  1. Perhaps should stick to the topic of discussion, which is not ‘what you think I might have a thing about’.
  2. Try this up to date link to an analysis by the ‘Resolution foundation’ on who benefits from the mini budget after the u-turn in the 45% tax rate: https://uk.news.yahoo.com/chart-mini-budget-rich-45p-tax-rate-u-turn-145231498.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvLnRoLw&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAHMveXhzJOG167GZpt8QzP-CvhpHaS9seESCgfj0WYO6rHoKxkIK-Efx4rYaHFJql551aaoHMnRGAkYfzg4gQXu6PmoZKGbg5tHRzgepmVmotCQbKmhNtuGYkHJqjwQ5zHvoviDkfezcn0bx553uJsouAZ3GCWoM1RQY9BhspNa3
  3. The Budget hasn’t yet been voted on. She is already being judged on the results of announcing this budget. Voters are already receiving notice of interest rate rises. There is worse to come.
  4. The authority of the newly minted PM has been undermined. Spin it anyway you want, that is significant.
  5. The U-turn was an embarrassing defeat for the PM. Gone is her claim to competence and effectiveness. The lady is for turning. As you mentioned earlier, this thread isn’t about Trump, it’s not about Labour either.
  6. So why the chief whip threatening Tory backbenchers? Why was the PM sticking to the cut right up to hours before it was removed?
  7. I don’t dispute she’s an idiot, but she does at least understand when she’s onto a loser. The press are a vital part of democracy, and here we see precisely how they can help hold Government to account.
  8. I’m quite sure opinion polls had an impact on the decision by Tory backbenchers to oppose the Budget and thereby force the PM into a U-turn.
  9. Opinion polls suggest the public do not agree with you.
  10. Also of note, and it is no small matter. In the run up to this U-Turn the Tory Party Chair Jake Berry threatened backbenchers that if they don’t support the PM on the Budget, they’d have the ‘whip removed’. The PM then U-turned. So threatening Tory MPs to support the newly minted PM isn’t working. How long before the whole mess collapses?
  11. I never said the tax cuts ‘favour only the wealthy’. This is the second time I have corrected your misrepresentation of my statements on this matter. Both I and placeholder have provided you a link which confirms the wealthy benefit hugely more than do those on modest and low incomes, facts that were widely reported in the press.
  12. She’s just done a U-turn in a matter of days. What she says has absolutely no credibility.
  13. How is possible to open your mouth and cause the BoE to have to spend £65Billion to prop up Sterling as a direct result of the idiocy that came out of your mounth… and still keep your job?
  14. Quit with the Strawman. When I say ‘favours the already wealthy’ or ‘massively favours the already wealthy’ I do not say ‘but nobody else’, Stop putting words in my mouth.
  15. Let me give you an example. NI ( a tax) cancelling the planned rise massively favours a the already wealthy.
  16. It was a U-Turn. And she’ll do it again the next time she comes up with a half baked idiot idea.
  17. Remember when it was said of a truss (by her supporters) that she is competent and gets things done.
  18. Each of the tax cuts in the ‘proposed budget’ massively favorites the wealthy. As wide reported at the time. https://fullfact.org/economy/kwasi-kwarteng-mini-budget/
  19. Erm no, it’s only a small fraction of the money being borrowed that being handed out in tax cuts for the already wealthy.
  20. Exactly that. Time for Truss to publish the economic plan she claims she’s working to.
  21. They are repaying a loan early, they are propping up the currency by buying Guilts. They pumped out £65Billion to reduce the damage done by the idiot budget, this will increase inflation.
  22. No they have not, they’ve scrapped the 45-> 40% tax cut to high earners. High earners are still to receive £Billions of tax cuts paid for with borrowed money.
  23. Yes, the BoE’s own Guilts. AKA quantitative easing. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantitative_easing
  24. It’ll be pushed up the back of people’s minds as the recession hits. And of course next up, more Tory cuts to welfare and public services.
  25. She was forced into a U-Turn by members of her own party who were threatening to vote her budget down.
