  1. Perhaps there aren’t enough police around (what happened to them I wonder). In the three months I was in the UK I only saw the police twice, once on the motorway, once in the queue at an ATM.
  2. I was in the UK this summer, it was still wonderful. The biggest problem, head and shoulders above everything else, is the cost of living crisis, which (for the time being) is just about beating the collapse of NHS services in the list of public concerns. Which is perhaps why the rightwing press are ranting again about immigrants. It would be unbearable if the promised ‘bright and sunny uplands’ hadn’t shown up.
  3. Because the evidence needs to be placed before a Grand Jury first, they then need to hand down an indictment. Also, we know that Trump is also under numerous criminal investigations, J6, Vote rigging in Georgia etc, it is very likely that the DOJ will make a single arrest on multiple counts. And finally, the extreme rightwing are making thinly veiled threats (some not so thinly veiled) of violence if Trump is arrested. I don’t think for a moment that those threats will deter the DOJ, but I do expect the DOJ will absolutely double and treble check that all their ‘t’s’ are crossed and all their ‘I’s’ are dotted. Be patient, Justice is coming.
  4. Billy Barr, remember him, he’s poured scorn on Trump’s suggestion that he declassified these documents. It’s just another lie for his doting followers. All that aside, the search warrant didn’t mention ‘classified documents’, it was a search for ‘Government Records’. The discovery of ‘TS/SCI documents’ raises the criminal stakes, the discovery of ‘TS/SCI Folders with their contents missing’ raises the criminal stakes much higher. Trump’s actions have taken this into the realms of grave threats to US National Security. Lock him up!
  5. Somebody needs to tell Trump to stop talking. But he won’t, he needs to feed his own delusions and the delusions of his followers. In doing so he provides the DOJ with public record statements that they will use against him. And if any of his deluded followers commit crimes out of the rage he is fermenting in their heads, they’ll be on their own, Trump isn’t going to ‘walk down to the Capitol’ with anyone. Get your head around that.
  6. You are obviously not paying attention. Trump has stated that the documents found were his property, he’s stated he declassified them. His lawyers stated, in contradiction to fact, that all documents had been returned. Follow the pack of ever changing lies coming out of Trump since this lawfully authorized, lawfully executed search took place. Each fact that is revealed paints and even worse picture than the facts we already have in front of us, and many of those facts are provided by Trump himself. He’s on indictment watch.
  7. He’s already delivering jobs, cheaper prescriptions, fixing infrastructure, rebuilding America. And his DOJ is cornering a traitor.
  8. Truss has stated it’s fair to help high earners more with tax cuts. At a time when millions are skipping meals and choosing between eating and heating,
  9. Or do it was claimed. Kids have a low Borden threshold, I doubt very much they make a habit of badgering old ladies, if it even happened.
  10. It ended his political career. Then he took up writing books, that few bought and fewer bothered reading.
  11. That wasn’t a non sequitur. Take your mistake as a learning opportunity.
  12. Not the first educated man to twist his education in to the service of promoting hatred. Nor sadly the last.
  13. Does that somehow cancel out his use of racism in an attempt to further his own political ambitions. As I said early on in this thread, Powell parked his intellect, his education and his military experience when he took to racism to further his own political ambitions. His racism is all the worse coming from a man who had the intellectual gifts and experience to know exactly what fire he was playing with.
  14. He was a racist. If the majority agreed with him, how come his racist remarks ended his career?
  15. He is the subject of the criminal investigation that this tread is discussing. Or did you miss that?
  16. I’m a member here too, so I too can comment. It is a thing though isn’t it, Powell’s fan boys attacking other members on the basis of their nationality.
  17. Irrelevant. He’s a member of this forum and therefore entitled to comment. Are you running out of arguments?
  18. Correct me if I’m wrong Transam, but isn’t it the case that all topics are open to all members regardless of any other consideration other than that they are members? If that is the case then any member’s residence in the UK, let alone their nationality is completely irrelevant and, you’ll like this, off topic.
  19. What’s this, Asian shop keepers committing crimes. I’d like to know where they get the time for it, they are open all hours, working all hours.
  20. Is domestic water supply in India on topic now?
  21. It was the legal basis by which people Powell was making his racist remarks about had the right to come to the UK. Odd that he gave it a swerve.
  22. How does that relate to calling a racist a racist?
  23. Why then did he fail to mention the Nationality Act of 1948?
  24. It’s Trump who is trying to delay Justice with his nonsense request to appoint a ‘Special Master’ So yes, in a sense you are correct , there is an attempt to prevent Justice..
