50 years to break down.Thats really clever. It is estimated that the big supermarkets are making $80 million dollars A YEAR  out of this...I wonder who lobbied the gov. to bring this law in ??

    Excellent news

yes up to 5 years jail...never happens in Australia.Nobody ever gets the maximun sentence. This blokes lawyer will declare that his client used to wet the bed when he was young and his dad used to yell at him when he was naughty so he now has mental issues so the weak judge will give him a 12 mths. good behaviour bond and send him home and a $50 fine and .no jail...pathetic!!

A certain deputy minister was sentenced for his role on the distribution of 4kg or so of Heroin in no less than Australia.

So if he were to receive a death sentence for a fraction of the amount it would seem rather unjust.

Aside though, good to hear that the Ice has been removed from the system as its harm potential is scarily high.

z42,Everyboby has to realise that every country is entitled to make their own laws and and set their penalty and if you get caught committing a crime in Thailand and you are an Australian you cannot complain about the penalty when it is much worse than your home country which is Pxss weak.

As usual the reporting of this is poor, the story raises twice as many questions as the answers it gives.
Did they break in, or did he open the door ? Were they wearing masks, can they be identified ? Why did they flee through the back of the house ?
Seems a lot of risk for a THB 5000 reward. Should be 10 years inside for stupidity and 6 months for the crime

How do we know that the robbers were not wifes brothers.and one of them her thai husband.

I just finished 11 years of living/working in Malaysia. I was treated exceptionally well for everyone of those years, by Malaysians of all ethnicities, including ethnic Malaysian, who happen to be Muslim.

I have been to Malaysia and was treated very well by the locals. The only drama we had was the mongrel taxi drivers at the rank in Penang who refused to turn on their meter and they all quoted the same rip off price.
