I guess we live in a different Thailand, none of the above has ever happened to me in my 30+ years here, the TVF view of life in Thailand summed up? it's really not that bad you know

@Iceland states that "pickpocket" know farang! never known anyone be pick pocketed here either.

I live the same Thailand as yours but this kind of informations where the Farang bring their money seems really naive to believe that Thailand can remain as it is now in the next few years and could give new ideas to those who today wonder where I'm going to get the money tomorrow.

Until a few years ago I was able to put money in a carton box to buy potatoes from the farmer in Iceland, then the money and potatoes disappeared. Nothing stays fixed, everything is in motion, especially bad things

    2. Noh, 39, from South Korea was arrested in the car park of Tak immigration. He had been found to have left Thailand on November 8th but come back without a stamp in his passport.

Arrested in the parking lot of the immigration Tak office where she went to ask for a stamp because he realized that he had not received it on the passport at the airport :clap2:

Almost 100% (you can never be 100% sure in Thailand).  As far as I know, and all the info points to it, is that this is part of the dual track system planned for the whole of Thailand.  The elevated section is only 4km through Hua hin.  The rest is ground level.  More stations and better platforms to allow disabled etc etc. plus bridges and u-turns are also planned.

1 metre track is the most common in Thailand (over 4,000 kms) whereas 'standard track' is only laid in 80 kms

High Speed trains need a standard gauge track (1.4 mtrs).

And the program is only doubling the tracks, therefore the existing track I do not think we can speak of high speed at a maximum of 120/130 Km per hour and in any case no one spoke of high speed for the trains from Bangkok to Chumpong but only a doubling of the away, and in any case a very safe and fast means of transport for Thailand has also been told by the government that there is an intention to buy new trains for next year, but then all the high managers of the railway company have given the resign, why nobody know , only wait and see.....

The dual track train is going to be great. I am really looking forward to seeing the new train station in Hua Hin and exploring the dozens of new stations being built all up and down the coast. This will be finished about the time I will stop riding my motorcycle so good timing for me. And I can go south to PKK even faster. The new train station at Bang Sue is going to be amazing. Super futuristic building.

Don't forget to vote for me for POTY. Do it right now and you immortal soul will be saved.

I heard Hua Hin is being renamed Petticoat Junction.

What surprises me most is the fact that they contract U-turn bridges where they could simply make a bridge, for a greater cost and greater profit I suppose for contractors, Thai logic evidently but all this lengthens the time of realization.

I am eagerly waiting for you to be able to use the train instead of other means of transport such as my scooter but seeing how the work on the majority of the bridges and pipelines of the new fast railway proceed, I fear that we would have to wait several years to be able to use the train, on many bridges I don't see anyone working for a long time or just too few average 5 or 6 workers for which reason I ignore it. So I foresee and I hope I'm wrong that we should wait at least 2 or 3 years longer than expected to take the semi-fast train and certainly not a high speed train, hoping that in the meantime also trains and locomotives will change.
I hope that you could go on your big bike for more a long time.????

Thai Friend of mine has 3 wife's, they all live together at his home.

When I visit I notice they act like sisters each with chores decided by rank.

Number one is who serves and takes care of Guests, Number two takes care of the children,

Number three does the house cleaning. However they help each other over all.

I asked him how and why have Three wife's, he said if only two, they gang up on him all the time.

But with Three they gang up on each other and leave him alone.

He says he has a Happy Home.

The Chinese always went to Vietnam. They share a 786 mile border. Those in border areas have trade passes for daily crossings. No mention of fiddled figures there of course. Market traders get marked down as entries anyway.

Most Chinese by the way means more than 700m. Only 130m hold passports/trade passes.

    Chinese tourists by destination:

"A study carried out by the Institute for Population and Social Research at Mahidol University using data from 2010, suggested that there were approximately 440,000 expats living in Thailand, which included 141,000 Chinese, 85,000 Brits, 80,000 Japanese, 46,000 Indians, 40,000 Americans, 24,000 Germans and 23,000 French"

    https://news.thaivisa.com/article/38177/the-mystery-of-exactly-how-many-expats-live-in-thailand

Multiply by average 60,000 Baht per month (midpoint between 40k and 80k Immi. visa requirement)

    440,000 x 60,000 baht x 12 months =  THB 316.8 bill. or USD 10.6 bill. almost 3% of GDP!

    Some pittance!

    ...Jul 28, 2019

Because no data now after about ten years, probably because they don't want to say that there is a division to be made for two of the long-term tourists.

    Try this:

Average tourist spends 6, 250 baht per day for an average eleven days per year.

Average retiree expat spends 1,500 baht per day for 365 days per year.

Tell us again that retiree spending is a pittance!

I spend much more, you have to make a medium spend more height for tourist long time I believe
