I am the same with hearing absolutely nothing from expatvac. I am 66 and live down in Bang Saphan Noi and today anyone and everyone can go to the local Amphur office and get Sinovac. Now, I am sure they had stated that Sinovac was not suitable for over 60s yet they are administering it! Is this to get rid of the stock and make the numbers look good? What will the future hold for those having Sinovac?

I believe Thailand and several other countries changed tack on that some months ago and that it was subsequently deemed safe for those over 60. My village is the same but still Thai Only.

Their choice is a second Sinovac, but may need a booster, or their second jab may be AZ the combination of which is alledgedly more effective than 2 Sinovac.

I view Sinovac as better than nothing for now and also believe that at some point the 'better' vaccines should be more readily availlable.

Has the Pfizer vaccine for foreigners been distributed to hospitals already? Do you have information on how many vaccines will be delivered to Pattaya and which vaccination centers. Thanks for all the helpful information.

Not yet as far as I know.

So the appointments will be sent after Pfizer vaccines arrive at all hospitals?

    T.

Or it depends on MOPH and DDC from this point on?

Yes, I am just trying to check when. I was informed by Consular Affairs Dept today for my presser that they have already sent 29,314 registrants to MOPH.

Am I correct in assuming that the 29,314 registrants sent to MOPH are the most vulnerable of the total people registered on the ExpatVac website? The first batch of people to be assigned vaccination dates?

But on August 10th 2pm there were 14K priority people registered on Expatvac and if 29,314 sent to MOPH there are some non-priority people. Will all the some 48K registrants be getting Pfizer and if not, why not? If not why have allotment of 150K for foreigners in the 1st place?

The admin of vaccines is implemented by MOPH according to the priorities. I will keep checking.

Do you know if the roll out as part of Expatvac started already in Bangkok and Pattaya? It's hard to oversee the different programs.

Not yet, as far as I know.

Thank you for your quick response!

    Good info thanks.

I just listened to Tanee Sangrat on Radio Thailand. Nothing new with the exception of a telephone number for general or registration queries - the number is

    025 728 442

Thai are requested to use the hotline number as before 1422

Appointments should be sent out 'in the next coming days'

Could it be that the other hospitals' quotas are already full so they have removed them from the drop-down list in the registration form?

Yes, very possible, for all we know they got 100 doses each like happened before, and they were snapped up in 5 minutes. I guess also they may add some later if not yet notified, so the list may grow.

That's register by midday tomorrow! Not much time.

I have just tried the registration form and on the choose preferred hospital, only 4 hospitals are showing in the drop-down list! What is happening?

Yep and all 4 are Bangkok or hundreds of Km East of Bangkok. Checked the others on their list - none anywhere near me again.

    Soo !!

    What happened to expatvac ??

Was it a method of registration for vaccination or purely a survey to see where foreigners are located and what vaccines they want ??

Seems very strange that it has not reported back and foreigners are getting vaccinated via thailandintervac. !!

Although there were a handful of posters claiming they got vaccinated stemming from the expatvac registration early doors I have not seen any appointment slot, via email or SMS , coming from expatvac !!

Peculiar that after the satisfaction ( ignoring the confusion on day one ) that expats had finally got a registration website in English with a hint at getting Pfizer for free it has faded into obscurity !!

    My recommendation would be :

“ don’t wait for expatvac, check out the thailandintervac.com website for a location you can access, others are being vaccinated already “

Now we are in the waiting game while they go through the data (manually?) weeding out who they can satisfy with geography coming, IMO, the top criteria.

What I don't get is they are now rolling out a THIRD jab to medical personel for their booster so they should have all the allocations sorted for all medical facilities nationwide. It would seem relatively easy to add allocations for the foreigners registered, in each region , by priority group (eg vulnerable, over 60 - i.e. me)  to each principal provincial location and tell us to go there around the same time.

I also seen a post today from someone who unfortunately DID get an email to say he had not submitted all the required documents, but didn't offer a way to resend/re-register.

At the main village shop today, run by 2 retired doctors, they told me they closed yesterday to get Phizer-jabbed in Kanchanaburi (3 hours away) so my province has some already, but will they offer me some? Not holding my breath. She also added - for Thai only yesterday.

What concerns me is the statement by PRD yesterday.  They said vaccines for foreigners would depend on age, and or one of seven conditions—and geographic location.  So if we’re located in the hinterlands, and we would otherwise qualify for a Pfizer shot—we either have to wait longer, or we get less chance of a good vaccine, than an expat in Bangkok.

Agree, I can't see them making me a special case when no elderly or vulnerable Thai have had a jab here yet either. Be interesting to see how the more remote locations are dealt with.

  7. I have now automatically lowered my expectations to try and avoid the inevitable disapointment when the rug is pulled from under my feet again.

Will it be at a local centre ? Will it be Pfizer? Will it be this year?

  8. Stop all the bragging please, my 38 inch LG is starting to feel inadequate now ????

As for the cinema it's one thing I miss but I haven't lived near one since I came here, so not been  to the movies in a long time. I used to go alone on hot afternoons in my time in Siem Reap, often the only customer in the place. And it was cheap not so cheap now back home though.

I watch Netflix a lot as it's my only choice really, and I have to say I haven't found a series worth watching all the seasons. Only once in a while do I come accross a movie I like.

  9. It's all gone a bit quiet on the expatvac appointments news - I fully expect a flurry of local appointment posts tomorrow or Tuesday. Call me an optimist.

So many vax threads now I am confused as where to turn for this info.

  10. I have beeen using 3 companies, depending what I want as price for the same items can vary from site to site.

expatfoodsthailand (Siamburi's) in Pattaya have the largest range and the best prices most of the time. They deliver to me in Kanahcnaburi all still frozen/chilled. Their Indian food range is great, tastes like a restuarant takeaway. Also do UK style Chinese but not tried them. Cheese selection is large and can order by weight.

I can also recomment britishop.com and, expensive but best quality for clean food, paleorobbie.com in Bangkok.

Registered on 1st, received a confirmation email immediately, received another mail on 3rd with a link for an appointment on 6th at Bang Sue.  Taking someone to another hospital on 6th so not available, the appointment link gives you the opportunity to request an alternative date (but once only), did that, now waiting for alternative appointment.

How far are you from Bang Sue, I assume it's local to you?

    Not quite right.

I suppose you won't pay VAT. Unless you order everything from UK. ????

This year alone I paid Income tax on pensions, VAT on my accountants bill and vat on my lawyers bill for selling my house, plus others such as Amazon.co.uk purchases. Luckily on my house sale there was no CGT to pay or they would have had that too.

And don't forget the UK pension is frozen for expats in Thailand and many other countries, but not in all.

I still think that donations from the US and UK are the reason farangs are now getting free vaccine appointments at hospitals - I think the Thai government was told it would be a condition - the focus on farangs has definately changed these last couple of weeks - it is no longer Thai first which likely came directly from Anutin

I hope you are correct, call me cynical but I will wait and see if the local health authorities get (and obey) the memo or will they continue to tell me 'Thai first' to my face.
