Now that they opened an immigration office in Promenada again I was able to do my 90 day reporting in less than 5 minutes. I'm sure that will change once more farangs find out about the Promenada office is backin operation.

For me, I came with my wife to take care of her ailing dad. We bought 2 rai of land and built a nice 3 bedroom 2 bath house with an attached room for her father to stay in. He died 9 months later and now with all our money tied up in the house and land, we can't afford to just leave it. We have tried selling it and most Thai people can not afford a nice home like this. Until it sells I am stuck here.
Anyone interested the house is in Mae Taeng about 40 km north of Chiang Mai. E-mail me at [email protected]

Thanks, but what I do not understand that nursing - apparently - is an academic study In Thailand. It certainly isn’t in my home country.
Don't know what country you come from but yes it requires an academic nursing degree in Thailand as well as in most Western countries. In America you can become a nurses aide with a 2 year degree but to become a full fledged nurse requires a bachelors degree. Seem logical to me since they have peoples lives in their hands. I wouldn't want some dimwit with barely a HS degree in that realm of responsibility.

I tried cashing an American government stimulus check at Bangkok bank and was refused. I was spitting nails since I have had an account with them for more than 7 years. First they told me the fees would come to about $35 American and then they told me that I could not access the funds for 2 months. Then they finally said that they wouldn't accept it at all because it was made out to both me and my wife and we didn't have a joint account. I offerred to open a joint account and they said no. Had to send it to my bank in America by way of Fedex. Cost me $40. But it got there in 3 days. I have grown to hate this <deleted> country.

I definitely enjoy cooking. I especially like cooking something for Thais that they have never tasted or tried before. Like sauerkraut and pork done in a slow cooker with mashed potatoes as a side. I also make a tasty apple cake that everyone enjoys and is not available in stores.

Anyone who says they have more than 5 doesn't have a clue what a true friend is. If you have 5 in a lifetime you are above average in luck.

Moved to the Family and Children forum.
Schools where I am require students to cut their hair very short, always have.
I seem to recall reading something recently -- as in this year, not years ago -- to the effect that it would no longer be mandatory but it is still widely practiced.
You would in my opinion do your child a great disservice to make an issue out of this. Even if you succeed, you will antagonize the school and cause your child to "stand out" and look different from the other students.
What a ridiculous reply this was. Paraphrased it says just be a little sheep and go along to get along. Don't make waves regardless of what they do. You and your child don't mean a thing in the grand scheme of things. Just shut up and go along with whatever. Must have been written by a leftist, socialist, democrap.

I agree. There is no logical reason to continue wearing masks. However...the dictatorship government of Thailand doesn't understand logic and so in order to get into most stores today, you will have to wear a mask.

ONLY one thing. The cost of living.

My recommendation is to have whatever one you decide to buy gone over completely by that brands dealership. Thai people on average have no concept of preventative maintenance. So there is a good chance if it is only a couple of years old that it has never had the oil changed.

TIT. This is Thailand. It is a 3rd world country. Even if they tell you can do it online, it won't work.

If it was me and I cared about this girl, I would pay the 1/2 school tuition. However I would make sure to pay the money directly to the school and not let it pass through the hands of the mother, father or grandmother. I also would want to see her report card each 6 months.

My guess is that the Google suggestions were for a typical western house/room. Don't forget that 99% of Thai houses are NOT insulated at all. I'd go with the Home Pro guy's ideas.

There are many laws in Thailand. More than 90% of them are seldom or NEVER enforced.

Well since it has been proven that young people aren't as affected by the corona virus. They don't catch the virus as easily as older people and when they do their immune system kills off the virus and they develop immunity to it. And those infected with the virus but showing no symptoms do not transmit the virus, what's the big deal? Are Thai officials just too stupid that they can not accept those FACTS?

I continue to live here because I and my wife owned some land 40km north of Chiang Mai and we wanted to take care of her ailing father so we built a house on the land. Now that he has passed, we can not sell the house without taking a severe loss. If we could get a price even close to what we have invested I and my wife would be gone like a shot.

He gets cremated. End of story.

Loans in general are much more difficult to obtain than in Western countries for one simple reason. Thais often just walk away from their debt obligations. The banks then get stuck with some piece of property they really don't want.

I don't get it.Why do people let themselves get all panicky about corona when it is common knowledge that more people die from the Flu each year than Corona. I don't see everyone walking around with masks when the flu is out and about. All you fearful Freddies and Frannies GET A GRIP AND START LIVING YOUR LIFE.

Be careful what you wish for. The government still hasn't done a damn thing to abate Bangkok flooding.

I downloaded music I like from the internet onto a memory stick. Then I bought a player for about 300 baht that plugs into my cars cigarette lighter and uses the FM on my radio. It's much better than listening to CD's because I can listen to hundreds of songs before hearing a repeat.

Gold at all-time high

Gold prices are cyclical. Typically rising throughout the summer, peaking in the winter months. Sell at any gold shop. The ones with a large red facade. They pay a fair price if the gold you sell is in ingot form. I don't know about jewelry form.
