There's a vacant luxury suite waiting for one of you. Premchai Karnasuta, president of Italian-Thai Development Plc (ITD) and a suspect in the State Audit Office building collapse case, has been transferred from the Bangkok Remand Prison’s medical unit to the Correctional Hospital. The 71-year-old was moved for examination due to breathing problems. Reports say he has several underlying health conditions, and due to his age, he was admitted for treatment. Earlier today, another suspect, Pimon Charoenying, an 85-year-old structural engineer whose signature appears on the design plans, was also transferred to the Correctional Hospital due to health issues and his age. https://x.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1924751612788277360

Report Architectural Firm Denies Design Changes in Collapsed SAO HQ
anchadian replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
BREAKING: Arrest warrants have been issued on Thursday for Italian-Thai boss Premchai Kannasuta and 17 others, including engineers, supervisors, and the joint venture, involved in the State Audit Office building collapse case. The examination of documentary and witness evidence revealed that the construction plans did not comply with ministerial regulations and standards. The elevator shaft core of the building was not located in the center but was shifted to the rear edge, causing the building's center of torsion to deviate from its geometric center. When the building swayed due to the earthquake, the elevator shaft core and the base columns collapsed almost simultaneously, causing the entire building to fall vertically and rapidly. https://x.com/KhaosodEnglish/status/1922956233390293342 -

Report Supreme Court Trial Looms, but Thaksin May Walk Free Again
anchadian replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The Medical Council has proposed disciplinary actions against three doctors for providing false information about the treatment of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra during his detention at the Police General Hospital. Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, First Vice President of the Medical Council, said one doctor is proposed to receive a warning for not meeting medical standards, while two others are proposed to have their medical licenses suspended for giving inaccurate information. Prof. Dr. Prasit advised against drawing conclusions about whether Thaksin’s illnesses were genuine, stressing that the available evidence did not clearly support claims of a critical condition. The council will submit its proposal to the Minister of Public Health for further action. https://x.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1920411608276480230 -

Songkran Success: Tourist Surge Boosts Thai Economy
anchadian replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I know which article I believe: Thai economy thrown into disarray by Trump’s tariffs. Exports and Tourism may both be far lower in 2025 Trump’s tariffs create economic turmoil for Thailand, with exports and tourism set to drop sharply in 2025. As the baht strengthens, growth forecasts are slashed, and global tensions escalate. Negotiations with the US are critical for future stability. https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2025/04/19/thai-economy-thrown-into-disarray-by-trumps-tariffs-exports-and-tourism-may-both-be-far-lower-in-2025/
