Mike Pence challenges rivals to back 15-week abortion ban
Chomper Higgot replied to Social Media's topic in World News
GOP policies on abortion weld in votes tgey slready have amongst rightwing religious extremists, but drives voted to Democrats amongst moderate swing voters. So do please keep talking about restricting the rights of half the nation to hold dominion over their own bodies, you know it makes sense. -
McCarthy backs effort to expunge Trump impeachments
Chomper Higgot replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Perhaps the GOP wish to expunge the fact that they twice had the opportunity to hold Trump to account but turned it down. Lay with a dog, get up with flees. -
Perhaps it’s because racism is alive and well in the UK, not something that ‘has been dealt with’. Though I suspect on this forum the ability of members to observe and remember each others posting history might play a role in determining the views of those making posts on matters in which racism maybe present. Threads discussing immigrants, asylum seekers, ethic and religious groups are examples, posters who have comments removed that are overtly racist are a clue.

No need for an apology but much appreciates anyway. The reason the company were allowed to dodge certifications is because they are not compulsory. The CEO’s attitude to standards, safety and regulation is a matter of public and court record. Having himself died in the sub he won’t be putting anyone else at risk with his recklessness. RIP his victims.

There are well established regulations and standards covering materials fabrication and testing of pressure vessels, and equipment subjected to pressure. Refer court case I linked earlier in the thread. There are standards governing the design, selection, manufacturing and testing of control systems in critical safety service. The comments made by the now deceased CEO regarding regulations, standards and safety are a matter of record, including court records.

The increase in mortgage repayments as millions of fixed rate mortgage contracts come to an end has for some time been referred as a ‘ticking time bomb’, well the ticking just got louder. Additionally, the number of households holding mortgages has dropped from over 40% to under 30%, due to older people owning outright and younger people being excluded from buying by high costs. This has the effect of placing the burden of the Government’s policy to reduce spending power on a significantly smaller number of people than past interest rises. Therefore to achieve the same restriction in money within the economy interest rates have to go higher than otherwise would needed. As the months tick by, more fixed term mortgages come to an end, 800,000 by the end of 2023, over two million by the end of 2024 Not good news in the run up to bye elections and of course the general election. And all the while the driving cause of inflation is supply side restrictions within the economy, which will not be fixed by increasing inflation unless doing so creates a recession, although Jeremy Hunt has said he’s content to take the risk. I doubt many mortgage holders will agree, we’ll soon find out. https://www.resolutionfoundation.org/publications/the-mortgage-crunch/ https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/inflationandpriceindices/articles/priceseconomicanalysisquarterly/march2022

Allegations of safety concerns are not simply after the fact speculation or rumor, they exist in court filings from 2018. David Lochridge, OceanGate’s former director of marine operations, claimed in the August 2018 court document he was wrongfully fired after flagging worries about the company’s alleged “refusal to conduct critical, non-destructive testing of the experimental design”. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/oceangate-titan-safety-quality-employee-fired-b2361289.html

You’ll need to come up with evidence that Starmer broke a law, any law. Durham Police found nothing. Perhaps the Tories could take a break from destroying the economy and engage in a bit of ‘ex post facto‘ law making in order to help you and other out of the conspiracy hole you’ve dug for yourselves. Perhaps you could take a break from conspiracy laced whataboutary. Let’s stick to the facts, the law and the topic of discussion.

It turns out that the CEO of the Submarine Company is no fan of regulations, standards, testing and inspection. I suspect he’s having second thoughts, that is, if he’s still amongst the living. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/jun/21/titanic-submersible-documents-reveal-multiple-concerns-raised-over-safety-of-vessel

Well you’ve certainly got me laughing Johnny. Imagine, for example, if a private citizen were charged under the espionage statute, found to be in possession of secret documentation relating to the nation’s nuclear weapons, they get indicted but not immediately locked up pending trial. That Johnny, would be real lenience.
