This, on top of the long stay insurance scheme (which covers non covid illness), simply allows them to get twice as much from their beloved tourist/expat community. Fairness and equity be damed.

The prisons are being fitted now to allow for all the tourist to "live the life"????... Or simply come stay for 9 months while being tracked in lockdown at inflated prices????... It's losing its appeal quickly????

It's not wrong thinking. Really. When the global pandemic is declared over, would be best. I understand the economics of the tourism nightlife industry, and it is difficult. The pandemic is hard on many. But for responsible social drink and meals, the restaurant and some proper bars should open with more takeaway than table services, ideally. Thailand has done well (and maybe just lucky) preventing the virus, and things are improving. Stay vigilant and move slow (Thais are good at that anyway).

First. There has never been a 20% mortality rate. Anywhere. Second, if they are looking at thailands data there is only one conclusion.... there is no covid problem in Thailand (if the data is wrong is another question). Third, 18 month impact is the first real truth coming out of the committee

You really have to be in awe of Thailands delusional optimism.
