Will we ever rid ourselves of The Big C., Cancer?
Lacessit replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Cancer cannot be eliminated by evolution. Most cancers occur after humans have finished breeding, so any genetic predisposition to cancer is not part of the natural selection process. The other factor in the development of cancers is environmental exposures. It's a stark fact if one is a smoker, they are 20 times more likely to develop lung cancer than a non-smoker. I don't know what the situation is now, but back in the seventies humans were creating about 12,000 new chemicals a year. It is inevitable some would be carcinogenic. However, association of a particular cancer with the causative carcinogen would take decades to surface. Example: b-naphthylamine was first isolated from coal tar in the mid- 1800's. It was used in rubber as an anti-oxidant. By the 1930's, medical researchers started noticing high levels of bladder cancer in rubber workers. It was not until 1974 that b-naphthylamine was officially designated as carcinogenic. Humans have been consuming alcohol for millennia. It did not get designated as a Class 1 carcinogen until 1989. Back in the thirties and forties, mothers were encouraged to drink stout while pregnant. Then there is synergism, the enhanced effect of a combination of chemicals. IMO it's going to take AI to sort that one out. -

PET ( Positron Emission Tomography ) scans are used to detect cancerous tumors in a full body scan. After fasting for 12 hours, a patient is injected with radioactive sugar. They then wait for an hour for the sugar to distribute itself through the body. Cancer cells absorb sugar far faster than normal cells. The tumors show up as hot spots of radioactivity in the scan. If cancer loves sugar so much, why give it what it wants? -
I am wondering if Putin and the Russians are behind the fake AI images of Trump with black people, as I doubt Trump supporters have the brains for manipulating AI without help. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-68440150 It's like the Drake fiasco, everything about Trump is fake. This is what real AI would do.........

Hasn't worked for me, what am I doing wrong?

Perhaps you should think more carefully about what you say before you type, no?

ER - no. Most of the world's population is not overweight or obese, your knowledge is faulty. Here's the real picture. Put simply, Americans are obese because they eat too much. When I first visited America, I was shocked by the size of the portions in restaurants. Insane, just like gun policy - or lack of it. According to the map, 50% of Americans are obese. Statistically, that means it's the toss of a coin if someone fronting up to a gun counter is a fat waddler.

i don't disagree. However, it's interesting there are still flaws in the machine. Several World Champion chess players ( Kasparov, Kramnik ) have been beaten by chess AI.

It's official, I AM smarter than Gemini. The word is DECREE. Yes!!!

It's why many countries have travel advisories.

I won't get up myself about it. A good friend once told me "It doesn't matter how smart you think you are, there will always be someone smarter than you".

It means you shoot your toes off trying to do a fast draw on debate/discussion. A manager I remember quite fondly. There was also a guy we used to call Wet Cement, because he could talk through it. Your posts remind me of him.

Can't you read? Bard provided two words to my prompt, so it must have understood my prompt. It also understood the word recede had already been used. I won't claim I am smarter than Gemini until I have solved the required word. The title of the thread is "Bard/Gemini is not so smart" If it was really smart, it should not matter what prompt I use.

"And will increase in every nation that has guns" My point exactly. Has anyone ever called you No-Toes?

Was it not Willy Loman in "Death of a Salesman " who complained his washing machine consumed belts like a maniac? I bought my GF a Samsung washing machine about 6 years ago, she loves it. Much easier than beating wet clothes on the concrete sides of the local klong, although I do miss the wet T-shirts.

I can be terse , or expand a bit more if I feel it is necessary. Double spacing is a courtesy to other people who don't like reading sentences packed like sardines.
