what i mean by closed deposit is indeed fixed deposit.

immigration want to see the money, USD or THB , sitting in a liquid savings account,

as if it is ready to be spent and boost the thai economy.

immigration accepts also foreign currency deposits for extention, but they must not be in a closed deposit but in savings account (liquid, ready to be spent).

i allways got my deposits.

you need to know with whom you are dealing.

i allways ask for receipt and check the landlord response.

once in a hotel i asked for a receipt after i paid.

he told me not now. i said yes now. he said not now.

come back in two hours, i came back after two hours, he said again not now.

i said - so i check out. no receipt, no stay.

the reason for that is security. if the hotel owner / receptionist is cheating you

with a receipt, he might very well break into your room.

first, there is no need to rent long term and no need to pay so much.

most hotels in phuket are empty and giving huge discounts, check agoda.com

second, my advice to you is to leave this condo as soon as you can and never look back.

my policy in thailand is zero tolerance for crooks and rude traders.

there are so many nice thai business people, that we do not need to

suffer from the stupid arrogant ones.

if he is cheating you on one deposit he might as well break into you condo.

but do not do anything aggresive, no confrontation. just wait for your contract to end,

take whatever he gives from your deposits, and never look back.

Yes, the rules state, if you can get a refund, then you don't qualify for a tax credit. But, hey, reading Asean Now, and other Thai forums, I find that to get a refund, I need a Thai tax ID, and further reading gives examples of this being impossible without a work permit, which I don't have. You'd never get audited for a piddly tax credit -- but if you did, just print out an Asean Now response about no-can-do.

 

Ethically bereft? Naaa. You're still paying the same amount of tax; but in this case, Thailand gets to keep the taxes, and the US doesn't. Seems fair, that the country where the interest is earned gets first taxation rights.

 

 

The reason you might want a thai tax ii.d. is the beurocracy in many other countries that

are asking you for your tax i.d. if you want to open a bank account there or just transfer money.,

in many countries, you cannot do anything on line without providing some tax i.d. number.

problem is that there are many "good" copies that will take time to discover as fakes.

that ultra s21 is a jock, but there are many mid range models like a52 and a22 that

might work ok, will be sold for full price and will take long time to expose.

LAZADA are full of them. when you ask if it is fake, you get funny answers

like thumbs up, or no answer at all.

this is a real scam that destroy the reputation of the whole site.

in thailand there are'nt many trading opportunities, besides THAI AIRWAYS that

usually this show is around november. i attended it once and liked it a lot.

many expensive cars, like bentley that cost over 1 million dollar !!

it is just a case of inefficient / lazy bank clerks.

i tried twice to change my phone / passport number with bangkok bank.

in both cases, i had to wait until nothing hapaned, than return to the bank and ask what

happaned, than they would apply again for the phone number change with the other branch,

than again nothing happaned, than they called the other bank, and there they said

some stupid excuses, and than, only than, the numbers changed !!!

so what hapans is simply that those bankers see a farang account from

another branch, and skip it, because they are too lazy. they know the farang

will not come tomorrow to ask what hu ha/

so your best solution is just to try again and again .
