  1. Time to get used to Trump being the duly-elected president.  The Trump-haters have been trying to get rid of him for about 2-3 years now and it only makes him stronger.  He did indicate he will step down after his second term ends, though there will probably be a push to amend the constitution to let him stay on for one more. He will be too old, though.  Trump will be GONE in January 2025 and not before.  Just my opinion.

  2. Khun Took at that hospital by the Holiday Inn.  You might need a Thai doctor's referral to get an appt, though.

    EDIT:  Here's her contact info from the pinned topic above.

    Most other nationalities are required to submit evidence of income claimed to their embassy or consulate to get the income letter. Immigration is aware that some nationalities don't including Americans so their letters might be seen as having less credibility. Generally immigration accepts all letters without further evidence needed. But there are occasional "crackdowns" but they don't seem to last which may or may not target specific nationalities. The thing to always keep in mind is that immigration has every legal right for any reason to demand further evidence of any documentation that you submit which should be incentive to people to be honest and not to make fraudulent claims.

    Thanks. Good write up. Now one thing I do know is that the US Consulate also has every right to require proof that what you're swearing to is indeed true.  From the US Embassy Bangkok website:

    Refusal of Notarial Services
    Please be aware that a consular officer may refuse any notary service when:

        The document will be used in transactions that may be prohibited by U.S. law, treaty or foreign law;
        The host country does not authorize the performance of the service;
        The document is blank or incomplete;
        The officer believes that the document is suspicious, potentially illegal, or detrimental to the best interests of the United States;
        The officer does not understand the document, due to language or any other reason;

  4. I'm late to the party but am curious what non-Americans have to do.  Do they have to submit an embassy letter and financial documentation to immigration, or do they submit their financial documentation to their embassy and the embassy then certifies the amount?  Or something else?

    Look at post 62. Ok I admit I do not ask that exact question but the point I made is still valid.

    Will you answer the question now. Do you have children?

    So you confess now that you are caught.  You never asked that question and you knew it.  I don't play games with clowns like you.  You and I are through.

    It's one thing to be in the situation where you 'need' to use these plastic bags, perhaps because you forgot to bring your own, or didn't have time to get nylon or canvas ones. It's a whole different story to be HAPPY about contributing to the pollution problem, and joking about it. I jut don't get that.

    Work with it.

  7. Aaargh, Matey’s, a bountiful haul indeed!  Five Rimping plastic bags (they had to double-bag one of them), beautiful and destined not only for transport, but to also be my trash bags later on.  No need to ask for them; they were handing them out to everyone, no questions asked.

    I knew I was in the right store when I approached and saw a Thai woman leaving, her young son carrying the one bag of purchased items.  They were happy, and I was happy.  The convenience of the first world in wonderful Thailand!

    Uh, no.  The store should have given me a plastic bag, which they did.

    I guess you just don't give a <deleted> about the environment. Up to you.

    Not only do I use plastic bags, but I drive my big truck on routes serviced by songtaews, simply because it is more convenient.  My carbon footprint is huge.

    You should have been using your own reusable bag on your own volition without needing the store to force it on you. Been using my own bag in Thailand since I got here.

    Uh, no.  The store should have given me a plastic bag, which they did.

    Every plastic shopping bag I get gets reused as a garbage bag in the kitchen. If they stop providing bags at checkouts I will have to start buying garbage bags. I don't see a net reduction in bags as far as my usage is concerned; only a small increase - namely the extra bag the garbage bags came in in the first place, which doesn't have any use. If there is anything wrong with my logic; please speak up.

    Same here, but now I have seen the error of my ways.  Henceforth I will be using only canvas trash bags.

    If you refresh your memory and watch Apocalyspe Now again, you'll remember, Kurtz was "out there operating without any decent restraint, totally beyond the pale of any himanly acceptable conduct." "His ideas, and methods became, unsound. And he has very obviously gone insane".

    Kurtz also had an "army that worshiped him like a God, and followed every order, no matter how ridiculous".

    In the end, Kurtz's command needed to be terminated.

    It was a great movie, but only that.  It wasn't real. It was fiction.
