thats one mistake that might seem funny, but proves why thailand is a nerve breaking place when it comes to business - so many mistakes and 50/50 and miscommunication with officials / banks / officers ext., and aventually who is left to pay the price ? you guessed right, the one who has the money, the farang !!
(in the sample above, a tourist might be mistaken to think that he can change up to 15,000 USD into thai baht , and than, if caught with a cash amount more than 50,000 baht, might lose it all !!!

The cash could have been proceeds of crime (maybe it was). He then has time to prove that it was not and can then reclaim the cash. He clearly had something interesting and not clearly correct in his tax report.
So what is horrific about that
I have quite recently gone through Heathrow with a reasonably significant amount. All you have to do is fill in the form and talk to the cash team. This took about 10 minutes and was a pleasant chat.
In Ethiopia, my transit country the procedure was similar, though it was before exiting the airport and they counted the money (the UK cash team did not). The Ethiopian limit is much lower than the UK or Thai one.
Most countries have limits on cash being carried without a declaration, some (Canada is one) will fine you if you have more and haven't declared it.
WHAT'S horrific about it is that:
A. the UK customs stopped a UK resident / citizen. if he is a suspect in any crime they could arrest him before travel
B. the UK customs could not find anything on him so they decided to check his tax status and found there a small problem, the guy was just an owner of small shop, not a big deal.
C. the amount - in that youtube movie - was not substantial, just 3800 pound.
D. the guy was arab / muslim flying to arab country, smells like racial profiling (same as in most youtube movies there,
the custom oficers check mostly dark skin / white trash people.
E. the smart guys who really know how to smuggle don't carry cash like that, and don't neccasary wear dark skin / cheap clothes.
F. it is nasty to sniff people for cash when they are just about to fly out OF an airport. drugs and explosives i fully understand, but cash? give us a break, you frikkin Uk customs control friks !!!

Please, do not call me son. Nobody calls me son. My father used to, and he was entitled. But you? No way. Not for a nanosecond. I do look at Trump. What I see is a woman who would not be with that man for a minute, if he did not offer her wealth and status. She despises being first lady. It is obvious by the way she looks at him, and her body language, that they are never, ever intimate, and that she despises him, and has no respect for him. Why would she?
i called you son because you said that you are not a troll, and me...look at my photo...

WOW that's a lot of tourists... well done thailand...but i'm not sure you can count the chinese tourists in...since
most of them with zero dollar tours, or just walk around their hotels and spend zero.2 dollars on cheap noodle soup.

Customs shows in the uk seems to take great delight in targetting flights to Bangkok. Only last week Eva got an airing with believe it or not a flight attendant going on holiday with £3500. Fortunately phone calls from Customs to her mother satisfied them but she was on offer with no proof of where it came from. Only £1000 in uk before questions entltled to be asked
i saw it on youtube UK CUSTOMS...they have a special dog to sniff out cash, and they caught one arab guy (UK resident or citizen) on his way to dubai, with 3800 pounds in CASH . they checked on his tax reports (ALL LIVE IN THE AIRPORT) and saw something wrong there, so they confiscated all the cash...quite horrific....i hope this nazi way of spying after travellers will not spread to the rest of the world.

aliexpress , like many other web sites and even shoe shops in bangkok and other countries, are CHEATING ON SHOE SIZES !!! I have my room filled with shoes cause they were not the right size.
in the begining i thought i got it wrong, than i realised it is keep on happaning - i but
shoes in one size and they are not the right size !!
when i try them in the shop they feel right, but later i discover they are too small or too tight,
just a bit too small than usual, but it;s enought to destroy the shoe !
someone explained to me that the fault is on chinese shoe factories, who cheat on the sizes,
just a but, to save material and manufacturing costs.
BEWARE !

I was going to say soulless but that wouldn't be befitting.
Just goes to show how low they can go, I remember having on my 6,500 baht sport shoes when visiting a temple, and I was hesitant to leave them on the shoe rack, fortunately for me, I grabbed a plastic bag and put them in that, taking them with me.
This just confirms to me what is possible.
Low life's !!!
the right word here is not soulless but soleless

This thread is about overstay in Thailand, what has Australia got to do with it?
i gave australia as an example for a human and decent treatment of overstayers and illegal workers.
since thailand is a copy of australian pilicies, hopefully they can copy that too.

Oh my oh my, more blabla. The road was the entrance to Express Way which I realized too late, so I tried to change the lane as soon as I noticed it, which was too late.
mate, why don't you get it? thai police are not tourist guides, they
must stop you and charge you if they see you commit offence.
this is how they work.
maybe all police work like that.
in my home country, i was driving once at 2am an absolutely empty road.
there was a stop sign. i slowed down allmost to complete halt, and than a car behind me
pulled out blue police light, told me to stop and fined me for not stopping completely in stop sign.
nothing you can do.

Yes, as I said, I never denied the violation. I was not aware of how to handle the situation as I was never stopped before, so I just handed my licenses and said no to everything he said in Thai - he did not speak English, only the last three words were in English, ie. "Go Police station".
Regarding the violation in my home country - well, first of all there are no such weird street signs, it is all very very clearly placed. Second, I never saw a single cop standing in the middle of the road stopping cars in my home country. Third, if you are sorry and didn't want to do the violation, which was clear in my case, the police in my home country could have easily given a verbal warning.
well, fourth - in thailand the police love to catch farang, cause they know they will pay the fine.
but usually they do it according to the law.
i once stopped my bike in a red traffic light, and just played with the gas handle, preparing myself
to speed when the light turns green.
a policeman saw it and quickly approached me with a 500 bht fine. when i argued and asked what
did i do wrong, cause there was no law against VROOOM VROOOM when waiting in traffic light,
he got angry and told me "now you go police station", and there i had to pay 1000 bht.

Maybe fun for you, but what about people like me?
Lazada is a great help to me.
i was staring at lazada many times, but could not find anything i can buy there, which
i can't buy in a shopping center, so why WORRY?
when you buy in a real shop, you get to see the goods first hand, your hand. and also
a chance to get out of your house and maybe meet a beautyfull woman.
-
FIRST, the policeman is right about the traffic offence. you are guilty, as you know.
second, the policeman is not wrong about offering you to pay the fine on the spot.
he was not requesting a bribe, but offering you to pay the fine - and get a proof of payment - so
you will not have to spend your time going to the police station.
and third - how much would you pay for such an offence in your home country? i am
sure many thousands more...

That's right, although interestingly, not in the opposite direction. Thais have no special rights to work in Laos, they can get a work permit like any other foreigner but unlike the Vietnamese and Chinese, they don't (or aren't allowed to) work in menial roles or roles such as construction. How much of this is political (because Laos shares the same political system as Vietnam and China) I don't know, but I suspect it has a lot to do with it.
Cambodia and Myanmar are similar - there are some Vietnamese in Cambodia working as laborers and in construction etc. (not as many as in Laos but still) but no Thais. Thais only come as mid-level managers to oversee projects in the agricultural, food processing and power generation sectors. Ditto for Myanmar - Thais go to places like Mawlamyine on business as there is a Thai owned power plant there. However, there are probably exactly zero Thais working in the Burmese border towns - you'll see only truck drivers picking up and delivering goods and tourists going shopping, that's it.
In any Thai border city, citizens of the neighboring country dominate as traders. It's difficult to find a Thai working at the Rong Kluea market in Aranyaprathet, opposite Poipet, however, I understand the businesses themselves are all Thai owned.
Funnily enough Thais work in casinos located in Cambodia and Myanmar!
i see in many shopping centers in central bangkok nepalese and cambodians as salesman. why is that? why not thai?

That is your interpretation of what they are saying (your opinion) which you are entitled too, my understanding is that minimum wage applies to all workers
Is there exploitation in Thailand - well yes, there is also exploitation in the UK because free movement allows citizens of poorer countries to come there and work for the bare minimum, we can argue all day about what to do about it
but the minimum wage in the UK is 7 times more than in thailand.
with minimum wage in the UK you can buy good food that will support your body, with
thai min. wage your body will shrink and all your thinking process will slow down to
allmost complete halt.

most developed countries give overstayers a week or two to close their shop / other arrengemnts
before deportation.
my friend got caught working illegaly in australia. he had s shop and paid all his taxes, but
just forgot about that little thing called visa.
when immigration got him, they gave him two weeks before deportation, so he can prepare
for deportation. and of course no jail. Jail is a brutal punishment for just overstating.

maybe you want to go to the philipines for rutine checks.

What in God fearing USA, no - you must be joking.
fully aggree, only one correction - the US sex industry is not hidden, and not shy from anything. it is full blown in everybody's face.
from the san fernando porn industry, via the so called GAY PARADE, and ending with the president's ex-callgirl wife - USA is the biggest richest and dirtiest whore house in the world.
Only that you know how americans are - they must come and preach and look at everybody from above, so they can play the global police and bomb them here and there.
acctually, it is the US and the west who spread prostitution and HIV around the globe. 30 years ago there
was no HIV in thailand. it spread only threw the sperm of farang.

and there are plenty of filmed evidence to prove it.

i recently opened a bank account in thaland. i asked the banker what happans if i die - will they go looking for my heirs. she said
" hell no. only with a court order we can release your money". she meant, of course, a thai court order.
so guys, try not to die before you managed your legal will.
