  1. so if i travel to hua hin for one day, i have to go to immigration to do this TM 30 form. than i am free to enjoy the beach.

but the trip to immigration office in hua hin takes 20 minutes.

than there is a line of 30-40 minutes.

than go back another 20 minutes.

    does it really worth it?

to spend 2-3 hours every time i travel to another place in thailand, just to fill another form?

NOOO...i don't think i will take my holiday like that.

Ok, here is what you do. Go to the IO wherever you're at and ask if there is someone who works there can help you expedite your application. Pretty sure there are officers in every office that would help you for a fee. If they are the ones walking it thru you most likely will suffer minimal resistance ie 6 month lease, landlord pic etc.

If your expeditor is an officer who works there I don't think you will be getting a bogus stamp.

Officers that will help me for a fee? I AM affraid that is illegal. i mean, i am really affraid to offer any bribe to any officer, just because it is indeed illegal. the officer who told me to come with a 6 months fee lease also told me " but no need if ..." i don't want to analise it or even ask about it. i guess this is how immigration officers are, not only in thailand. truth is that many immigration officers, all over the world, are confused cause there are so many rules and regulations. i can go tomorrow to another officer and he will tell me something else. anyway i will not let an agent handle my passport, after the horror stories i heard.

But it doesn't happen in every Immigration office across the country.

That's the problem in thailand. your immigration status, hence your investments , and all your future here, are depandant on the mood of this immigration officer or other. a friend of mine who is married to thai , with good business and kids, got a compliment from immigration officer  : " you are superman". MEANING  that he meet all criteria and beyond.

i told him he should not be happy about such compliment cause it is not proffestional .  next day another officer don't like him and tell him "YOU ARE SPIDERMAN" and than what?

I know exactly what he's got.

600 USD is approximately 19,000 baht. That's the kind of fee an agent charges for obtaining the Non Imm O, extension and multi re-entry permit. The actual cost is 2,000 + 1,900 + 3800.

If he paid his agent 15K on top for a fee, he must have used the one with a large glass window that's see's you coming.

I was just trying to get him to clarify his misleading figures.

What was the 600 USD for. (19,000 baht)

What was the 15K baht for.

money is not the problem here. i dont have a problem paying 15K bht to an agent, if i will really get the visa. problem is that you can't trust those agents. some people in thailand are desperate and will do anything to get some cash, even will use fake immigration stamps. happaned to a friend of mine in another country. he had to sit in jail !!!

and he had no idea that the extention stamp is fake until he left the country and got arrested at the airport.

Look here I'm not the one on here two weeks, 100 comments and no closer to getting a simple extension than when I started. A "fixer" who might as well bullshit me as it happans so many times. If you get bullshitted so often maybe you need to go about things a different way. No wander you are so bitter.

i am not bitter. and i was not bullshiited. why are you so angry? this forum is very helpful indeed.

there are nice people here who are willing to help, but you are not one of them.

you just want to scream and shout and put people down...and for what?

it's just a freindly forum talk here...no need to get so angry.

Simply that I gave my expeditor 15K, seasoned funds bank letter, passport, address and two photos and she took care of all. I chilled at the beach. Point was OP is creating allot of drama where none exists if you go the retirement route. Just did my renewal, dropped off my docs, picked up my multi-entry the next day. Paid 5K. So I ended up getting 27 months for 20K with a total of 2 hours of my time involved and zero stress. Worth every penny to me, one less thing to worry about.

i don't come here asking questions cause i want to create drama. i ask cause i want to know where i stand legally, i ask cause i did not get sufficient answers from lawyers and immigration officer / web sites.

and i will not use an agent cause i do not trust them. years of experience taught me not to trust agents in third world countries.

for example , a friend of mine used an agent to get year visa extention. not in thailand. when he tried to leave that country after 2 years, he was arrewted at the airport. it turned out the immigration stamps were fake.

he gave the agent his passport, and got it back with fake extention stamps !!

he had to sit in jail for few weeks and paid 18000 usd in fines and legal fees !!!

Are you claiming you got a 15 month Visa from Jomtien for $600 without any proof of financials.

no, he means that you get in total 15 months (3 months non imm O + one year extention) for a payment of total 600 USD (2000 bht for the 3 month  O visa + 12 months year extention + 15,000 bht to his expeditor, whom he loves so much).

  8. 16 hours ago, JAZZDOG said:

I agree, there are better places for you too go if getting a retirement extension here is that stressful and difficult for you. Hard to understand because I have long stay visas in two of the countries you mention and both were expensive and time consuming. Thailand was a walk in the park and I come and go without any problems. My expeditor is a very nice person, no BS and gets paid only when I receive my paperwork completed.

so you like your expeditor. i see. that is nice.

Told you to get a fixer for 15K seventy comments ago. Everyone is like " Oh no, too much money ". Deal is the fixer will know somebody and that somebody gets a little bump and you fly thru, no problem. That's why you and others get friction, no grease. If you had an expeditor you would be done by now and not talking about taking trips around the country finding an IO that might see things your way. Not many places on earth you can get a 15 month visa for US$ 600 just handing off a few documents to an expeditor. You really sound like a person who needs to come off the 15K and be sides if you have some problem with immigration down the road you will have a rent-a-buddy.

Not many places on earth you can get a 15 month visa for US$ 600??? many places on earth will give you 1-2 year visa for less than that, and with no headechs and changing requirements every few months / officers. for example cambodia give you one year visa for 300 USD, no need for bank deposits (allthought cambodian USD deposits pay 6-7% annualy !!) . philipines you can come and go as you wish, for years, get extention for 2-3 months with no problem, no one in the airport will tell you "YOU IN OUT TOO MUCH". And most european and south american countries will give you 6 months visa on entry, and than extentions very easy (if you have a first world passport). that is why i wonder why i have to struggle like that. and why to pay 15K for a "fixer" who might as well bullshit me as it happans so many times.

They income affidavit is to prove you are retired. That is one of their requirements if showing the 800k baht in the bank. You could also do a affidavit stating you are retired.

And than does it mean i am not allowed to work anymore outside of thailand?

  11. 11 hours ago, ubonjoe said:

I suggested before that the consulates in Savannakhet or Penang are the best nearby locations to get the non-o visa. At both locations you will need to show the 800k baht you have in the bank now and proof of retirement which can be a income affidavit showing any amount of money.

Phnom Penh can be difficult to get the non-o visa.

If recall correctly you do not qualify to apply for the visa at immigration since your 800k was not transferred into the country.

Not all offices require a 6 month rental agreement. Perhaps that was only to apply for the non immigrant visa. It may not be needed to apply for the extension of stay.

yes, i applied for the Non Imm O Visa. thanks again for your advice. but what is proof of retirement which can be a income affidavit showing any amount of money? Won't the 800K baht in the bank will be sufficient for those consulates? will it be enougth if i will go there with my thai bank passbook???

So, sounds like you do not qualify or meet the Thailand requirements.

Try Cambodia, I hear they are much more friendly regarding this issue.

well, my nationality do meet the Non Imm O Visa, and as i mentioned, i did come prepared, but no where in the

requirements in says i have to show 6 months real estate contract...do you know for sure that i can get this type of visa also in cambodia OR other thai consulates?

  13. 10 hours ago, Tanoshi said:

No, I got in the UK, based on being over 50 and proof of financials.

They've since changed the requirements and it's now only available if 65 or over and receiving the state pension.

Now those below 65 and single, enter on a TV or VE and go through the conversion process at Thai Immigration.

are you sure you got the Non Imm O Visa and not the O-A? i think the Non Imm O Visa is different...

  14. so finally, after a lot of research here and in other places, went to the immigration office to get my Non Imm O Visa.

i thought i have anything ready. but what did the immigration officer told me?

you need to show a six month contract with I.D. photos of your land lord.

i asked him how am i supposed to sign a six month contract when i don't have a visa for six months?

WELL, than he got into what i call THE LOOP - paradoxes or bugs in bureaucracy that get things stucked , maybe cause they meant to do so...

I think immigration would accept the first 30k baht you used to open the account and then 770k baht baht transferred from abroad.

The bank will confirm the total amount transferred from abroad in one letter.

You do not need to prove the 800k baht came from abroad to apply at the consulate in Penang.

can i get the Non Imm O Visa from any thai embassy abraod?

or just from penang and others?

can i get this type of visa, for example, from thai consulate in japan, or manila, or phnom phen?

You got the standard letter from the bank that anyone requesting it for Immigration receives.

The other form/letter that you can request details the foreign transaction.

I didn't need it, but Bangkok Bank issued it regardless.

It's also recorded in your passbook as an FTT deposit (Foreign Transfer Transaction).

When you say I DIDNT NEED IT - do you mean the immigration officer did not ask for it?
