May be in the US of A but not in the UK or in Tingtong land as the video explains. Different countries different methods and materials.

Well, I am currently in Isaan and here all i see are kids doing the splashing and everyone tells me the same thing
How many posters have told you you are wrong, 3-4? And stop exaggerating that 'everyone tells you'. Thais have a reputation for not being honest with the truth.

In this non-touristic area it's already mayhem. Started yesterday evening in places and they are splashing everyone, adults, kids, cars and motor scooters.
Went out cycling this morning at 7 am thinking I'd avoid the water throwing. To good to hope for and got done twice but all's good as it was quite refreshing which is one of the reasons why people do it.

whereas in the touristic areas it is adults having a water fight, a completely different scene.
If you think about it, in the tourist areas adults will be the majority over children. Other than looking that it's an adult thing in Pattaya and the likes, it is actually no different to a NE village Songkran. Yes Thais do get together as friends and family but that is something not possible for tourists. Hence the difference.
Nothing to do with being changed by them damn foreigners.

Bit of advice to Durian lovers such as myself. It is illegal in Thailand to sell unripe Durian. Keep yer receipt. ????
QuoteThose who are found selling unripe durians may be charged under the country’s trademark laws and face a hefty three-year jail term as well as a fine of up to THB60,000 (US$1,900).

My wife tells me that is how it used to be in the villages ... and she tells me it was ruined by Westerners.
It just evolved naturally over the years.
QuoteSongkran was originally a time to visit family and pay respects to elders, and to clean away the old year and bring in a fresh one. Many Thais washed away the old year by literally washing their homes and any Buddhas or Buddha images around the house. They would collect the water that ran over the Buddhas and pour it onto the shoulders of family for good luck. This tradition evolved to include throwing water on random strangers to help relieve the intense April heat.
Eventually the original purpose of the holiday became secondary to the national water fight that is so loved by Thais and foreigners today. People grab whatever they can get their hands on buckets, water balloons, water guns, a hose and douse each other with water. Sometimes chalk or menthol (the latter causes a cooling sensation) is mixed into the water to create a paste which people smear on each others faces for good fortune.

Im so glad i dont make a tit of myself like that.
Oh but you have made a tit of yourself because it is still illegal to ride in the back of a pick-up. Your link verifies that fact. It's only during Songkran that the law is relaxed. Relaxed not changed. And although it is relaxed the occupants have to be seen as being safe. Whatever that entails. Other than the relaxing of the law during Songkran it remains law that traveling on the back of a pick-up is illegal.
QuoteHe said passengers will be allowed to sit in the beds of pickup trucks as long as they are deemed safe during the Songkran festival on April 13-16 for the convenience of motorists.

according the police government spokesman, you are allowed to carry 6 people in the back.
You can post a link to that statement??? Nah I didn't think so. (In advance)
Eat this.
QuotePeople are not allowed to ride on the back ofpickup trucks: Land Transport Dpt. ... But for pickuptrucks which were registered after 1994, riding on the cab is not permitted and violators will face fine because pickup trucks were not registered as passenger cars, but cargo carriers.

Irrespective. It is illegal to sit on the back of a pick up. Up to those idle B's if they don't wanna enforce it.

Correct, the boss does the calculations.
They do not work to the sq m. They work on day rates. Obviously depending where one lives. Where I live it's day rate.

endering they would charge a linear m rate for columns and plinths of less than 300mm (met wang) and large areas as m2 (talang) to arrive at their price.
You're havin a laaaarrrrffff mate.
QuoteIf you are lucky enough to get someone just pricing all in m2 rate on a wall then thats their lookout
The OP is not talking 'all in'. It's rendering only. Doh.,

Pricing a job by sq m is beyond most Thai manual workers. Better to look on how many days it should take times by their daily rate.

The insurance company are saying nothing and paying nothing despite the fact I understood that all vehicles had to have compulsory insurance and victims can claim against this insurance immediately at the hospital.
The compulsory insurance you refer to is the Por Ror Bor insurance. It is compulsory for all road vehicles. It covers 3rd parties as government hospitals will not treat road accidents for free. Failure to have this insurance is a criminal offence. If the police are involved then they will decide who was/is at fault and will levy a compensation payment and fines as they see fit.
PS The Por Ror Bor insurance is limited as to the amount of treatment received. Hence why the police will decide the compensation claim figure.

Also do not leave a baby's milk bottle in its mouth whilst lying down. The milk leaks into the ear canal and causes ear infections. My daughter suffered these infections up until she was 8 because we never knew.
QuoteThere is good evidence that if baby is given a bottle of formula while lying flat, the formula can get into the Eustachian tubes and middle ear and cause an infection.

and were happy to have spent 10 /15 thousand baht in doing so. Wasn't expecting to hear about how bad it is to have to waste an hour of my time once every 10 years.
The agents fee is 5,000 not 10/15,000. 5,000 Baht is a good price to pay for not having to do a 12 hour, round trip, to Bangkok if you don't like bus rides. But being a skinflint I could pay Somchai 4-500 Baht to go for me, including bus fare 8-900 Baht altogether. Same again 2 weeks later to collect my passport. Total saved 3,200 Baht. Way to go.

Never see it in Tesco. See it in Macro.
There is a Thai version of Worcester Sauce available in Tesco. Slightly different to the original but I like it.
