Every Thai citizen already has UCS for health insurance. Unemployment insurance should be included for all Thais as well. That's where these workers are being let down by the government. However, it's naive to think any group anywhere can be made whole by unemployment insurance. Crying poverty because you can't make 10,000 baht every night is not going to resonate with the average Thai in a country with a 340 baht per day minimum wage.

Not quite a lucrative side hustle, but if it gets one more mindless squid off the road, I'll have my camera out. No problem.

This is will only put a damper on the sexpats and sex tourist (sorry no Nana or Soi Cowboy for you). Probably not the quality tourist Thailand wants to pursue anyway ????♂️

I do like learning Thai. Is the ED doable if I'm going to stay in Bangkok?
The schools can help with the ED visa process.

It seems that the Thai government is admitting that opening the boarder will indeed lead in a surge of cases; as a result of unvaccinated Thais coming out in greater numbers, no doubt. It won't be because of a trickle of vaccinated tourist (although they will be vilified). This is sad in that this could have been mitigation with proper vaccine rollout (would have been wise to delay opening until 1 December to allow for the 70% vaccinated goal to be met). Pity the Thais who will be impacted by the coming surge.

Remember just over 2 years ago when it was announced that the mandatory 40/400k insurance was required for OA visas ( Oct 2019 ) and there was initial confusion about whether it was new OA’s only or included extensions ??
I believe this will turn out to be the same nightmare ( for OA extenders ).
3 insurance companies are already running with this:
AA
Aetna have an ad on the ASEANNOW newsletter every day.
LMG already issuing this to people wanting a new OA visa.
( NOTE: stating OA not Covid19 cover ).
Only a matter of time before it applies to extensions imho, time to make some travel plans me thinks.
That's odd because N.Sana from LMG just sent me an email saying
"For the new regulation announcement of Thai immigration that required coverage of 100,000 USD or 3 Million THB, we are working on this product to launch nearby future. Once the product is ready we will get back to you as soon as possible."

Yet another sign that Thailand does not want to be a retirement destination for old people. I'd be interested in hearing a quotation for this x8 increase in coverage. The Elite Visa at $6,000 USD per annum may be more economical

This will be the banks loss not the customers. If was a widespread breach.

New cases are not coming down enough, and the Thai population is under vaccinated. Or course they are fearful. Wait to open boarders 1 December.

The wife sleeps through the whole thing and then all she has to say is my husband is an old pensioner and I like to party... and she knows the deceased... The plot thickens ???? Otherwise if it's just a dead criminal, justified. But then again nothing is rarely as it seems in Thailand.

You seem a bit naive or maybe just young. That's a potentially dangerous thing if you are looking for love in BKK or the larger tourist areas. If I where you I'd find a nice country girl. Get out of the metro areas. There is only one rule... never loose control of your finances (don't pay sin sod, don't buy vehicles or houses). And always remember... Nothing is as it seems in Thailand. You will rarely come out on top as a foreigner, you just need to manage your exceptions.

Deport and 3 year ban on reentry would be justified.

The number of Thai people who fear the vaccine (more than they actual fear the virus itself) is clearly misunderstood, or at least not being discussed openly and honestly.

The association put in an order for 5 million doses for October 2021 delivery. This prepayment scheme seems like they are trying to gage interest before committing to receiving the first order or placing any new orders.

No bars or entertainment venues open, rainy season, very few direct flights, and still can't get a COE with a Phuket sandbox hotel reservation.... Yeah, don't expect too many people

"However, they must be from countries with no mutated strain of SAR-CoV-2"
There are 0 countries that do not have a mutated strain. It's almost as if Thailand does not know what they are doing ????

Vaccinated twice? So anyone with the J&J vax is out of luck?

Idiocy knows know bounds. The implementation issues associated with a globally interoperable and secure digital cert (that has both validity and integrity) are not insignificant. Not to mention the fact that there are currently no fewer than 6+ different vaccines (worldwide) being administrated... Some different vastly effectiveness. Which ones would be recognized as legit. Seems like a non starter.

I love been to all four cities and Pattaya is no where close to being in the same class. Delusional to say otherwise

Which vaccine and how will people prove the injection? Thailand will need 3 documents in triplicate signed by an insurance company and a doctor ???? Not to mention vaccine does not last forever against all strains, and people can still be asymptomatic with a vaccine

Fantastic money laundering scheme for Chinese drug lords.

Who is in charge here. The most dangerous place to drive just became more dangerous. I guess Thailand feels left out on all the covid deaths so needs to make up ground.

Why anyone (without family here) would want to come to Thailand under such circumstances is beyond me.

Sinovac not inferior: Anutin

Yet Switzerland would not allow Thai diplomats with just the Sinovac jab into their country ???? Stop trying to saving face with the China. Sinovac is clearly sub-standard. I've no doubt it saves lives, just not as affective as most.
