How refreshing to hear someone actually make sense. As a Canadian who has enjoyed free medical care (btw, our taxes aren't much higher than in the US & and we consistently rank around #1 in country rankings) for my entire life, I find it so odd that so many Americans want to keep the rip off insurance companies in business. If everyone is given free medical care, why would anyone obsess about keeping their wonderful private insurance? Wouldn't it make more sense to cover everyone, and let rich people pay more to speed up the waiting time for elective surgery? As for free tuition in universities, why not? If you don't invest in your people first, what sort of country do you expect to end up with.... Oh yeah, that one!! ????
Stories like this is why Americans want to keep our healthcare.
TORONTO — WHEN SHARON Shamblaw was diagnosed last summer with a form of blood cancer that could only be treated with a particular stem cell transplant, the search for a donor began. A Toronto hospital, 100 miles east of her home in St. Mary's, Ontario, and one of three facilities in the province that could provide the life-saving treatment, had an eight-month waiting list for transplants.
Four months after her diagnosis, Shamblaw headed to Buffalo, New York, for treatment. But it was too late. She died at the age of 46, leaving behind a husband and three children, as detailed by the Toronto Star.

Oh my God. They are not going to deport you. Just wait until your next visit to IM and file it then. If they charge you 800 THB, so be it. What's that, less than $30 USD. Everyone is getting crazy about this and if you don't have the 800 THB, then I feel so so so sorry for you. I'm done... all of these posts are just so idiotic.... Don't bother to reply because I won't read it.
Yes you will.

"We're not trying to take healthcare away from anyone. That's what Republicans are trying to do."
That's funny. The Republicans haven't taken away any of my healthcare. Is this like saying the Republicans are trying to take away Social Security? The only one's that have ever taken money from Social Security are the Democrats. They are the one's that put Social Security into the General Fund.

Thailand’s exports have dropped due to the appreciation of the baht and the US-China trade war, Adul said.
Funny how Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines are gaining momentum due to the U.S. China trade war. Thailand needs to look inward more and discover the real truth. Hell, everyone else has!

The thing to remember is that many US expats resident in all the countries of Asia are former or retired US military & DoD civilians who were stationed in PI, Japan, Korea, Guam, even Australia & Singapore. So, the knock-on effect is probably significant.
Guam is the United States!
Also, you left out Thailand, Vietnam.

Not surprising actually.
Because when one considers total quality of life the cleaner air etc of many of the front runners is obvious
Plus with Canada US expats on medicare are just a drive away from a US hospital
What was surprising was seeing the Philippines has 4 times as many US expats as Thailand.
Between those two I would have thought Thailand was ahead
It says where they are collecting Social Security Checks. Not where they are living. The Social Security office is in Manila. Making it easier to arrange having one's Social Security payments sent to direct deposit in the bank.

Pretty much anyone can see Youtube in China using a VPN. Most don't as they have Youku, iQiYi, etc.
Anyone seeking accurate, informed information shouldn't really rely on Youtube anyway.
Yes true, but doesn't do away with the fact that it is not legal. I find Youtube to be informative. An educated person would not have any trouble deciphering what is true and what is false.
-
Who are they kidding? There are even YouTube videos telling people to not go to Thailand due to the baht, crime, corruption.
Maybe, more Chinese will come though. Since YouTube is not allowed in China.

I can put up with all the bull crap for one more year or less. Giving up the business to the wife's family and then it's out of here.

If it was about that they would be fining everybody the max fine of 2,000 baht instead of 800 baht or even fining people under section 37 for not reporting a change of address that has a mx fine of 5000 baht.
Why is it, that a person with a re entry permit which is basically a permission to leave and then return. Has to reaffirm that they have in fact returned? Why would someone get a re entry permit, if they were not going to return? It seems to me that the TM 30 is just rather redundant.

Also I don't see any special merit in speaking fluently the language of a country if you have been there since a child, zillions of children do that all over the world.
Even the Philippines has more English speakers than the United Kingdom.

Why would a tourist need to have an app to let the government know where they are? If i'm on vacation, the last thing I want to do is deal with bureaucracy.

8 minutes ago, candide said:Mueller was forbidden by the DOJ to go beyond what is already written in his report. That's why it was boring as he was not allowed to provide any answer that was not already in the report to questions by Dem or GOP reps alike.
“Any testimony must remain within the boundaries of your public report because matters within the scope of your investigation were covered by executive privilege, including information protected by law enforcement, deliberative process, attorney work product, and presidential communications privileges,” Associate Deputy Attorney General Bradley Weinsheimer wrote in a letter to Mueller that was obtained by The Hill.
How convenient that you left this out.
It was former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team who asked the Justice Department to send Mueller a letter telling him to keep his upcoming testimony to House lawmakers "within the boundaries" of the public version of his Russia probe report.

This post makes no sense.
For one, the obstruction did not happen under Obama's watch. And for two, the investigation was launched into the interference under Obama's watch. Obama didn't interfere in the investigation, because President's shouldn't have their thumb on the justice department.
If it happened pre election, then it definitely happened under Obama's watch.
-
All this apparently happened under Obama's watch while he was still president. Why is it, he was not brought before congress to answer questions? Ever!

Trump: "And you could say this was a great day for me, but I don't even like to say that,"
Yeah sure, being humble is far from the first word anyone would use to describe you, especially if you need to announce it.
OP: "Trump told reporters outside the White House as he was leaving on a trip to West Virginia. "And now they have less than nothing. And I think they're going to lose the 2020 election very big,..." [Bold added.]
So this former rich kid couldn't get a grammar teacher? What a role model, bigly.
I bet the "Prince of Whales" uses better grammar.
But, Trump told a complete and total lie, and as if anyone believes Trump actually read the long Mueller Report.
So Donald, is that also part of your "great day" for the presidency. You do know that you are not just running a real estate business?
Mueller can't exonerate anybody. Even a jury can only find someone not guilty, but cannot exonerate anyone.
After watching the Mueller hearings. It is quite evident that Robert Mueller did not write the report. He actually knew very little as to what was even in it.
Further proof, the whole thing is a sham.

The hospitals are full of people who are having a very hard time breathing. It is a real issue there. Lung disease is at an epidemic level, though the authorities do not like to talk about it, and publish very little information on it.
One can say the same about Thailand. The hospitals are full in the burning season.
