  4. Thailand election 2026: The result the polls never saw co...Why did a youthful, progressive party do so poorly compared to a transactional, old-style party?
  5. Welcome Mr ex drug smuggler to the Bhumjaithai party. Unofficial results from Thailand’s 2026 general election showed the Bhumjaithai Party emerging as the largest party in parliament, positioning its leader Anutin Charnvirakul to become the country’s 33rd prime minister, as the party moves toward forming a coalition with Thammanat Prompao’s Kla Tham Party and prepares for possible deal-making with the Pheu Thai Party in the coming weeks. https://x.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/2020546951775981927
  6. FT report on Thailand from yesterday. Please remove it already posted. Thailand manages to dethrone ‘Philippines’ as the ‘Sick Man of Asia’. Financial Times calls Thailand the ‘Sick Man of Asia’ a title that was for decades associated with the Philippines. FT said that the instability of the govt., loss of competitiveness, low-capacity utilization, banks reluctance to lend amid fear of non-performing loans, declining population and highest household debt in Asia, have all led the country to being crowned the title. Politicians continue to campaign for the February 8 General Elections but with the ‘elites’ meddling with politics it is most likely that the same old same old will continue even after the results of the elections are announced. https://x.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/2018865964910252349
  7. And today, it's still rising. For those that purchased gold jewellery or bars several years ago, you must be sitting on a handsome profit as I am.
  8. What about salt and MSG? Not going to happen. We wouldn't want to upset Mr Mama
  9. Furthermore, Premchai has been out on bail since May with health issues after the collapse of the SAO building. At least he enjoyed the NY celebrations in the comfort of his home.
  10. UPDATE: Italian-Thai clarifies to stock exchange: Contracts for two crane-collapse projects not terminated despite public order from Prime Minister Anutin https://x.com/KhaosodEnglish/status/2012027032298000835
  11. BREAKING: The Department of Corrections on Thursday moves to grant parole to inmate Thaksin Shinawatra this coming May. https://x.com/KhaosodEnglish/status/2011685776397103607
  12. They never mention those fatalities and injured that were not wearing a helmet.
  13. What happened to that 'handsome' man Premchai Karnasuta, former president of Italian-Thai development'? He served a short time in prison, moved to the corrections hospital and then sent home to recover.
  14. Final update: Having appealed against the deactivation of my account on 12 Dec, I have this early morning received and email from SGP informing me that my account has now been reactivated due to a technical error. To help put this right they've added B3,000 to my account.
  15. I didn't see you post here. I responded on your other thread.
  16. Beginning of Dec, I also had exactly the same urgent deactivation notice informing me that you are allowed one account with Wise. I immediately appealed against this having 'another' account. The matter is still pending. I am in contact with Wise support team in Singapore by email although I did call them in the beginning. reply(at)support.wise.com What I'd advise you to do initially is to contact SGP and if they are unable to help then contact the Financial Ombudsman Services in your country. In the UK it's https://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/ You'd be very surprised as to how many appeals/complaints they get from Wise. Many. Hope this helps.
  17. Yes, this is getting ridiculous now. Today, US$ against the Thai baht is showing at 31.15 and the pound is 41.82
  18. Every New Year same same old report. We all take a break during the rest of the year.
  19. Update: I have been in contact with their support team in SGP and they now inform me that it looks like there's been a technical error on their part but this might take longer than usual to resolve. In the meanwhile, does anybody know another UK money transfer service that you can transfer your pensions to and then remit to Thailand, apart from Wise and Revolut (I believe you need cannot use your Thai address?).
  20. Just for info: I have been using Sproutcall who are based in Denmark for some while now. Local calls to Thailand are 4b a minute whereas call to the UK and US are 1b a minute. Excellent audio.
  21. Thanks for the replies but no, I didn't click on the email but the message is also displayed on their website when I log into my account as stated in my initial post. They're informing me that they will close my current account which I have been using for several years, although I can continue to use the 'other' account which I never opened. You would think that Wise would close this 'other' account, not my current one. As I stated, it has to be spam. I will keep you informed once I hear from Wise within the next 30 days.
  22. Has anybody else received a notice from Wise either by email or which is displayed on their main account? 'We're closing your account 11 March. You can only have one personal account with Wise. This means we'll have to close the account you use with this email'. I have already responded to Wise. They informed me that this will be reviewed within the next 30 days. This 'other' account to which they refer quoting an incomplete email address, I don't even recognise this email. Looks like spam to me.
  23. These reports do make me laugh: Thailand’s tourism crisis deepens as arrivals plunge 9.8% amid crime shocks, flooding, border clashes and a surging baht. Confidence is collapsing, Vietnam is racing ahead, and officials admit there is no hope of recovery with just days left in the year December 10, 2025 at 5:21 am https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2025/12/10/thailands-foreign-tourism-sector-in-crisis-as-visitor-decline-accelerates-9-8-fewer-arrivals-than-2025/
