Chinese Men Attack Young Thai Waiter, Slashing His Arm
Cabradelmar replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand News
This country attracts the worst foreigners... always has, and always will... when your claim to fame is prostitutes and cheap alcohol until all hours, you reap what you sow. -
Thailand Grapples with Growing Number of Foreign Beggars
Cabradelmar replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
How we got here is no mystery... everyone enters visa exempt now, and never leave. But really. All you have to do is arrest and deport any foreign beggars. Problem solved, -
Thai Prime Minister Calls Off Controversial 300-Baht Tourism Fee
Cabradelmar replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
They will change their minds soon enough... And they should. They are leaving a lot of money on the table. It's not a 300 baht ($10) one time entry/exit tax that keeps international travelers from traveling to Thailand. Hell, make it 500 baht. Don't believe the tour operators cries. Easy to collect on departure too, just reintroduce the kiosks of old. Everyone has to buy a "exit tax ticket" at the airport via the kiosk (or buy in advance on online using your phone) before passing security. Kiosk could even take credit cards. So so easy. And it doesn't burden the poorest people from neighboring countries who entry/exit by land. -
Spitting mad: Russian tourist’s traffic light tantrum in Phuket
Cabradelmar replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Already left the country but hired a lawyer... Seems he really wants to come back some day. I hope they keep him out permanently. When the garbage is out, you don't bring it back in. -

Thai Tourism Revenue to Hit 3 Trillion Baht, Falls Short of Goal
Cabradelmar replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
That's how budgets and revenue guidance work... In every corporation and government agency the world over... Missing a projection is not the goal, nor considered a success. EVER. Believe me, they care (and it creates concern for those involved) when there own projections are missed. -
Thai Tourism Revenue to Hit 3 Trillion Baht, Falls Short of Goal

It's a 15% shortfall, certainly not de minimis, but better than missing the goal by 20%, sure. -
Thai Tourism Revenue to Hit 3 Trillion Baht, Falls Short of Goal

More tourist, spending less. Not what they were hoping for, but here we are. My opinion... letting tourist stay longer (on 30-60-90 day visa exempt) translates into those people simply stretching their finite budgets (buying their own groceries, etc.) to cover a longer period of stay. They don't necessarily spend at the rate they would if they were only here a few weeks. -
Thailand's looking to jump start their flailing economy by taxing more... Great idea 🙄 they better rethink those tax tables and rewrite the foreign tax credit rules or EVERYONE (who can leave) will leave this place. On its face, this type of massive shift in taxation approach looks like something beyond their depths of understanding or capabilities.

UK warns British tourists to behave in Thailand or face jail time
Cabradelmar replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It really is true then, UK citizens are a problem group (broadly speaking). Even your own government has to issue a warning 😂 which of course will be interpreted as a challenge to behave worse 😂 does this mean all the whining about Brit bashing will end (seeing as there is now confirmation of the truth by your own government). -

British Man Allegedly Assaults Thai Village Manager
Cabradelmar replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Thais tend to like those foreigners more who are just plain tourist because they tend to go with the flow (even when it's against their own better judgement), and then simply leave... Long stay expats (and those here just for the partying) are a different lot... and Thais love calling them out (by nationality it seems) for their bad behavior (which there is no shortage; and a lot of it alcohol fueled)... seems certain expats/foreigners have a tendency to grow tired of the constraint frustrations associated with living in a very different (sometimes unusual) country. Makes you wonder why some choose to come/stay when it seems they might be happier else where. -
British Pensioner Struggles with Frozen Pension in Thailand
Cabradelmar replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
When I said have the son escort her though the airport, I was referring to the entire trip (end to end), though to final destination. May all be moot if her condition is respiratory or heart related and it's dangerous for her to fly.
