The recommendation from the government is advisory.
Since when are banks and supermarkets crowed places?
When I go to Big C xtra, 10% of the checkout counters are open, and no queues. You think they are crowded?
Their premises, their rules.

Indonesia has already decided to move its capital from Jakarta for this very reason. Saigon (HCMC), Manila and further afield, Shanghai, Tokyo, Taipei and Dhaka face similar fates in a foreseeable future. See the UN report 'Sinking Cities, Rising Seas' for more details.

No more or less so than the USA's universal wish of "Have a nice day". Both are simple gestures of courtesy, and courtesy is one of the lubricants of society.

Says who? just a few muslim terrorists. OK have a referendum in Thailand over keeping them or giving them up.
Have a referendum but only in the three provinces. (Clear parallels with the Northern Ireland situation?)

Yes but it was Britain which gave away the three southern provinces (Treaty of Bangkok, 1909) to Thailand. in fact Britain is pretty good at giving away other peoples territorities and the consequences are still being felt in for example, Palestine, (The Balfour delcaration 1917).

According to the report 60 people suffered from 'acute side effects' of cannabis. But over the same period how many suffered from the acute side effects of alcohol - including shootings, road accidents etc?

Girls want guys with resources.
That's nature.
The beauty of Thailand is that men and women still accept these facts and don't pretend otherwise.
Many men in farang-land are so brainwashed from all that feminists <deleted> that after a while they actually believe they prefer old women. 555
What a sensible, non-judgemental comment. Many older farang, often bruised by divorce or widowhood, are simply looking for a companion to to look after them in their old age and this does not exclude the development of genuine affection. Both sides accept the financial obligation to care for the wife after he is gone.

Tragic - r.i.p. the young lady and peace to her family. But it shows the necessity of updating the local building standards and introduce higher balconies for the new generation of taller Thais.

Thai gold shops buy for a better rate than in the west, but still only a fraction below the spot price.
However, many are backwards and regimental about their rules so they’ll only pay the ‘Thai price’, which is for the country’s inferior 96% purity gold.
Chinatown is the best place, but don’t hand it over unless they meet the price you want.
Actually four years back I got a fair price for some gold jewellery in a market gold shop in Chiang Mai - one piece of which wasn't even hall marked. (Fair price because I got a reliable jeweller to value the pieces for me first)

really I couldnt care less about THEM, they know what the ultimate price is, so up to them, the only enforcement should be kids.
Any adult injury if found not wearing a seat belt= no free medical care form the state.....or their insurance, let em die
Actually that's a pretty good idea - insurance invalidated by non-wearing of seatbelt (just as life insurance is invalidated by suicide)

It's an absolute disgrace that Thailand are indirectly legitimising the existence of an independent Taiwanese state by providing scheduled air services there ! A disgrace I tell you.
Please China, don't accept this kind of public and international disrespect for your intentions to re-annex land that is rightfully yours and urgently put in place some broad economic sanctions and/or ban sale of military hardware to Thailand. If you want to flex your military muscles more openly, some live-fire naval exercises in the gulf of Thailand should do the trick to get the message through. The Thais are currently defenceless whilst they are still waiting for their submarines.
"land that's rightfully yours" - cart before the horse here; it was Chiang kai-chek who was pushed out of mainland China by the Communists, so in principle China belongs to Taiwan, not the other way round. Anyway sadly that puts paid to the holiday I was planning in Taipei unless the People's Republic gets over its silly tantrum quickly.

One slight hope on the horizon is that in July of next year the 15-year rule disenfranchising UK citizens from voting will be repealed. Perhaps the prospect of up to 500,000 overseas frozen pensioners voting against them might persuade the government to correct this injustice.

They'll stumble their way along in the dark and eventually the pieces will fall into place, it seems to work for them in most things! No need to think too mut!
Well it certainly worked with the management of Covid with far lower numbers of deaths than most of the countries in the Western world and an effective, cheap app, Morprom, which actually works.

Yes, some nine million Thais registered as (potential, not claiming all of these have a solid business plan) growers via the PlookGanja app/web site.
I feel (right now) like personal use may survive, but with quite a few restrictions. Of course if someone goes on a murderous rampage and they are said to have been high on Cannabis then we can kiss that goodbye.
The CCA simply empowers the formation of other control mechanisms, from a few dozen government agnecies. At least that's what a version of the first draft I read said. It is then up to those agencies, boards to issue regulations on anything from seed to sale and beyond.
Not forgetting of course taxation. But one major advantage has been to reduce the prison population.

Yes the tax cuts will be financed by selling off even more of the National Health Service, Channel 4 and reducing Council grants even further.

This is what happens when you elect a sociopath. They have no conscience or guilt, and only care about one person….themselves.
They will lie about anything to anybody.
My brother was a sociopath, and he was recruited by MI5. Why? Because he would do anything they wanted, including killing people.
And that type of person lead the USA. We are lucky he didn’t get us into a war. Putin is another sociopath….doesn’t care about anybody, and that is why he was a perfect KGB operative. And he has got them into a war. Also why he threatens the West if they physically interfere in his war. He would have no problem going nuclear, only his military could stop him.
Boris Johnson in Britain too - even to the point of being a KGB operative.

Doesn't seem much of a debate to me. The Thais wisely don't want to catch the new super infectious Covid/omicron mutations and they all seem to be wearing masks - at least up here in Chiang Mai.
