About freakin' time these idiots get a dose of reality. With cameras almost everywhere now + social media, the BIB can't keep letting it slide without losing their face/job. Thais (particularly young males) need to know that they can't just throw caution to the wind and drive crazy-mao putting human lives at risk without consequence. And of course not just Songkran but year-round. 1-2 beers is one thing, but a lot of these guys are on a whiskey Red Bull yaba and who knows what else me-first road rage.

About time to start setting an example, by publicly prosecuting these murderers and treating loss of human life seriously, rather than taking a bribe and setting them free same day. Yeah I know blah blah blah, but social media now makes this stuff go viral so readily they can't keep denying some kind of actual justice without losing more face.

And meanwhile the current TMD forecast for Chiang Mai is...

"Loud and annoying music on vehicles"
That would apply to thousands of offending vehicles nationwide year-round. For many Thais, the level of fun and personal awesomeness equates to the sheer volume of boom-boom loud as <deleted> music. Then there are the trucks loaded down with giant speakers shouting adverts. Stopping it during Songkran? 55555 ????

The lawyers are dreaming of a day when Thailand becomes as sue-happy and litigious as the US of A where you must follow all rules all the time.
Many visitors come here because it ISN'T like that (yet).

Get ready for Mr. Dick Tater's government to declare themselves "democratically elected"

<deleted>. Headline contrived to attract more Songkran tourists and let Mr. Dick Tater pat himself on the back, mission accomplished, etc. This was no accident.

Kind of lost me at the end:
"It’s time for the Thai military to do its duty and act with professionalism, respecting the principle of civilian supremacy. This is what the military in a modern state is supposed to do."
This "election" proves once again LOS is not yet "modern", while Prayut and his fellow dinosaurs have spent the past 5 years ensuring it stays that way. Keep them dumb, keep them scared, keep them obedient. Animal Farm anyone?

Mr Dick Tater, a.k.a Unclue Tu, now a.k.a. Mr. Chuck Wao encourages us to follow our dreams by masturbating

Abhisit is too "Good" for Thailand. Ban-noks and corrupt cronies don't like someone who is well-educated abroad, speaks impeccable English, and believes in basic human rights and freedom. If Mr. Dick Tater gets back to PM status it is just another referendum showing how totally not-ready LOS is for "democracy".

Misleading "journalism" as usual. It is NOT a Chiang Mai-specific issue, but all over the north/interior of Burma, Thailand, Laos, China, Cambodia, etc. Anywhere which is agriculturally intensive and tolerates/allows/ignores seasonal agricultural burn-off which coincides with hot dry stagnant season is subject to this roughly 2-month period of shitty air. Good that it gets increasing publicity/awareness every year due to social media with everyone having a "camera" of some sort, but until politicians, cops, army, etc find a reason (yeah we know, ha ha) to strictly enforce burn bans while encouraging alternative eco-friendly ways of clearing land it will continue to suck every year while they spray (waste) huge amounts of water for the cameras. Delhi, Lahore, etc. have their own reasons - heavy industry and traffic, not quite as applicable to Chiang Mai where the air can be even worse outside the city in the rice fields and hills. And no there is not a "safe" level of PM2.5/10 as any of it is harmful.

It's "election" time so every Minister of BS has to re-justify their job. Right or wrong, promise of wind and rain when the air is shitty, same same every year.

4-5 years ago this guy was popular with millions as the Yingluck circus with Thaksin pulling the strings got more and more ridiculous and dangerous. But my oh my how the tables have turned since then. The so-called interim government has become power-mad and broken every big promise to bring the country forward, pursue reforms and return Thailand back to the people. Now Prayut and any of his other suck-ups are playing a shameful bullshit game, just as bad if not worse than Thaksin ever was. "Election" delayed again and again and again for made-up excuses, repeat flipflops on Mr. Dick Tater's intentions, political or otherwise. Clampdown on freedom of speech and forbidden campaigning while he does so freely with taxpayers money touring the country promoting his idea of "Thainess" which just perpetuates the whole cycle of corruption lying cheating that gets passed on to the next generation as an example of "how to win". Rather than forward he has dragged the country wayyyy back into the gutter. He and his cronies like Suthep who promised to return happiness to Thailand. Bullshit.

Amazing that a dozen armed police could not capture and restrain this guy, he seemed to be hyper-crazy maybe tripping on ya-ba. But to their credit they showed a lot of restraint as he was trying to smash open the window. In the USA this guy would have been shot dead by then, or at least tasered and thrown down hard. Actually maybe he was "thrown" we don't know cos they skipped that part ????

Oh come on Mr. Junta you've already been "campaigning" for months, and are clearly above the law. Take the stage and see what happens! ????

"They are foreigners - I have to attack them."
Sounds like one of General Dick Tater's patriotic "Thainess" speeches.

Not just the heat (currently 41c/105f where I am and some parts of Lampang province showing 44+ insane heat) but the almost complete lack of any rain the past 2 months. Most years we get at least a couple decent rains by now, but this year nada nill nothing yet. Set my aircon to 18c and it just said "F You" ????
