So you're saying someone paying $215 for something that costs less than $60 is a chump?
No knowing the persons circumstances it may be more attractive than be asked to leave the country. I live in the NE with the $50 USD +air+ food+ taxi or train at the end of the day might be a wash.
Really can’t speculate without knowing the posters situation. I’m on Retirement visa and first time used an Agent which was 35,000 baht. I just looked at their website and it’s 40,000 baht now with
a 100% guarantee or money back.
It was a bit of a hassle. Fly to Bangkok stay in hotel two nights.
Was happy the second time as it was easy and painless. Just did
2 renewal (3 total) and same as before easy. Next on should be ok
as have income that comes in after that will have to rely on Social
Security which I’d the years statement I get is correct 55,000 a month.

I get charged every time I us my US ATM card 220 baht.....
US bank a few months ago stopped charging for getting cash
from ATM anywhere. Prior I’d get hit by Thailand an US fees.
i was pleasantly shocked when US made the change. In the past
if in the US and used other than that brand bank they’d charge you.

I live in a village a very few speak English and it usually niceties . Renting a house here could be a challenge we have 3 or 4 farang
that I know of and only one I’d see every 2-3 mo this and he’s went
on to explore the galaxies.
A small town Kumphawapi you could an apartment inexpensive 5000 baht a month. As one post said you can choose what you want by researching area or forums.
Hope you find what makes makes you tick and enjoy it.

Ubonjoe is correct was at UT IO today for 90 day check in. Full house usually 5 minutes your out today maybe 20 minutes top.
waiting in line three or four locals and one farlang was at the deak I was three people back from what the person in front of said. They
were agents for him. The IO wasn’t going for it and rejected needed
something more.
The officer a real nice guy if you speak English he speak good. He didn’t say one word in English it was all toward the agents.
I’m sure he had a rough day with line out the door.

At first I thought he may be talking about the Flying Rice Bugs, usually swarm during rice cutting season because as my Thai Friends tell me "They are pissed off we cut down their houses" these buggers bite ferociously and unlike mosquitos bites, itch like crazy for a week or more. We have them in Vietnam as well.
Sounds like same bug we encountered long ago while having a dinner ( prepared by hotel) on beach on Phi Phi.. those little suckers bite and as said above ferocious. After about 30 minutes
we asked to get off the beach.... very annoying.

Check in on line the day of your flight. Then you won’t be squeezed
for 45 minutes early.....
Online Check In needs to be done no later than 1 hour before flight
for Airasia and 4 hours if Airasia X
if yiu bought too much on the way to airport then try give baggage at gate. They’ll charge you for baggage that isn’t allowed to carry on.

Onhhh just looked 90 day check in today.... hope the IO is in a good
mood tomorrow. Udon Thani

Maybe they meant to give you leads for teaching opportunities. Hope you want to become a teacher for the benefits of knowledge
For children first and their education first.
In the beginning it’s going to be challenging and lower pay once
you show your capabilities things should change.
Best of luck...

Single seater if you can find one..... no worries taking anyone anywhere. Never leave keys in car with fuel. With no fuel
no one will ask to use it.....

Sorry took me a while scrolling back to the beginning to remember
what the topic was.... Ding Ding..“Cost or raising a child in Thailand”
Reading posts that go off into tangents... sometimes funny to read. I’ve wandered of topic many times.... but let’s not cross the line.
Its not COOL to basically call a person a “Cheap Charlie” for what they choose to do in life school etc...
The costs for an International school in China. These are real numbers from providers website.
2018-2019 Tuition per year
Pre School = $16,900.00 USD
Kindergarten = $20,909.00 USD
Grade 6-12 = $23,900.00
To choke down costs wouldn’t be easy.
No matter what you decide for your children make sure their life
is balanced. Teach them all people are equal rich, poor whatever.
Make sure they’ve an education that’s affordable.
Support them with guidance and understanding and they’ll be ok.

thais do not want us living here and that attitude extends to immigration personnel
YetAnother maybe you had a bad experience. I live in a village
for 3 years next month. I've never felt unwanted even when I go
to Udon Thani, Khon Kaen or BKK.
I really like it here and hope the Visa situation doesn’t change being unable to qualify once in full retirement. Now showing income to
qualify is OK. I’ve got the income now but when Social Security
kicks in and exchange rate stays stable (US) not lower than 30 is
workable. Not a lot of companies looking for 65 year olds.
It is a lot more comfortable living than in US....and I can go to the Dr. with reasonable charges...

If no check in luggage and only carry on go the Air Asia and
choose your seat and check in on-line.
Not ong ago took a person to the airport on Air Asia terminal two
now. 30 minutes bedore flight carry on they missed the flight because check in closes 30-45 mins? before flight.
I was driving they couldn’t or I would have checked them in.
Have a good trip

It’s a good idea sometimes I remember until it’s time and I’m a last minute rush to get it done. I’ve had to ask Ubonjoe a couple of times and it worked out without a hitch.
Had to apply for new passport mine was expiring and mailed it to BKK US Embassy already on at tight schedule to get it back I didnt
sign the paper and had to send that portion again. Then get the Income letter from BKK I live up in the Northeast got the passport
back next day was the deadline and luckily all worked out..

Opened one at BKK Retirement but at first they were reluctant
and they got tired of hearing why? Why? ......Savings accounts
