  1. And why all the secrecy as to what surgical operation he had recently? We were never short of medical updates from the beginning.
  2. Pravit Rojanaphruk Utterly wrong. The court shouldn't have such power in a genuine democracy, to ban someone from seeking political office & from voting for life. What pol system are we in? We need to question & oppose such excessive judicial power. https://twitter.com/PravitR/status/1704429383371665816
  3. Lawaron Saengsanit, the Director of the Revenue Department, said a focus group hearing will be conducted to discuss the proposal to tax all income earned abroad by tax residents in Thailand. The focus group will include investors, taxpayers, and relevant agencies, who will provide explanations about the proposed change and listen to concerns regarding the measure. This change is expected to be implemented on January 1, 2024. Lawaron said this move aligns with international standards, and it is common for both domestic and international investors with similar income to be subject to similar taxation. Lawaron assured that there will be no double taxation due to the Double Tax Agreement. More details about the measures will be released prior to the commencement of the new tax policy. https://twitter.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1703719202769756629

  7. Senator Tawin Pleansri warned the new government that if they continue to allow blatant inequality in the so-called incarceration of former PM Thaksin Shinawatra, it could lead to more conflict in the future. "Do not keep trampling on the feelings of the entire country until they can no longer accept it because it could lead to a major problem," he said. He said the government's promise to uphold the rule of law would mean nothing if they still permit wealthy and influential individuals to undermine the justice system, such as the delays in the prosecution against former culture minister Itthiphol Khunpluem, the special privileges granted to inmate Thaksin, and the Red Bull heir case. He urged the government not to use the excuse that they are only following regulations because people can see through such claims. https://twitter.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1701504146686595224
  8. It's been a while since we last had an updated medical report, or is he just biding his time until he's released from 'prison'? The latter. As I thought.

  11. You might be moving to another country and at that time when you do post, how do we know that you are actually in another country? Never heard of you 'till now. Why don't you just spill the beans like any normal folk would. Why so secretive?
  12. Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's sentence could be further reduced, according to outgoing Justice Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam. Wissanu said Thaksin might receive another royal pardon on the birthday of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, which falls on December 5. Thaksin's sentence was previously reduced from 8 years to 1 year, and since his sentence is now 1 year, he would be eligible for another royal pardon on auspicious occasions, just like other inmates, Wissanu said. https://twitter.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1697954359525707918

  17. According to news reports from reporters at the justice ministry, inmate Thaksin Shinawatra could request parole after serving one-third of his sentence. Since his sentence was reduced from 8 years to 1 year, he could apply for parole in 4 months from now. So far, Thaksin has spent less than a day in a medical ward inside the Bangkok Remand Prison when he returned on August 22 before being transferred for treatment at the Police General Hospital on the night of his arrival. His time at the hospital is being counted as time served in jail. According to regulations, Thaksin could serve his time at a hospital for up to 120 days if granted permission by Corrections Department director-general Aryut Sinthoppan. Thaksin has been at the hospital for 10 days now, and if he desires to extend his stay beyond 120 days, he can seek permission from the justice minister. The anticipated new justice minister is Tawee Sodsong, who is also the new leader of the Prachachart Party, one of the parties in the Pheu Thai-led government. https://twitter.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1697558102919491809
  18. [Update] The reduction of inmate Thaksin's sentence was printed in the Royal Gazette dated August 31, confirming the new reports. This development came only one day after Caretaker Justice Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam announced that the former prime minister had filed the royal pardon. Initial reports said the entire process for requesting a royal pardon could take 1-2 months. https://twitter.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1697532850407715129
