Blockbuster movie scares Chinese tourists away from Thailand
Cabradelmar replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Chinese propaganda at work... CCP wants to keep money in-country... "spend locally" for the good of the collective. How affective was this one movie, ask a Chinese. One thing is certain, they are not coming to Thailand as before. -
Thai PM says use of cannabis must be regulated within six months
Cabradelmar replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Given the number of ganja shops opened in the last 12 months, that's a lot of capital investment gonna get throw under the bus... then again, maybe everyone can get some sort of medical ganja card for a small fee ???? Whatever this government decides to do, it will likely be handled as ham-handed as the initial decriminalization/legalization of recreational weed. -
Thai PM sees a role for Thaksin when he gets out of jail
Cabradelmar replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Too ill to serve his prison term in lock-up, but well enough to hold a job. I can't wait to see his "miraculous" recovery and return to civilian life. It's good to be wealthy. -
Thailand Ranks Ninth in the World for Country Most Open for Business
Cabradelmar replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If you're going to lie, at least make up a plausible lie... 9th in the entire world ???????????? -
What a waste of limited resources in a system that has far more pressing needs... they need to pay for better teachers, improve the curriculum (away from rote learning), not to mention the shortage of new/quality textbooks and classrooms. And while your at it do something about all the 15-16 year olds who quit school after the 9th grade... make grades 10-12 (Matthayom Suksa 4-6) compulsory and free (or at least tuition minimal)... free tablets is a feel good gimmick in a system desperately broken

How old is they guy and what is he doing dating college aged students. Probably a teaching maintaining the grand tradition of isaan teachers banging their students. Dowry is a very real and current tradition in isaan (amoung Thais). But 1m THB is extortion (even of she was a virgin with a college degree).

Bangkok governor wants the city to become “international business hub”
Cabradelmar replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Stay in your lane BKK/THA. Just be happy to be the world's party and prostitution hub. Business hubs don't work all that well in kingdoms with military dictatorships every 10 years, or in countries with judiciary and police that don't uphold the rule of law, not to mention the rampant corruption brought about by embedded patronage, hierarchy and protection rackets. -
Only people upset are elites, royalist, and military (not in on the con), but they will get over it. PT has sold their sole to the those very same people, and now THA has a puppet for a PM who is controlled by the very people who hate Thaksin the most. Most PT followers are poor people from the NE and north who don't see what's happening (or care) as they all still love Thaskin and think PT is doing wonderful things to move the kingdom forward. The country's politics are as disfunctional now as they've ever been. Same same but different.

US English teacher arrested for sexual relation with 16 y/o student
Cabradelmar replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Well, he's a teacher with a full grown beard... my guess is 24 yrs old if he's a day. He sure isn't a teenager. If he was a teenager and dating underage teenage girls maybe there is leniency (depending)... but in this case he's just a dirt-bag who betrayed he's trust as a teacher. They probably should investigate his background in the US. Doubt this is his first rodeo. -
ATTA doubts efficacy of free visa plan for Chinese tourists
Cabradelmar replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The Chinese are broke and worried about the economy's future (especially their youth), with less money to spend on international travel. They are staying domestic. That's why HK surpassed THA as the #1 tourist destination in 2023. -
Thaksin submits application for royal clemency
Cabradelmar replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Knowing full well he still has a lot of support from the poor, many of whom will be disappointed if clemency is not granted. Even most sec. 112 offenders are typically granted clemency eventually (usually on he Kings birthday). But after less than 1 month in lockup? You can say this about Thaksin, he is nothing, if he is not bold. -
The days of military coups in Thailand are gone : Sutin
Cabradelmar replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
No nothing has changed. The fundamentals remain. Read a history book. The only think that is certain is that THA will have another coup in it's future. -
Not happening. If I had a dollar for every half-baked comment or pronouncement, from self important Thai politicians, that never come to fruition, I'd never worry about money again.

Petition submitted against Thaksin seeking Royal pardon
Cabradelmar replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Exactly. And his 2 biggest enemies are the 2 most dominant institutions (the military and monarchy). -
PM to look into extending tourist visas to 90 days
Cabradelmar replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No way will they allow more countries under a 90 day VER. The last thing immigration wants is people living full time in THA under VER (Visa exempt rules). It's already a cakewalk for VER countries to stay 60 days in THA on holiday (30 day VER and one 30 day extension for 1900 THB). Anyone staying longer than 60 days should have a visa. This is just a new PM plowing smoke at the tourist industries constant whining. If anything they should allow more countries under the already established 30 day VER program. -
Doctor Reveals Concerning Symptoms in Thaksin's Condition
Cabradelmar replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Is thaksin sick? Does the Pope deficate in the woods? ???? Thaksin looked well in all those kickboxing workout videos he posted online
