Never in the field of human history has anyone wasted so much time and effort as Thai government wastes on moronic pointless schemes that will so obviously fail to achieve anything useful.
I suspect less than a hundred people will use this scheme. Maybe less than 10. Why bother designing such a useless thing.

China already have very good vaccine. Already tested on many many people. Coming soon to Thailand. Cheap and best by Alibaba!
I will not be taking a Chinese vaccine. I don't trust the Chinese Communist Party one bit!!! I believe they are interested only in money, power and control. But I would advise everyone else to feel free to do what they want. That's the difference.

Isn't Anutin that moron who said he wanted to slap any medic who was so careless that they caught COVID when treating patients?
The health Minister wants to slap the doctors and nurses who are doing the best they can to help people!!! We should never forgive morons like Anutin.

Locusts. They have no idea about what they destroy at home or abroad. Their education system does not teach critical thinking. They are not capable of independent thought.
It's true that Sihanoukville was pretty poor before the Chinese. But now it is the <deleted>hole of the universe.

Opening Thailand to tourism: STV arrivals delayed until 25 Oct - after Vegetarian Festival
Wow! Putting tourism on hold because of the Vegetarian festival. But the Chinese tourists are going to be locked in a room for two weeks. Tested multiple times. And will be cleared by the time they are released from quarantine. What are they scared of?

Chinese: 778
Which Thais want to learn Chinese? I guess the ruling party might want to cosy up to their puppetmasters and paymasters. But how many normal sane people would want to learn it? Approximately zero! And how many Chinese can teach good English. Again zero!. Aren't the authorities suspicious? The crackdown should start with the Chinese. Should be easy fish to catch.

Regularly stealing technology? Here's another statistic for clueless people like you:
Ranking of the 10 countries who filed the most international patent applications in 2019China is a developmental state. Look at what that means. The UK and Germany did it in the 1800s. Japan and Korea after the second world war. Its a way of developing without paying by the rules of the market and gaining an unfair advantage over companies that do. China's economic model is 200 years old. It is not superior to that of any other country. Selatan, you are ignorant and unaware or very very young. China's education system is regulated so that people are not taught independent critical thinking. Science is safe. China lies about its history to its people. It forces neighbouring countries to airbrush the atrocities of China and the CCP out of their own history. I know because I have been forced in this way by the CCP. Selatan, you are an ignorant product of a diminished education system. Or a member of the CCP? Which is it?

We should distinguish between the Chinese Communist Party which keeps its people down and uneducated, and the people themselves who are victims of the regime, even though most don't realise.
My guess is that if you do a survey among local middle income countries, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Phillipines, Myanmar, Laos, Malaysia.... there would be an even more negative opinion of China than in distant western countries who have only just started to wake up.

Before anyone gets too excited, the grand arrival of the first batch of STV Chinese on Thursday has now been canceled and a new committee, headed by General Natthaphon Nakphanic, will be formed on Friday to figure out some way to relief tourists of their money without actually letting the filthy bastards into the country.Generals are trained to direct troops in military battles.
What the hell is a General doing in charge of the future of the tourism sector?
It's bound to end in disaster!!!
Just like putting an airforce pilot in charge of Thai Airways didn't work out too well.
In what universe is putting uneducated, inexperienced and not very clever military people in important civilian jobs a good idea?

Is it possible to complain about misrepresenting the truth in Thailand? The smiling, helpful and polite looking immigration woman in this photo bears no resemblance at all, in the slightest to the stern, mean spirited, battle-axe I deal with at Chaeng Wattana. Why do they want to appear approachable in the photos and then train their staff to be obnoxious and unhelpful? It doesn't make sense.

The Chinese Communist Party is really bad imo. They don't let people choose their own government - who represents them. They arrest people for criticising the CCP. Political freedom is not allowed. Freedom of expression, assembly and association is not allowed. These are basic human rights in most countries, but not in China.
They brainwash the kids at school with propaganda about being obedient. They don't teach independent critical thinking in school. They don't allow teaching of multiple perspectives of history or anything about human rights.
That's why Chinese people cannot integrate anywhere in the world. They don't know how to interact with other people. When they go to other places they can only form enclaves of Chinese. It's pretty sad. That's why the CCP is bad imo. As well as those that defend it.

How about British people who have been in Laos since COVID started? Laos is a low risk country you would think. Could the Brits there go to the Thai embassy in Vientiane and get an STV? Or would their passport bar them?

The Bangkok Bank branch near Sukhumvit Soi 10 (Bangkapi) has caused a lot of problems. I do believe they have quite a few incompetent staff there. Often the first response of their counter staff is wrong and you have to push to get what you want done.
TYo do basic things on your account like change details can take days. Sometimes more than a week. They need to get authorization from head office to do the simplest things. There are several other problems. Their systems are old and don't talk to each other. The processes are complicated and the staff don't understand them.
Maybe its just the branch, but I can't recommend Bangkok Bank and will change soon.

When an army general usurps power, these are the rules you get. He needs to find some clever advisers to make up for his intellectual problems.

This guy is the Minister responsible for keeping the seas clean and protecting the environment.
And he goes to the coast one day and sees a load of garbage and is disgusted.
So he orders an immediate clean up by the agencies that he is responsible for, and has been responsible for for a long time.
It's like a children's story. Something a 5 year old could understand. Are there any grown-ups in Thailand? Has this guy been sleeping for the last 50 years?
And will ordering an immediate clean up achieve anything. If the Minister and agencies responsible don't have the first idea of what that involves.

I cant imagine any westerners being interested in parting with million to live in a military dictatorship.
The only people likely to be interested are Chinese. They have got used to having no political or civil rights after 70 years of the CCP.
To them, Thailand is a free and open place. Little do they know its going to have the same laws as China in 5 years time. Thailand is not the bolt hole they think it is.

So there are 150,000 tourists potentially on overstay who could be thrown in jail or forced to leave the country.
And they are opening up the special tourist visa category for 300 people per week to help the tourism sector.
If they wanted to help the tourism sector why not just.............erm.........no. TIT.

That's exactly what Thailand needs to get it kickstarted from COVID. This government continues to spend more on infrastructure than any other previous government.
I think it would be best to borrow the money from China for infrastructure projects. They have billions of uneducated labourers and can build fast.
And the best part is you can borrow far more than you can afford. When its time to pay China back just tell them you don't have enough money. Like Laos and Sri Lanka. Give them some land instead and some advisor positions in your government. And a port for their navy or some other military bases. Nothing too big. Throw in a load of huge land concessions for their big government-linked conglomerates.
It's like money for nothing.
And the best thing about it is when China gives the money, you and your friends in the government can put some of it in your pockets. Buy your wife that new kitchen she has been talking about. Get a new car to show to the neighbours.
Its a win win.
But wait, the very best of it is, China will tell you how to get rid of democracy. Ban all opposition parties. Ban politics. And they can help you introduce security laws to ban freedom of expression, association and assembly.
So you can be in power for the rest of your life!! And then you can choose your successor. Perhaps it can be your son. Or a crony. No need for the people to have any say in who rules them any more.
You will be able to keep all the power and money as long as you want. Just do what the Chinese Communist Party says. That's all.

TAT are always positive, fun loving and optimistic like this.
It's a pity their boss comes from a time when dinosaurs were the most intelligent beings on the planet and dictators could rule countries with impunity.
He will definitely not allow people to have fun in quarantine. That is for sure. He has so little joy in his life he likes to suck the joy out of everyone and everything else. Everybody knows that.

For ten years now Thailand has has strategy to shift from low spend backpacker and retirees to high spend richer tourists.
Some management consultant must have told TAT to do it.
The problem is most of the tourism products bars, restaurants, hotels, guesthouses are geared to low spend tourists and pay for the jobs of the vast majority of the Thais in the tourism sector who earn a low income and have low skills.
If you get rid of that sector you are an idiot tourism authority and will kill 10% from your economy and throw millions out of work.
Maybe try it in 20 or 30 years when people are richer and better educated to find other jobs.

Imagine living in a country where the army, which is supposed to defend the country and its people, takes over by force and rigs an election to stay in power. And the General in charge thinks its OK for the people not to be able to choose their own government, nor to speak freely about what they think. And that its OK for the military of the country to kidnap and kill people for objecting. Hmmm. It doesn't sound sustainable to me.
But with the Chinese Communist Party trying to extinguish democracy and install dictators all around the world, maybe it is going to end in violence. I hope not. But educated young people want to be free and not under the control of the CCP. Even those in China.

Everything idea they have is unattractive. Keep it for eight years!!! Who is going to commit to invest a lot in any assets for eight years. Life is too short. They really have not got a clue about what people want.
However, I could imagine desperate Hong Kongers looking for a bolt hole. They should consider that Thailand is putting in place the same security laws and dictatorial regime as Hong Kong and getting rid of democracy in the same way. With the advice and support of the Chinese.
If they want a safe option they need to look further afield like UK, Australia or Canada.
