  1. The difference between the videos and Thailand is that admittedly there are bad drivers in every country. But Thailand seems to take it as a challenge to see where the highest percentage of bad drivers live and drive. In neither of the two countries shown in the videos do the drivers consider red lights as only a suggestion like Thai drivers do.

Im not talking about a different opinion, i am talking about proven lies. If someone says there are no covid patient on the intensive care and its all a lie and doctors get 20k per patient. These are all proven lies. That is totally different from an other opinion.  I am talking about proven lies.

Hell the entire democratic party in America has been lying for years. It's a proven tactic. Even Hitler supported "the big lie". Either Hitler or one of his stooges said, "repeat a big lie often enough and it becomes the truth". There will always be gullible people around to swallow the lie.

No, not missing a thing, Westerners taking on Thai culture - they get away with it, why not others?

Not my way, I prefer to take the lesser risk of stopping at red lights. I never get traffic tickets - I wonder why?

In Thailand, I was under the impression based on Thai drivers that red lights were only suggestions.

It seems that farangs can get caught in a grey zone about covid vaccinations.

What thai official tells, it looks they only care of thai citizens.

Many of our born countries also seems not to care about people who are living outside the country.

Well I think/see some private thai hospitals will offer vaccinations to very overcharged prices, there was already an example in Bangkok with a private hospital who offered vaccination for around 10000 baht without having the vaccine, this is not the right way to get the vaccination, to make some greedy thai speculants happy, I think. A Pfizer or Moderna vaccine from USA/Europe cost around 1000 baht, the oxford vaccine cost around 100 baht.

I have still not seen or heard about any serious vaccine offers with quality western vaccine to farangs in Thailand, which will be avaiable this or the next year ?

    What to do ?

Considering the multitude of questions surrounding the efficacy of this so called vaccine, why would anyone want to be the experimental guinea pig in the first place?

  5. The reason is the rule previously stated about 120 students or less. PLUS COVID 19 is all BS in the first place. Check on google how many people died from influenza last year and the year before and then check how many died in 2020. Covid is being blamed for every death no matter the true cause.

What many people fail to take in to account is the "lost opportunity cost of capital"......what could the money, tied up in gold, be earning if invested elsewhere...especially at a compounded rate.

I suspect whilst some gold, as part of a broad portfolio is fine, I doubt many ordinary people make a profit.

Exactly how much are you talking about when the interest rate provided at banks is about 1.5%. Gold can appreciate much more than that pittance if bought at the right time.

Taking the gf to the gold shops tomorrow for her Chrissie present but browsing today at some of them in our shopping mall I was tempted to upgrade my 3 baht necklace to a 4 baht one. I chose one I liked and then asked how much so out come their calculators. Anyway the bottom line was that my upgrade of 1 baht was going to cost me 8000 baht over the 1 baht rate which I considered to great a margin so following a haggle we got nearer to 7000 which I still thought was far to great so I declined to proceed.
In all honesty as I bought the necklace at 22000 and considering the current gold price I was quite in profit but I still felt them taking around 10% was excessive. So my question is I often hear that ordinary Thai’s frequently buy and sell gold in these shops so how do they make a profit on their trading if that % figure is what the gold shops take. I know they have overheads but isn’t there take a little over the top.

Thai's profit from gold by buying bullion. Not jewelry. Go in the gold shop and buy a 1 baht or a 5 baht piece of gold, wait for the price to go up more than 100 baht. An example would be, Buy a 5 baht piece of gold at 22.500 baht per baht. the total would be 112,500 baht. Bring it back to that same store when the price has gone up 200 baht. The store will buy the gold back with a 100 baht surcharge leaving you with a 100 baht profit for each baht you bought or 500 baht total profit.

  8. I've been living in my house here for 7 years. The only unwanted guests I have had in those 7 years are ginkjo and ants. Nothing else and I haven't done anything special to ward other unwanted guests away. Only saw two cobra snakes while building the house and none since. I live 40 km north of Chiang Mai.

I had my 3rd year visit recently, same as the 2 before, same as the OP,  all very pleasant and friendly. No charge.

The senior one did ask 2 surprise questions, 1 why dont I change from retirement extension to marriage to save money in the bank and 2 why do I not volunteer at the local school?

1 don't need any more paperwork and 2, you (the IO) don't allow it without a work permmit.

If you are volunteering and no money is being paid, you don't need a work permit.

  10. Fortunately for me and my wife we agree. We both have quite strong conservative freedom loving attitudes. And I have convinced her that the people in power put their pants on one leg at a time just like everyone else and they all have to squat to take a dump just like everyone else.
