Been in there a few times in my youth, Shipley is a bit of a rough hole, particularly the Sun Hotel and The Sir Norman Rae ( Wetherspoon) opposite .

I lived in Baildon and would only venture into Shipley after the pubs shut at 10.30 to go to the nightclubs ( Jolly’s and Elmer ) so we could drink until 2, then off for a curry and a taxi home .

i remember elmers did not go often....mecca on maningham lane was where i went looking for a flousie. been in the sun hotel a few times.......

Yup, my brother was a policeman in Shipley at the time and was told to stop cars at will , look for any weapons ( hammer, screwdriver or knives ) and later on to check if the suspect had a gap in his teeth.

Ironically , the photofit pictures from his surviving victims were not given much credibility !!

What with PS being interviewed 9 times, the uncanny likeness of the photofit pictures and the £5 note narrowing down the field drastically it seems like a lesson in how NOT to capture a serial killer.

The police seemed to think that a surviving victims idea of what car she was in was more reliable than a description of the attackers face !!

Watching some of the documentary’s , blame was pointed at the “ higher brass “ for the failures in the investigation yet there was a lot of back patting amongst them when he was finally caught although his capture was ultimately down to luck and a couple of alert Bobby’s . One of whom was disappointed that he didn’t get the “ promised “ promotion for whoever caught the Yorkshire Ripper !!

it was shipley where i got stopped......outside pub called old house at home......!!

Indeed, some of the YR’s victims were prostitutes but the majority were ladies alone late at night and returning from work or a night out.

Unfortunately his early murder victims were prostitutes leading the media to label him The Yorkshire Ripper, an obvious connection to Jack the Ripper but also helped to sell  newspapers, and ignoring the fact that his first 3 victims ( survived ) were a retail worker, an office cleaner and a 14 year old schoolgirl, all 3 had no connection with prostitution.

During the early few killings ,due to the media coverage , it was generally felt that only prostitutes were at risk and most of the general public felt safe and maybe added to the count as several of his next victims were ladies looking at returning home after a night out and accepting a lift from a stranger ... Sutcliffe !!

I GOT STOPPED by the Police in the early hours,.......i was on my way home from the casino......looked in boot of car....i asked why copper said "looking for a hammer" i said NO have......only have spare wheel and brace/jack in boot.....he said NEED TO CHECK!!!!

LONDON (Reuters) - British serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, known as the Yorkshire Ripper for a five-year killing spree during which he stabbed and bludgeoned at least 13 women to death, has died after catching COVID-19.

Sutcliffe's murders - which left women mutilated across northern England - triggered widespread fear in northern cities and the police were criticised for taking so long to track him down.

Sutcliffe was arrested in 1981 and pleaded guilty to 13 charges of murder and 7 charges of attempted murder. He spent the rest of his days in prison. He died on Friday in the early hours after refusing coronavirus treatment. He was 74.

Between 1975 and 1980, Sutcliffe killed 13 women - including a 16-year-old shop assistant. His youngest victim, just 14 when Sutcliffe hit her five times in the head with a hammer in 1975, survived the attack.

Sutcliffe was sentenced to 20 life terms in prison and was later diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.

I renewed my 5 year driver's licence in March and several of my staff have since then.

1 Listen to seminar on-line (about 50 minutes from memory).

    https://www.dlt-elearning.com/Home

2 Once the seminar has finished, you have to register on-line to join a queue to go to the DLT for final eye tests, photos and issuing of the new 5 year drivers licence. This may be up to two months away. They will give you a date and time.

Everything is in Thai and so you will have to get a Thai speaker to help you through the on-line seminar and registration.

No need for a medical certificate. Just bring along you existing drivers licence and the usual documents.

I know nothing about a certificate of residence as I have PR and I didn't even need my passport.

Maybe pop along to DLT first and ask what documents you need.

need to show passport so they can see what kinda visa.....and that you are who you say you are
