Only the ones doing things illegally
Not true... getting visa and extensions processed is much slower now and we will all be under scrutiny due to crooked officials.

We will all suffer now due to these people. Of course Thais never do anything illegally.

Probably just did not know the bike well... a Ducati at 67? not a wise choice

A Thai wife now gets sod all from the husband's UK state pension....
If a Thai widow has paid N.I. in the UK, she can claim it when 65 years old, but only a % of 35 years, with a minimum of 7 years N.I. contributions.
That is how I understand it....
wow that's a serious change and is RACIST - I get a NHS pension I wonder if it's the same

Because?
Because they are checking everything because of this scam. Normally it takes me 10 to 15 minutes this week over an hour and I was lucky. The visa company told me expect 3 hours or more.

Sadly, no she doesn't.
If we had lived in the UK and she had pais contributions she would have had one in her own right.
My pension is in my name only and as such it dies with me.
For some reason I thought we could have a named beneficiary? certainly it use to be that way? even a registered partnership but certainly marriage has that changed?

I have a Nat West account with a Canadian address , no problems yet.
Eventually I paid myself with a cheque for both Nationwide and NatWest leaving 50 quid in each and they will just sit there for eternity. Luckily I had some old cheques left for each.

and the knock-on effect is delays with extensions and transfers

I know that feeling very well.
My state pension is about 28% and will die with me. However my wife will get a % of my military pension and a % of my company pensions until she dies. After that my son gets the lot but the pensions die with my wife.
Doesn't your wife get a % of your State pension?

It is true, unfortunately, that the date is only when registered in Thailand. It's a typical Thai con - I bought a car advertised 6 years old but it was 8 years old and sitting in 'stock' they told me when I complained. Nothing is straight here.

The stupidity or was it apathy of the voting public who let that new constitution be approved. Or maybe most don't have time to read such things or the ability to read that much?
If you remember Prayut said if you do not vote FOR this new constitution the Army will stay in power? of course they voted to get rid of the Army but... nothing much changed they just put on civvies and carried on.

Millions will also tell you that alcohol tends to promote antisocial behaviour and I agree with them.
Millions eh? can I ask you to stop preaching? if you don't want to drink - don't! it's the same argument for anything same as smoking - don't like it don't do it. Abortion - don't like it don't have one. Stop trying to control everyone else.

I'm calling BS. Plenty of customers who don't drink buy ladies drinks for the girls. I'm one of them. That's how I know they complain about customers getting angry if they don't drink alcohol.
I go to a cinema to watch a movie and you sound a very, very self-righteous bore. The girls work in a BAR, what is it about that that you don't get? I go to bars to drink alcohol and I know many girl who work in bars and have rarely heard what you describe. Sounds like confirmation bias from an anti-drink evangelist.

It's all about you? Many girls in bars complain to me that the worst part of their job is getting drunk every night and that customers get angry if they don't want to drink alcohol. The girls frequently down fake shooters before the customer can figure it out.
Many girls complain to me about keeniow customers who sip water and orange juice and don't get into the spirit of a BAR. The girls laugh at the "I'm so pious" non-drinkers coming to their BAR. Don't drink? no problem - stay away from the BAR.

If you need to ply a date with alcohol you might need to think a little. I have an excellent social life without alcohol. Many girls in bars tell me that customers get angry if their ladies drinks aren't alcoholic.
Because we pay alcohol prices? we don't want to pay 180 for an orange drink? did you think about that?

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Most, if not all Dutch cities have improved dramatically the last few decades. In terms of livability, noise, traffic, public transport etc.
I see no such improvements in Chiang Mai. Perhaps Bangkok is improving but Chiang Mai definitely isn't. In not a single category.ok - don't come back

Strange approach... differing kinds of socializing? when on a date I like to get them relaxed a bit - works every time. A life without a glass of wine is hardly life at all.
