it may be sufficient for the embassy to say this person showed a valid passport and this is his address.
How the embassy would know what is your address in Thailand? I asked the manager of Bangkok Bank near Soi 10 Sukumvit road, Bangkok, what exactly this letter would be. She said, it should be your US address tied to your passport (as US addresses are not in the Passport). I said I have a state Driver's license and in the US, Driver license is tied to an address. But she won't take it. So, I went to the embassy and told them to verify my US address using my state driver's license. As usual, US embassy does not verify anything. So, they told me to take an oath under penalty or perjury and state that the address written on a piece of paper (along with my name , date of birth, and Passport number) is my US address. That's it and I was able to open an account on a tourist visa without any online access. After I got my O-A visa, they gave me online access.

You will need a completed TM47 form (download TM47 Form Fillable.pdf).
I suppose this form is available in Jomtien immigration office. I don't have a printer to print it. And what is my Tambol for amhor Banglamung and province Chonburi (Jomtien)
And what is the arrival card no? Is it the same number printed at the bottom of Departure card with bar code?

My Thailand entry stamp is dated 21 Oct 2018 and Admitted Until 20 Oct 2019 (OA visa). When precisely my 90-day is due? The date window (7-day prior or 14-day prior) when I can submit a 90-day report online and in person? What documents I need except the passport and TM30? I am in Jomtien.

"(Australia) takes too long. That's why I went to Canada," she told Reuters in a direct message before boarding her flight to Toronto. Qunun took a Korean Air flight from Bangkok to Seoul on Friday and then a connecting flight to Toronto.

Here is the full list: Panama in first followed by Costa Rica, Mexico, Ecuador, Malaysia, Colombia, Portugal, Peru, Thailand and Spain in tenth.
It just tells me why people flock to Thailand. Malaysia is expensive and out of reach for most people retiring in Thailand. And so called neighboring countries like Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and Philippines are not worthy of living. So what ever immigration says, just stay here and remit more money from abroad and make baht stronger.

of course, if you are US file an online FBAR every year until you do close it... but the FBAR is very easy to do... and there is no reason not to do it. it won't trigger a thing. you probably already know if you need to...but just in case I mention it. x-IRS.
Can you please post the link to FBAR website. Thanks. I have to file this year I guess as I had weekly remittances of 500 USD in 2018 and still continuing in 2019.

I am presently doing a Non-Imm O-A through the Thai embassy in Washington D.C.
LA embassy takes IRA or 401(K) investment also as proof of 800K in the bank for O-A. They also take Social Security and Military pension or Company Pension letter. But, I guess, they won't take rental, dividend/interest income etc. as income. Embassy income letter was all about monthly income, irrespective of source.

Thailand wants the amount which is 'verified / guaranteed' to be in Baht and as we can all see the Baht has not been stable against anything.
To me it appears baht is very stable and strengthening as normally expected due to huge influx of foreign direct investment in infrastructure and also expat remittances. At this rate one analyst predicted baht will be $23/baht by 2023 when I start receiving my SS. Bye bye Thailand. We had a good run not time to seek different lands.

Any one know of a agent that deals with Changwatana? I have all my paperwork and financial docs. They would only need to pay the extortion fee to the officer since I'm being asked for documents that will not be given to me.
Just politely tell the IO that your owner is not willing to give his house book and if he knows anybody who can help you. The IO will direct you to the right agent or he may quote a price right there.

The fees won't kill you but the exchange rates can. As I said a few weeks back in another thread that I transferred more than 800K with AUD when it was about 26 baht, it would costs me thousands more in aussies today. Hedging to protect.
I like this hedging approach. May be I should start looking into it. Thai baht is getting stronger due to massive public and private investments from outside and more people's desires to move here for retirement. I was reading currency prediction for 2023 when I will be able to draw my SS, and they are predicting 25 baht/USD.

Whatever you call it, please drop the word 'farang'....
Agreed. When you use the word farang with human rights, it sounds like you're advocating human right for caucasian people. And at the same time human rights watch groups are fighting to prevent deportation of a Saudi teen to her death nails in Saudi Arabia or scores of Pakistani Christians locked up in IDC in inhumane conditions because they fled prosecution and murder in their home country.

@007 RED has already posted that he was in touch with Bangkok Bank and they are getting a template ready and approved by immigration before they circulate it to their branches.

I leave in and about April. Since my Extension expires Jan 20, 2020, I arrive in October, 2019 and just leave to get an SETV in January. Perfect for me. No need to toss 65K in a Thai bank. No need to put 800K in a bank for a few months. Simplify life.
Same as me but I have an O-A visa good for to stay till march 2020 (after I make an in/out in March 2019). Ha ha. I will cross the bridge when time comes in March, 2020. There are multiple options. I want to be able to keep my option open to come in/out anytime be able to stay more than 90-day if I wish. But I am not complaining. I think this is the best TI could have come up with in the circumstances when only four embassies wanted to screw their citizens. Kudos to TI.

Why? It is unfair if I have to prove an additional 800000 THB in addition to the proven foreign banks, while other applicants only have to prove the monthly income. All my Euro deposits come from a foreign bank. But not every month but throughout the year. So it could happen that in the 3 month period before the extension of stay application my total balance at the Thai Bank is under 800000 but still every month 65000 goes into my Thai account.
As I said, if two accounts are in the same bank, the bank will be willing to certify all deposits of 65K are foreign sourced. I think you should go and talk to your bank instead of arguing with posters for your unique situation.

Say you had an income of 30,000 baht a month, not enough to comply but enough to live on, plus 35,000 in savings. Month 1 send the 35k savings to your UK bank. Then send the 65k to Thailand as your "income". Month 2 send the 35k savings to your UK bank...... etc, etc. You have additional fees to pay but using Dee Money not much. Better than an "illegal" agent's fee.
Wow. Somebody after winning a genetic lottery has ended up their life with only 1K USD/month and 1KUSD savings. And we are quibbling over "illegal" agent fees.

Since those very same expats have been using the agency route for years there will be a zero effect on their departure or expenditure or stress.
No, earlier they could do it cheaply ($50) by enriching their own country's coffers. Now they have to pay more.

The rest of it I just leave in my bank in the states. That's not so bad this is actually good news for a lot of us.
It is good news for people who are making 150K (or 5K USD) every month in retirement.

I have a Euro account and a Baht account with my Thai bank. If I transfer every month from the Euro account 65000 THB to the Baht account, I believe that the 800000 THB regulation would be obsolete. Because all euro deposits come from a foreign account. Or do I think wrong?
I think this will work. But it does not make 800K regulation obsolete. I think it may be a better approach than keeping the money for seasoning.

There will be many expats that will have to leave the Kingdom because they won’t have the funds to stay. The party’s over, I guess, for those lying about their income for years. Good luck to them as they travel to their home country and try to make a living for themselves. I don’t say this sarcastically, as I do feel for those who are going through a lot of stress now, even if it is because of their own decisions.
They can always hire an agent and be poorer by 2K per month. May be they have to stop going to bars for few days to enrich the bar owners.

Where r u getting this 100K every month? Out of thin air?
30 minutes ago, dickjones2018 said:than re-send the money back to your home country, for the next month
Send 100K back. How r u living in Thailand? Working in somebody's somtam factory?
32 minutes ago, dickjones2018 said:(1000 baht at least to go out + 1000 baht to go in again)
2K every month or 24K/year. Same as agent fee. Just give the money to an agent and he will take care and you can still work in a somtam factory.

I only have 35,000 per month from my pension but have over 65,000 baht per month from personal investments each month that can not be sent to Bangkok Bank each month. Thank you
For umpteenth time, money in the bank (400K/800K) and seasoning rule has not changed. It remained the same. Please people don't ask the same question thousand times to clutter up the forum.

Money in the bank is not dead money. Banks can loan to Thais and they will happily spend buying cars, appliances, or in Terminal 21. Everybody happy.

I really wonder how some people manage to live !
Using embassy letters. I used to dismiss "change is difficult" notion because life is full of changes for survival. It is ingrained in our genes from the time of hunter gatherers. Reading TVF, it convinced me that for some people "change is unacceptable" and "unable to comprehend", hence it must be difficult.

Yes. Immigration does not care where your money is coming from. From lottery win to your savings. It covers every thing.
They can show Thai tax returns. It is only a concern for people who were Thai tax cheaters earlier and getting away with an income letter.
