Voters certainly can do something about a government that messes with their pensions. Politicians in Australia learned long ago to avoid offending the pensioner vote. To do otherwise still is electoral suicide.

IMO the worst snobbery I encountered was in the private golf clubs in Scotland. I think I got shoulder strain from changing in and out of a jacket and tie so often. One of the members there was complaining about declining membership. I said it was not surprising, given the rigidity of their dress code. I am not advocating golf in flipflops and wifebeaters. However, there is a middle ground.

I have had my share of failures as well as victories. I can remember coming up the last hole of a club championship, needing a par to win. Getting dark, and my second shot was from a good position. Either I was having a problem with depth perception, or I was fired up with adrenaline. Most probably the latter. I finished up under the clubhouse at the back of the green, and took 6 to lose by a stroke. A couple of weeks later, I played my second from about the same position, same 7 iron. It finished 2 feet from the pin.

My personal record for 18 holes ( 2 players ) is 1 hour 50 minutes, when I was much younger. Anything over 4 hours even now is too bloody slow. It gets a bit frustrating here when I get stuck behind Asian players, who seem to accept 6 hours as normal. I usually cut the round short, or move to another hole, when that happens. Participating in a sport is not the same as watching it.

Golf is like fishing in that respect.

What will you be giving the Wife or Partner for Christmas?

Believe it or not, it's a special treat for them. Good post of yours, though. -

I give modest cash gifts to her family members, and take her and the grandchildren to KFC. -

How do you know she is not faking it? -
IMO the bans on travel during COVID are unlikely to happen again, every country saw what it did to their national airlines. I doubt there will be carbon passports, AFAIK nobody has worked out how to fly passenger aircraft with batteries.

Australians call it soccer too. We play Australian Rules football, which is far more physically taxing. A midfielder covers 15 - 20 km in a game. Granted, there are moments of great skill in passing the ball by foot alone. Or a well-executed header. However, i'd agree there are long periods when the players don't seem to be doing anything. I suppose there are masochists who enjoy watching a 0-0 drawn game, I am not one of them.

KPlus of Kasikorn on multiple devices?
Lacessit replied to david888's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I have Kplus installed on my laptop and phone. I can't say I have tried to login on both simultaneously, why would you want to do that? -
Depends on whether one is a glass half empty or glass half full person. We may be heading into a depression, IMO I am well equipped with cash if it is.

IMO you identified the type of golfer who bores non-golfers, i.e. not proficient. I avoid discussion of golf with non-golfers, except on this thread of course. I've observed for many people who go to cricket or horse racing, it's an excuse to get plastered. I still remember a guy who was invited to the Melbourne Grand Prix. He stayed in the hospitality tent all day, the staff had to pour him into a taxi.

Not much of a golfer, with 8 PGA victories? You set a high bar. As I said in my OP, golf is a test of character. I have noticed cheating seems to be much more prevalent in Thailand. In Australia, it was instant ostracism.

Could not open the Simone Biles link, found her on YouTube. Dynamic. Superhuman is what I call the Shenea Booth static position at 3 minutes 37 seconds. Everyone is different, I am never bored with golf. OTOH, when I used to do runs for cardio exercise, I found them very boring.

There are phonies in golf who dress to kill, and replace their golfing equipment every year. I never had any problem beating them, because I never saw them on the practice range. I just let my clubs do the talking.

Haven't had flu for decades, but then I keep up-to-date with vaccinations.

IMO having sex after 10 pints is fantasy. The OP is in denial of brewer's droop. Let alone until 3 am, 15 seconds and snoring if he gets lucky.

Nothing wrong with your eyesight, then.

Australian Aged Pension
Lacessit replied to VOICEOVER's topic in Australia & Oceania Topics and Events
I am on a part OAP because I lost a considerable amount during the GFC of 2008. With that money, I would not be a burden on the taxpayer. There are thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of pension recipients in a similar situation after the GFC. It is a matter of record the performance of government regulators such as the ACCC and ASIC was abysmal before, during, and after the GFC. That situation is still in existence today. In point of fact, the stench of corruption still hangs over ASIC. Which is why I have no compunction whatsoever in screwing the government for every cent I can get. They caused the problem. -
Australian Aged Pension
Lacessit replied to VOICEOVER's topic in Australia & Oceania Topics and Events
I am afraid you are still terrible at logic and math. Let's say I made 500 posts on this thread, which I am far from doing. Maybe 50 - 100, as if I care. Those 500 posts get 2 positive emojis = 1000. How does that stack up against 36,800 positives? It's still only 3%. Your claim I come on to this thread to get emoticons is ludicrous. Now, I see you are attacking other posters who sided with me. How mature. Is there someone coming along to support you? You have stated before you are not an age pension recipient yourself. IMO that entitles everyone else on this thread to question your motivations in posting. -
I started golf as a caddie in Australia, at one of the top clubs. It's a shame the caddie system died out, because I learned a lot at that end of the spectrum. There are many people who would disagree with you, as they earn a good living from golf. That's not tour just professionals, who get eye-watering prize money. It's club managers, greenkeepers, bar staff and pro shop staff, to whom golf is highly relevant. It puts food on the table. I really doubt business is done on the golf course anymore, executives at that level are too time-poor nowadays.

There is an expression golf professionals use," in the zone". They probably get there more often than amateur golfers. It may happen in other sports. I have been "in the zone" about half a dozen times in my more than 60 years of golf. It's a combination of knowing one is going to win, and feeling invincible. The great thing about it is how long it lasts, playing the final 9 holes of a championship. As far from boring as it can get. The video is not gymnastics per se. However, IMO it is one of the most stunning displays of female athleticism i have ever seen.
