  1. The PM has no original ideas... Just the same old same old tourism luring 🤷 we'll see how this plays out. I doubt it will make much difference one way or the other. The Russians that can and want to get out of Russia (for holiday or to escape Vlad's war) already have. And those that haven't can't or won't.
  2. Hardly interesting ... Farang and Thai combine to commit fraud, get caught 🤷
  3. Thai PM just being a suckup. Under normal circumstances Vladimir wouldn't even bother to meet Srettha. But since Russia has few friends (other than China and N Korea), Vladimir has an open calendar. But he might not be so keen on Thailand rolling out the welcome mat to all Vladimir's military recruits.
  4. So it's now possible to live year round in Thailand as a Russian tourist (no visa required). 90 day visa free entry, 30 day in country extension. Do 2 land boarder bounces per year, rinse and repeat, and you're in for 360 days.
  5. The rule of law gone off the rails again... What, did they think they where making up for all the other "free walks" by making one big nonsense prison sentence? Thai-dumb (logic).
  6. This is the kind of writing you get when leaning to heavily on ChatGPT ????
  7. I love when anyone gets arrested for breaking the law, because I never have to worry about being arrested. Criminal justice schadenfreude ????
  8. The Chinese are not coming in mass anytime soon. Good, bad or indifferent. Those are the facts. And the only ones that seem surprised is TAT. The world is a far different place than it was in 2019 (far more fear, uncertainty, doubt - beit economic, war, guns/drugs/crime - there's plenty to point to). Yet TAT still wants to believe 50 million tourist will be arriving by 2025. TAT has lost the plot entirely.
  9. Whatever his excuses, that's all they are are excuses. Act the fool and you will be treated accordingly. Now his fun in Pattaya is over; hopefully he will contemplate the consequences of his actions on a return flight to Israel. Regret is a powerful teacher.
  10. What about the 1000s of Thais desperate to leave Israel? Israeli thinking about themselves first, I guess ???? Nothing better than war to drive tourism. TAT probably thinking about visa free entry for Hamas and Palestinians. Thailand is turning into a refugee camp between the Russians, Ukrainian and Israeli... none of this is going to end well.
  11. And what will happen with the funds collected when not paid out to the dead and dying tourist? "Administrative expenses" no doubt... ???? classic Thailand. Spending money they don't have on populist giveaways, and then collecting more fees from the only hand that feeds (tourist) - without any transparency - to enrich the corrupt and contemptible.
  12. Arbitrarily enforcement based on patronage and protection racks, no doubt. They should just outlaw all handguns and begin melting down the existing ones (offer 10.000 THB to anyone who turns one in). Mandatory 10 years in prison if caught simply possessing one. That's real change.
  13. One if many planned populist giveaways with no way to pay for it... great idea ????...
  14. Thailand has an immerging gun problem. Do nothing, or more of the same, and in 20 years it will be unfixable.
  15. Nothing was explained. Only one more embarrassed than the TRD by this latest news is ScandAsia for reporting it as a clarification.
  16. If you are married to a Thai or have a "moral obligation" to support a thai (and you have complete trust) look into gifting. It's quite possibly to avoid paying taxes on those remittances (almost entirely). And for all you US folks... do your FBAR reporting because Thailand just signed up to CRS.
  17. It's complicated. But the first step Thailand took was to be come a signatory on CRS. They just started reporting this month. They will also have access to other signatories reporting to the extent the accounts belong to tax residents of Thailand.
  18. It's a debit card so is still considered a remittance for Thai tax purposes
  19. With the EUs immigration issues as they are now, there is no way they are allowing more visa free travel.
  20. Just shows how deep and wide corruption in the RTP goes. If you needed any more evidence.
  21. Chinese propaganda at work... CCP wants to keep money in-country... "spend locally" for the good of the collective. How affective was this one movie, ask a Chinese. One thing is certain, they are not coming to Thailand as before.
  22. Given the number of ganja shops opened in the last 12 months, that's a lot of capital investment gonna get throw under the bus... then again, maybe everyone can get some sort of medical ganja card for a small fee ???? Whatever this government decides to do, it will likely be handled as ham-handed as the initial decriminalization/legalization of recreational weed.
  23. Too ill to serve his prison term in lock-up, but well enough to hold a job. I can't wait to see his "miraculous" recovery and return to civilian life. It's good to be wealthy.
