  1. To many things like the elite visa were totally uninteresting as often they did,nt spend enough time here to warrant such a visa, in any case they very much did exist but are now gone (thailands loss), they wont get them back talking about special visas or tax schemes, By definition a nomad has freedom of movement
  2. All these things you mention would make thailand uninteresting for true digital nomads, they just want to wander in work-relax and use the internet for a while before moving on, the only advantage to the government in a nomads life style is that they are big spenders for the most part (maybe more than the well healed tourists they speak of) which the government proposes to want
  3. In reality they dont even want tourists here, only foreign money
  4. I thought the subject was nomads, a person who buys a property and works from home would be exactly that, a person working from home!
  5. At one time there was quite a number of digital nomads who would spend time here in thailand, OK did,nt pay taxes directly but were infact big spenders, Everything they needed was here ...enter on a tourist visa cheap apartment rental and reasonable internet access plus a nightlife scene, The government changed the visa rules in order to be rid of these nomads and were successful, All that happened was the nomads put a hard disk in the jacket pocket and got a taxi to the airport doing what nomads do, The government lost these big spenders!
  6. Seems they dont understand the word nomad a member of a people who have no fixed residence but move from place to place usually seasonally
  7. There was a when i time in my life when i used to fly from bkk to macau because it was the cheapest way to hk, the ferry macau hk was free if you showed the receipt for buying chips to gamble with, i would just cash them in after a few minutes to take the ferry free ( i think they assumed you lost all your money) seemed the whole casino was a sea of yellow shirted thais around the tables, As for the jockey club in hk i used it as a short cut as it had 2 doors, i noticed it was mostly the same people each day gambling.... i assume they are addicted.
  8. Why are thais addicted to gambling? maybe its a problem for asians as a whole, was shocked to see the amount of people in the jockey club in hk
  9. One time i arrived from changmai gagging for a beer, was string on the fridge doors in with a sign in thai i guess saying alcohol sales were not allowed, i anyway opened the door and grabbed a beer then a thai guy started pushing me away saying something in thai, girl at the counter came and pushed him away saying its ok he,s farang cant vote, was around 15 years ago.
  10. i have fond memories of the station, hope they dont have a brain fart and turn it into a shopping mall
  11. when i opened a kasikorn account with a rental contract and non im visa they said i needed a work permit, then i pulled out my driving licence and in one moment they cut down several trees to supply the paper required and i left with an account book ATM and debit card, same at the bangkok bank on nawamin, seems they just want to see a thai official document of some kind
  12. thais have zero idea about roundabouts, mostly they will just take the shortest route and go around the wrong way
  13. Thailand is years away from the normal consumer using BEV vehicles unless cars are on the market with self charging, Until then thais are stuck with ICE or hybrid
  14. lots off battery recycling companies already up and running
  15. Some months ago i sold my house in greece which had been running on solar power alone since 15years complete with a 5kw inverter, the house ran as a normal house would connected to the grid.
  16. I feel you VN but i think we will be weaned away from owning our own vehicles or at least vehicle sharing will be a thing, I enjoy having a car and motocycs outside as much as anyone but just being realistic.
  17. Most seem to ignore the fact that there are solar vehicles in development that will even charge in defused light, even the one in development at the moment for me would mean it would mostly be fully charged each time i wanted to use it, Fact is i believe personal owned transport is soon to be a thing of the past, electric self driving people carriers are the future.
  18. BC i had been working in hk for a few years, company car is/was a model s tesla from 2015, this car is a dream to drive and even being an older model functions perfectly, i did'nt have to do many km so it got hooked up to the charger every 2 weeks or so, HK became tesla city it seemed like all the previous sports car owners switched to tesla.
